Fun but tough series
Geoffers on pole in race 1 was expected. Hung onto 2nd at the start, but Clive was in fact only stuck behind my Cortina for 1/4 lap - he powered past just before the hairpin already on L1 and immediately proved he was going to be a royal pain in that car; would effortlessly pull away on the straights, only to be a rolling roadblock in most corners. Twice I got ahead or alongside in the final corner, only to be outpowered as soon as he could get his foot down - most frustrating! Eventually he slid off at the hairpin, allowing me to claim 2nd. Catching Geoffers not an option of course, so had to settle for that. Grats to Geoffers on winning & Bob for completing the podium.
Race 2 and with Geoffers neutralized in qual, Clive was now fastest. He got caught napping again at the start however; "Excellent, I'll grab the lead" or so I thought - being upstaged by Matt into the righthand kink wasn't part of the plan.. Clive had soon woken up and was back, so we were 3 all fighting for the lead. Managed to miss my brakepoint and thus outbrake us all. That let Clive past; bugger! Continued the scrap, now with me last. More worrying though was the appearance of Geoffers' Mini in my mirrors. Didn't have time to keep playing with the two in front! Then Matt locked up under braking at the hairpin, eventually spinning, and one corner later, Clive lost the rear and suddenly I was in front. Soon he was back, trying to pressure me, until he again lost the rear, giving me a breather - if you can call giving Geoffers a clear line of sight to me a breather! Drove as hard as I could, but he still inched closer, so relieved to see the flag. Grats to Geoffers & Clive for 2nd & 3rd.
