NoGrip Legacy TC Championship 2019
Brno 2 Hours Endurance
29th of April, 2019

First Endurance of the season. Smiley This one is Time based. Race will end when 2 hours is passed, not when lap count is reached.

Server info:
- Server Name: NoGrip Legacy TC Server
- Password: tc4ever

Event Info
Track: 1965 Brno 2 hours.
Track download: *DOWNLOAD*
Allowed Classes: Division 1 classes.
  • under 850cc.
  • 850 - 999cc.
Qualifying: 30 minutes, starts at 20:00 BST.
Race: Length 2 hours, starts at approx. 20:30  BST.
Scoring:
  • Both classes score points separately. Winner of each class receives 9 points, 2nd in each class receives 8 points and so on and so forth.
  • Overall winner of the race scores additional 1 point.
  • Start in a class where driver has not started yet in this season, scores automatically 3 additional points.

Notes
This race will be time based. Race length lap count will be set ridiculously high and will be wrong.
GTL race ends when one of following conditions is met:
A) race lap count is reached
B) time since start of the race is longer than RaceTime value in track's GDB file.
The latter has not been given in original tracks and game engine uses 180 mins as default, causing races end after three hours in all tracks which do not have different value. In our variation of Brno RaceTime has been set to 120 mins. As we set the race lap count in this case to 99 laps, the race will be end after two hours as it will be reached earlier than the 99 laps. Smiley

Oh, some sort of manual way of time measuring is recommended. There's no way in game to show how long the race has been going on or how much is left. Not even XD can do this.

I think Nappe means he is driving in the 850cc class Kurt, you are still free to drive a 850-999 class car.

Yes, I personally have decided to start in 850cc class. Smiley
Never thought that it could be interpreted as rules change, until I saw Kurt's reply.  oops
I try to be more clear next time.

When I read Nappe's post about only 850 class I also was worried as I hadn't run any cars in the lower category. Glad it was a miss-interpretation  sweatdrop

Practiced this morning again with the 970Mini and the Abarth1000.
The Mini is a smooth drive in my opinion for driving two hours but in my hands about 12 seconds slower than the Abarth,
which is more tricky to handle. But the 1000 Escort (AI) was even about 10 seconds quicker than the Abarth.

Here AI times are comparable only between the AI drivers,  it seems. AI seems to be uneffected by the bumpiness factor defined in gdb files.
Their driving is smooth silk while I bounce all over the place.

Too many unforced errors at least six! Roll Eyes a number of spins (I get disoriented easily) and must have given Roger (?) a scare when we met with me going in the wrong way. Also clipped a barrier and did a barrel roll landing right way up and continued along behind the barrier until I could rejoin the track, I think Kurt found the same spot. This meant I had to repair the suspension on each pitstop. Other than that I had a good race and only delayed one driver when he caught me going through an in town windy section and he had to use the kerb, sorry for that!

Had enjoyable time with new PBs in qualifying and the race, not sure I had the right final drive ratio, think I could have been a couple of clicks higher, I was concerned that I would over gear it. My battery powered speaker died on me with about 20 minutes to go and after a quick stop to check it, I continued with no sound using just the taco/orange light to sort out which gear to be in. Shocked.

Thanks Nappi1 for organising the Series and congrats to the Podium.

Grats to the podium guys and to everyone who was brave enough to take part.

I was kind of looking forward to this true enduro event. But, for me, it became a very lonely 2 hours  Undecided

The Escort absolutely leapt of the grid and I was chasing those Abarths for the first 1/2 lap, everything was looking promising until I hooked a wheel into the grass on the twisty uphill section and whipped the car around...rats!!!!
Got going again all alone until I started catching Rog. Just got within range and......hooked a front wheel on the grass in the twisty uphill section  cursing
Dropped back 15 secs to pick a fight with Bob in his Escort for a couple of laps until I got past and drew away...for several laps of lonely driving, with only the HUD counting down the gap until I started to get glimpses of Rog's car ahead. Just about caught him..........and we both dived into the pits.

Rog was out and gone about 5 secs faster than me and I was gobsmacked!! Shocked. I was gradually hauling him in over the out lap and looking forward to some proper racing at last....but he peeled off into the pits again  Undecided I guess he got a SnG for speeding in pit lane??
So now I was all alone again after about an hours driving and the only cars I saw after that were the ones that I lapped??? 2 hours on track, with maybe 30 minutes actual racing lol.
FWIW a shorter circuit might have made things more interesting? Not complaining as it was a novel experience to do my longest race ever.

I cannot complain about 5th place after my mistakes and discovering that the Abarth's were faster in a straight line than my Escort.

Thanks Nappe for organising  Wink
