RACE 2

Round 2 takes place at Oulton Park in the UK. The track is set in the grounds of Oulton Hall, which were used as an army staging camp by General Patton prior to the Normandy landings. At this time the famous boxer Joe Louis gave exhibition bouts at Oulton Park in the vicinity of the Deer Leap section of the circuit. GPL members are kindly requested not to resort to this sort of behaviour.
The track is characterised by rapidly changing gradients, blind crests and several tight corners. The full circuit is 2.8 mi (4.5 km).

FOR THIS RACE ALL PRO DRIVERS MUST USE THE 1966 3ltr EAGLE TIG.  AMS have free choice

Like the other race, had a little offline practise session to setup the car. Been a few years I did use this mod. The T1G is slowish, and with a very small powerband, especially the horsepower curve. I think my gearings were quite good for this track.

Again improved every session, and another chassis WR in quali. Again took the lead, and after a few fast laps brought it back to the finish. Again Clive was best of the rest, again with very good pace. Also well done Axel for podium, and finishers.

I'm feeling a bit guilty, since nowadays in most leagues use only the slow cars, and still win races. However I'm just trying to do my best for Joe Shaw's remembrance. I was happy to pull off some good times. It was great to see some older familiar names, especially those that I did meet back in 2016.

Have seen Andy improving his ranks recently as well, and also great to see how feisty Clive still is. Respect guys, and see you at Tuesday Wink

Grats to Robert and Axel on the podium places and to all finishers. No practice for me before joining the server, but I found a setup from an old race at Brands Hatch that worked with a few tweaks to the gears. It must have been a good setup, because I just could not get the tyres up to temp in the race, where normally I have the rears glowing.

At least I managed a quali lap and was able to start alongside Robert. But that was the closest I got to The Flying Dutchman as he steadily eased away throughout the race  Undecided.  I did get a PB in the Eagle by almost 3 secs, so maybe Robert was producing some serious slipstream??

I was hoping that giving the Eagle to the Pros would see a few of the Ams pick cars that made them more competitive ( I doubt that anyone would have got near Robert, but we might have seen an Am on the podium ), but it seems that there were not many Ams on the grids?

What would tempt more Ams to get involved in races like this, and what handicap on the Pros would make you think that you had a real chance??
