LOL yeh,  I don't think I ever hit any of those turns right even on my better laps.  I looked on stracker and you carry so much more speed from T2 to the top of the hill,  if I try that I'm off into the desert  Cheesy

Its weird though, at mosport although the front didn't have much grip it was easy to hook the corners up and the car felt good, but riverside aint working at all and it just feels a mess.  I will try and find some time to practice a bit more before the race...

Oh great, fmg and fabri have had heaps of practise here in a 60's f1 car  surrender  so us mortals will be fighting over the scraps more than normal  Grin

oh well maybe i can give Max a harder time for a change  devil  Wink  I love this track with historic race cars, just never seem to have enough spare time to really do it justice.

While the track layout is in your head, take the 917-30 for a spin and then turn the boost up to 11!  Grin

As a hint, you'll need to gear 4th for about 230.....

In the Aero setup was a device called a Fender Mirror. What does that do?

Fender Mirror is the right mirror, it can be round or square. I think only an aesthetic thing.

My race was tougher than expected, getting a second place that is a little tight. In fact during practice I did good lap-times.
I started bad from pole position, I have no idea how manage all this torque. Grin In any case I stayed ahead of fmg (my pilot-reference for this race). I did the first two laps really slowly to warm up the tires and get feeling with the fuel weight. Max took a little advantage, but I was confident to closing the gap in few laps.
This was not possible, Max's pace was remarkably fast and when I tried push more, I made several mistakes, especially at the hairpin. My brake balance was not perfect with fuel.
I fought a bit with fmg, but then he had problems with the steering wheel and I was able to return to second position. Before the race ended, with tires quite worn out, I did other mistakes to collect more sand.  Smiley

Congratulations to everyone, especially to Max for the great race!

10 pilots in server, better than I thought.

PS: Lola Ford is half second slower.

Cool, then I'll only be 3.5 secs off the pace instead or 4 Wink

ultimately a frustrating night for me. Held 4th the whole race with a comfortable 10-12 sec gap back to 5th, but then started really suffering in the heat with my rift and the usual eye strain with 10 mins to go. It got steadily worst and when with only a few minutes to go, i ran a little wide at T2 and tried to drift back onto track with minimum input, the car went into a double 360 degree spin up and down the embankment. The spinning scenery combined with the VR meant i felt really nauseous and struggled not to throw up  scared Got total motion sickness from that episode.  Sad

Worst was that i lost my solid 4th place to Stefan taz

Tough event with 40mins in an understeery beast in the heat. Much as i love the track i genuinely hate that one off camber hairpin corner round the back of the circuit before the long drag. Lost count of the amount of times i was clumsy through there.  nono

Decent turn out, i was pleasantly surprised  thumbup1 and well done to the 3 fast guys up front, including Max 'Sandbagger' Veloce, obviously learnt his pre-race talk from Lewis Hamilton and Merc F1  laugh

I just didnt get enough practise in to start tweaking the car (due to RL) so be interested to know what you front 3 did to gain time here. I think my gears were all too short ultimately, so i was probably losing torque.

I remember watching an F1 programme once and the reporter was lucky enough to have a go in their motion sim. First thing he was told was if you spin shut your eyes or you'll get motion sickness.

It was hot in the Rift last night for sure, I've got a fan pointed at my noggins but that seemed too little last night.

P.S. If you spin off as often as I do you can keep yours eyes open  Roll Eyes

I enjoyed that, the Ford is so off pace I had to push like crazy all race just to keep Fabri and Max in view.
This all came to nothing when my wheel came loose in the closing stages.
Never mind, I was never going to win in that car - and Fabri would most likely have needed another mistake for me to have kept 2nd anyway.

the Bridge should be much more equal though, one thing Riverside highlighted was how much quicker the Ford is in the twisty bits!

I also took the sounds from the Mustang 302r and used them to replace the not-so-good default ford sounds.
It's perfect now (i'm sure this version of the car is based on something like a 302 anyway).
The problem is I now need a better 'big' V8 for the Chevy...
