Season 34 – 1955 Grand Prix – Round 6 – Dundrod

The sixth race in the 1955 Grand Prix series takes us to Dundrod in Northern Ireland. The Dundrod Circuit was first used in 1950 for the RAC Tourist Trophy Sports Car race and for the Formula One (non-championship) Ulster Trophy. The Sports Cars raced again in 1951 through to 1955 and the Formula 1 cars from 1951 through to 1953. The circuit comprised public roads closed for racing including a section of the B38 Hannahstown Road between Glenavy and Hannahstown, a section of the B101 Leathemstown Road from Leathemstown Corner to Dundrod and a section of the B153 Quarterland/Tornagrough Road from Cochranstown to the road junction of the B38 Upper Springsfield Road/Hannahstown Road at the Lindsay Hairpin. The last car race held on the Dundrod Circuit was the 1955 RAC Tourist Trophy race in which sadly there were 3 fatalities. The narrow, high-speed nature of the circuit, meant it was just too dangerous and since then it has only been used for motorcycle racing.

For this race we will use the 1950 layout which includes the Leathemstown Bridge section.

Handicapping and chassis allocation.
This season the 1955 Grand Prix cars will again be using a token system which allows drivers to purchase any chassis of their choice for a given number of tokens as published on the championship standings page. Drivers classed as Amateurs will be allocated an additional 10 tokens.  The token allocation will not be managed in SRou this season so (unlike the 67F1 Works and 67F1 Privateer divisions) the tokens available to each driver will not appear in the championship table (when the mouse pointer is hovered over the driver's total).  Rather, the available tokens will be published in the race announcement. See table below.

Available Tokens:
Note: These are the tokens available to each driver before the 10 tokens are added for making the race start.

Think I can manage about five laps on the same set of wheels but they are not all good ones!   Roll Eyes

Would that be the wheels, or the laps Clive???

Just tried Dundrod for the first time in about 4 years I think, and that was in a 65 or F2 mod which is a little different  Roll Eyes. It was a case of learning the circuit from scratch for the 55 mod and there are now several dead sheep and a good many fewer trees and 5 bar gates in this part of the world!! Oh yes!!,  and quite a bit of scrap metal lying around  Undecided

When I can remember where I am on these country lanes, and where the next proper corner is, I am getting down to the 4:00 per lap but I'm not sure that I could maintain that for a whole race. One memory slip about exactly what is around the next big tree or blind curve can end a person's race very quickly  Roll Eyes

I think that I've managed seven laps on the trot now!
But one of them was a seven minute job because I couldn't find a way back through the hedge!   Roll Eyes  Still the same set of wheels though!

EDIT:  Almost there!  Nine laps in one go!

This place really does need a lot of concentration.  Which is in short supply around here!

Yep!! could not agree more about concentration ( and the local shortage in available resources  Undecided ). I find that just when I think I have got the flow of the circuit and that I can maybe push the envelope just a fraction, a tree jumps out and grabs a wheel!!!

I am getting the same message Rich, but I know that the track IS installed as I have just done a few laps off line.

The IP address should show in IGOR.

Update... the current server IP is 46.69.108.227 as of 20:33 UK time

It is probably your season55.ini file

I suggest you make a copy and edit it so that you only have 1 race, i.e. Dundrod.

I have just tried to join via IP and I get

 "Cannot load track"  Huh

Track is in both 55.season and 55.ini files, so I am out of ideas, but I will try Phil's idea and remove all except Dundrod.

Just removed all circuits except Dundrod from Season55.ini file ...still get "Cannot Load Circuit".
Should I remove all except Dundrod from G55.ini file too??

Is it the correct Dundrod?  i.e the 1950 version not the later version with the Leathemstown Bridge missing?
