Season 34 Historic Trophy – Round 7 – STARDUST

The 7th race in the 1966 Grand Prix series takes us to Stardust  in Nevada USA.
Long time gone track, Stardust was built in 1965 by the Stardust Hotel and Casino.
It hosted the season finale of the Can-Am Championship between 1966 and 1968.
In 1969 the Stardust hotel was sold and the new owners largely abandoned the track; leased for a while then the whole land was sold. In 1970 track was closed and Spring Valley community took its place.

Race List = iGOR
Server = UKGPL_9
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Tuesday 16-04-2019
Time = 21:00 UK time
Track = Stardust
Race length = 29 Laps (<50 minutes)
Variant = 1966
Password: see above
Driver lists and divisional rules can be found on the championship standings page
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Pro
Qualifying time = 30-45 minutes
Replays = To be installed

There is no Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. Remember that lap 1 incidents carry an additional penalty place.

The chassis token system is explained on the Historics Trophy standings page.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

A driver must have sufficient tokens for the chassis he drives in the race.  Any driver who does not have sufficient tokens will be disqualified from the result and his tokens will be set to zero.

The chassis a driver uses in qualifying are disregarded when determining his token spend.
Note:  This is to cater for the instances when a driver either does not start or inadvertently joins with the wrong chassis and subsequently rejoins the server in another.

Any tokens not spent at the end of the season are ignored and are not used to determine championship positions in the event of a tie.

PRO rules means Shift-Rs are not allowed at any time and the damage model is realistic.

Drivers must complete 50% race distance to score.

Available Tokens:
Note: These are the tokens available to each driver before the 10 tokens are added for making the race start.

However an "Amateur" driver who fails to start any of the first 5 races will only be eligible for an additional allocation of 5 tokens (rather than 10).  "Amateur" status will be declared by the divisional moderator at the start of the season.

I did, but I don't see the password.
You are registered and if you look at your racing history you will see you are in the series so there is no reason why you should not see the password when it is released (48hrs before the race)

I start like Amateur or Pro ?
Judging by your results in your last race in S33 (see here)  I'd say you were borderline Pro (and definitely PRO given your UKGTL race history) but David (the divisional moderator who's decision it is) may be generous and make you an Amateur Wink

Good luck in the race and welcome to the series.

Ziu,

I have no idea about the contents of this PM ...and I don't want to know (P means Personal).

Amateurs and Pros are racing together, so you can be Amateurs and fight again Pros  in the race (For both championship, I think it's too late...)
so no real importance to choose Ams or Pros.

I raced with/against you in Syracuse last season and I can't remember any trouble with you.

If you want to race, you'll have 15 tokens so no BT19 and no Ferrari 312 for this race.

OMG, this is only a game and everybody should recognize this!

We are here to have FUN and try to let our opponents have the same.
Yes, there are drivers of different temperaments and skills, and so what?

Just respect anybody as much as you want to be respected!

And don't forget:
Nobody wants to destroy your fun, it' mostly bad luck if you are in a place where others want to be too...

I've loaded the chassis the drivers used into the token calculator spreadsheet.  For the next race the available tokens will be as declared in the table below (the table will also appear in the next race announcement).  The calculated values are automated but selecting the cars is a manual process so please check your tokens to make sure I haven't made a silly error.  There was no token overspend for this round so no one is disqualified.

Qualified much better than I expected but nowhere near Tristan's pole time. Started well too, I closed in on Ziu (probably because he was in a 2 litre car and I had the big Ferrari) but but I had to back off because there was no room to try to pass safely. Unfortunately I cocked up my braking and ended up clipping the tyres which dropped me back to last place.  Had a short tussle with Billy and Iestyn before settling down to try to catch David.  Thanks to a mistake I caught David and passed him but I couldn't hold onto the position. I made a mistake and David was back through. I tried to put David under pressure but he didn't crack and he gradually pulled away to seal a comfortable 4th place.

Grats to the podium and great to see a mixture of cars on the grid.  The token system seems to be working well.

Didn't manage to set a good Q time and it bit me - I couldn't avoid a spun Ziu on lap 1 and bumping him bent my RF tyre to the right, giving the car the handling of a shopping trolley - one which didn't want to turn left on a circuit that goes to the left!  laugh

Doing my best impression of Alonso in 2005/2006, but without enough lock in the diff to get the required oversteer on traction (ran a 60/85/1), I managed to get back up to third, before losing it in the esses, with four laps to go, while pushing for a faster lap time. I got stuck on the invisible divider placed there to stop blatant corner cutting.

Another rather limp performance. Engine went sick on lap 5. I suspect the car would have held out for half distance but it would not have been fun.
