Season 35 1965F1 – Round 4 –  Solitude

Summer over, back at work? Need something to cheer you up? UKGPL is back.
Round 4 will be staged at Solitude, near Stuttgart. tTe Solitude race track was used predominantly for motorcycle racing. Not as daunting as the Nuerburgring, but it’s quite a challenge with a deceptively fast back section. Remember this is a left handed circuit.
The season will be a mixed grid & free choice of chassis for all drivers. The damage model is intermediate & all drivers are permitted 1 x Reset, followed by a compulsory Stop & Go.

Server = UKGPL10
IP = 217.155.118.41
Race date = Tuesday 30-07-2019
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Solitude
Race length = 14 Laps (50 minutes)
Variant = 1965
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Intermediate
Qualifying time = 30-45 minutes

Driver lists and divisional rules can be found on the Championship Standings page

There is no Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. Remember that lap 1 incidents carry an additional penalty place.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Screen freeze - I think on lap 8 which would at least be 50% distance? Good dice with Dave & Fran before then.

Bogged down at the start and lost 2 places that I never made back.

Was catching AnGex with 3 to go and was closing in on the tow but made an error went off.

Just brought it home after that.

Great track and good to be back.

Grats to Axel on the win and commiserations to those who suffered technical problems.

The Honda is probably not the perfect car for this circuit ( for me the BT11 is definitely faster ) but I do find that the Waza is fun to drive  Roll Eyes. I was almost caught out by Mike's slow start and had to jink sideways to get past before T1. Then I followed Andreas for a couple of laps feeling that I could go a little quicker if only he was not in the way. Meanwhile, Tris and Axel were escaping into the distance and I knew that my Honda would need to hook up with their slipstream if I was going to match their pace.
Around lap 3, a good run down onto the long straight gave me the slingshot past Andreas and I was able to slowly pull clear, but Axel was just too far ahead to gain any tow and both he and Tris eased away, leaving me on my own for the rest of the race.
Then Tris had his freeze and I was promoted to 2nd place behind Axel, with the gap back to Andreas and Mike slowly growing with each lap. My only concern was the reliability of the Honda engine, so for the last 5 laps I reduced the revs and cruised home...…….only to discover that I had been carrying 50 litres of spare fuel!! lol  Undecided

Yeah, it was a good race. Had a freeze myself in offline training and was a bit worried for the race. Lucky that it worked out in the race.  Smiley
Sorry for the gents who suffered a freeze. Clive let me no chance and was soon vanished from my sight.
