Fun race Testing Gr5 Audi Quattro

Password: see above

Practice: 19:45 BST (30 mins)
Qual 2: 20:15 (15 mins)
Race: 20:30 ~ 30 Mins

Cars allowed: Gr5 Audi Quattro
Track:   Imola
Time of Day Setting: 13:00
Weather: Dry

Start: Standing
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit-stops: None required

Server: Simracing.org.uk E5
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another
non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

Despite about a hour’s driving I feel unable to race tonight I have so little control of car I would either wreck my car or hit a car trying to overtake!  Roll Eyes Huh

Hopefully see you next week.  Grin

Unexpected win for me  Grin

Thought I'd go spinning out in the early laps as the car was very difficult under braking especially into the downhill penultimate corner. Stiffened up the front bump and rear rebound which helped a little but still had to be very careful. That combined with a gearbox that didn't like to change gears made it a long night.

Looking forward to trying out the new cars which should be with us sooon  Smiley

Those results don't look right. Shouldn't Geoffers be above Eck?

Eck didn't actually start the race, but there are no points involved so not to worry.

Never really got to grips with this car, took many laps to even get around the track without falling off. Also most perplexed by its tendency to lose traction when changing from 4th to 5th, what's that all about Huh Anyway gave it best after half a dozen laps & messing Frex up when trying to let him past, just got too frustrated with it.

Congrats to Tudor on the win. clap

Yes, this is my "clutch problem" that I've mentioned before - I also get it with the NSU and a few other cars too, but it was particularly bad in the Audi. It can be (mostly) avoided by being very careful and early with the shifts, and making sure to lift off, even if using auto-clutch. I think it may be the same problem being discussed here: https://forum.sector3studios.com/index.php?threads/clutch-slip.12895/ in which case it's a bug and will hopefully be fixed in the next patch.

I also agree with GT about the tricky braking. He kept it on track though, whereas I kept getting a wheel on the dirt and spinning off (5 times..)! Sort of enjoyed the challenge however.. Congrats GT.

By the way Eck was absent on the grid and I didn't see his car all race, but then it suddenly appeared behind me on the in-lap after the race was over. Weird..  Huh

Spanner and I assumed Eck had an Internet or PC issue as he dropped from TeamSpeak as we were gridding up for the race.

That change up issue really spoiled the race last night. It was even hit or miss if a 2nd lift would get the drive train to re-engage.

Awesome pace though Dieter for those laps you kept in on track, almost 1.5 secs quicker than the rest of us!

That's just down to the gearing - I changed it to bring the ratios closer together which helped to keep the turbo on boost I think. I was certainly gaining on most cars down the straights.
