OK. Confused from Bristol here.............................. Huh

We will quickly pass over my useless driving at Cadwell and move on to a more perplexing problem that I have.

The Mini has been a car that I have struggled with ever since I started racing in GTL. I know that some of you love it and extract very respectable pace from the little box, but I cannot find any consistant pace with that car in any of it's forms from 850cc-1275cc.

But as I am obviously a masochist  Roll Eyes I opted to try again at Cadwell. I did my usual offline check and ran the circuit and car over the weekend in an attempt to tweak the setup ( again!) and then I did a quick dip into the online server just to check that there were no glitches. I did not bother with any laps on the server, I simply loaded the track and selected the Mini before driving out of the pits and quitting.
Everything appeared OK for the race, so I was content.

Then I read Tony's post about the number of laps that he could extract from the 850 Mini ( only 35???!!) I was getting an indicated 48??? Was Tony running much lower gear ratios?  I was a little baffled as my gearing seemed about right with the dashboard warning light illuminating at the end of the long fast sections in 4th gear. Also I was sure that I had been posting laps offline of 1:35, with definite room for improvement. I was stumped when I joined the race server on Monday and found that I could not get the car below 1:42?Huh?
That was such a colossal difference that I went back and checked that I had the correct car and the right setup  Cheesy. I even tried changing my gear ratios to see if I could uncover that lost time. Of course, the harder that I tried to go faster the slower I was........but 7 seconds was an insane amount to lose.
Other than my lack of skill ( which is legendary ) ...any suggestions for these anomolies?

This is one track I really love. With its fast section, the technical last sector and  the elevations it is fun driving here. And the Escort loves this track too. From my base setup I only had to adjust the gearing and the damper to gain a little more traction on corner 12, the small uphill passage at the mountain. I expected tire wear to be not a big problem, since the race is only one hour. In my test sessions I was able to drive 1.32,5, with some space left. In the qualy I could mark a new pb with just under 1.32.
The race start was critical, as I am not a good starter and the Escort isn`t too. There is not torque and no traction. The Abarth is a rocket from the start in comparison to the Escort. Luckily Salesman had a slight problem and I was the first to reach the first corner. I could gain some additional time in the first lap. After that I could concentrate on my own race. I hope I did not disturb anyones racing when I was lapping you.
This time my pit stop went well, I came way early and fueled 10 Liters to have enough for the last laps. I lost  about 20 seconds due to the pit stop. The last laps went well and I could win this race.
I still do not understand why no one takes the Escort, the Abarth may be quicker but the Escort is great fun to drive. Espacially the Div1 and the Div3 cars. The Div2 Escort (the bigger one with 1.6 Litre engine) is a little tricky. Try them out ;-)

Grats to all participants and thanks Nappe for organizing and grats to his win in his class!!

Does the car have different rev limit and/or full tank size online and offline? 1970 850cc should have 30 liters tank and 48 laps seems to indicate 50 liters tank... Also post maximum rpm of the engine and how many final gear ratios you have in setup screen when using 850cc Mini offline.

After checking these, I will help you to isolate the other car that might be the reason for this, but let's see if there's clear indications of this. Smiley

It is theoretically possible to have conflict when 2 skins have has exactly same .car ending filename. That case offline race you are not racing with 850cc Mini but something else having exact same skin filename. GTL can mix these up in some occasions though it is very rare problem.
