The server page now lets us set a handicap for people, and a weight handicap for a car, up to 100kg
Perhaps the Nissan would be ok with the extra weight?

I have set up the practice server with 100kg ballast for the Nissan, probably too much, but if anyone fancies
giving it a whirl shout up what you think.

Ok I gave it a whirl..

I'm about 8 tenths slower in the Nissan on the server with the ballast, compared to offline practice without ballast. Interestingly, my ballasted time is about the same as my times in the Audi V8, and in the Volvo, but in the Merc 190 I'm about half a second quicker here. I didn't try any other cars.

We probably need more data, and other ppl making some times, but to me the Skyline without ballast is a few tenths ahead of the Merc (and probably Omega and BMW M3 too, though I haven't tried those), and with ballast it is back in the middle of the pack. That would seem to be a good result, except that the Skyline has awful tyre wear and will probably drop further back as the race goes on - I guess we need to try it in the race itself to see how that pans out..

Ok, Thanks for the test. I don't like it because to me, it doesn't "feel" right
But when we first ran these cars it whupped everything, so the ballast might
make it about right. It is available for the race if anyone want to use it (with ballast)

Ok. I would ordinarily have taken the Audi in these races, but I might try the Nissan here just to see how it goes.

Also, these two car sets are among the few in the game that are still on the very old physics, and have a big upgrade coming in the pipeline (hopefully soon), that will improve the feel of all the cars I'm sure. I think in addition to the new physics, the intention is to also redo the balancing between these groups, so the new version will have closer BOP within each group (so no need for any ballast), but will also push the two groups further apart making it less likely that we will be able to run them together. No mention yet when this will be released however.

Thanks John. I did a few laps, and my times were about 1/2 sec slower in the Nissan than the Volvo
(which might not be a quick car here for me.) I will reduce the ballast, and see what happens if
anyone is brave enough to race it  angel

I think it's all track dependent. Laguna is a tight track where the Nissan maybe has less of an advantage over the other cars.

I just had a couple of flying laps around Road America in all four Touring Classics cars (with no ballast) and the times were interesting.

The M3 was slowest by a few tenths with the 635 and Nissan both quicker and about equal in times.

Quickest of all by a few tenths was the Volvo.

The Nissan and Volvo were around 10mph quicker at the ends of the long straights.

Compared to the Nissan, the Volvo was better on the brakes but slightly slower out of the corners until the turbo came on boost and was generally a bit trickier to drive.

I still get the feeling that the Nissan would be the stronger of the four cars to race with on most tracks (which I believe is how things were back in the day).

I didn't think the ballast needed much adjustment (if any) but we'll see. The main problem is getting the tyres to last - pretty high risk I'm going to get a right front puncture before the end..  Smiley

The ballast is currently 75kg, if that is not enough, we can increase it for the next event.

Congrats to podium and Matt for organising the race. Had busy day and didn’t feel like racing but logged on OK and gave it a go. Shocked, I put in a PB on race fuel but the race was a disaster I gave it to much welly out of a corner lost it and hit the wall crumping the near side bonnet. Went straight on at the next corner and put an even bigger one on the off side! Decided the car was more knackered than me and quit.  surrender rockon
