2 laps or 3 laps, I don't think anyone was expecting to compete for a win around I.O.M last night, just to survive would be a victory.

I think that before the race I had actually only completed 3 laps, and even those had seen S/R's and several runs into hedges and barriers. I guess that Axel has had more practice on this long circuit than most of us, and it showed  I Am Not Worthy

It is difficult to be competitive on a track as long as this if you don't actually know what is around the next corner, or the one after that. Axel was quite correct about the number of really tight corners, but there are a few sections where I found that the sequence of corners catches me out and I end up clipping a hedge or tree. I was getting quite frustrated last night because I made the same mistake on all 3 laps!!!

The biggest problem for me on this track is remembering where those tricky corners are after long stretches of flat out corners...is it this next corner that I should drop a gear...or is it the one after that.....oops!!! this one  Undecided.

For verification of the issues caused by that wonky controller*, I tried a different one (Logitech Dual-Shock) which has much better potentiometers, and immediately did a 21:15. Down side is having to use a single, very small joystick for both gas and brake, which rapidly causes hand cramps (why I went the other way for the race).

*More complete story: it's actually fine for use with a lot of other games. I guess they mask the jaggy input somehow. For C$13, tax in, good value even if not suitable for GPL.

I also tried the hovering section names for the race, and I really liked that. Impressively well done. :bravo: Would a different colour/contrast help the legibility, Clive? Might be worth asking for, as I can see it helping others, too.

Best GPL track ever, hands down. Too bad it sucks for actually racing. Tongue

Hope that you can get your G25 fixed Dean, then you can do GPL properly Wink
I have had problems with my G25 over the past year and even went as far as ordering a G29. Sadly the G29 appeared to have more issues with GPL than a turkey at Christmas and it was returned!!
So I am back with my old G25, which after stripping it down and giving it a thorough service, it is OK.
I still have to find a micro switch for the left button on the wheel, and the left paddle is unreliable ( possibly related? ) but as I use the shifter the paddles are no great loss.

I have tried controllers on my grandson's X-box but find them impossible to work with, they of course find it easy  Undecided. But I would not have even considered trying I.O.M with a controller, so I doff my cap to you Dean for taking it on.  Grin

If Cookie learnt that 'track' that's impressive. I wouldn't attempt it helpsmilie, decent work just to get around!
Clive, you're far too quick to be a granddad. Maybe you can get a 'test' from a Mr. J Kyle, he isn't busy.
