Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0h09m46s

On lap 5, at the exit of the hairpin (Nouveau Monde) there was contact between Clive L and Ziu cars.

I don't think this is a right place to overtake when cars are so close but I will consider it as a contested Side by Side contact so a Racing Incident.

Season 35 – 1966 Grand Prix – Round 3 – Rouen

Round 3 of the Historics Trophy will take place at Rouen. A classic 60’s racing circuit, it did host the French Grand Prix but not in the 1967 season. It is, however, a Papyrus original. From its opening in 1950, Rouen-Les-Essarts was recognized as one of Europe's finest circuits, with modern pits, a wide track, and spectator grandstands. The circuit (which ran on public roads) had a few medium straights, a cobbled hairpin turn (Nouveau Monde) at the southernmost tip, and a few blind corners through a wooded hillside. The appeal was greatly enhanced by the climb from Nouveau Monde at 56 metres to Gresil at 149 metres.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.
Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please read the championship specific rules on the championship standings page.
Password: see above
(2) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page - 1966

There is no Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. Remember that lap 1 incidents carry an additional penalty place.

The chassis token system is explained on the Historics Trophy standings page.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

A driver must have sufficient tokens for the chassis he drives in the race.  Any driver who does not have sufficient tokens will be disqualified from the result and his tokens will be set to zero.

The chassis a driver uses in qualifying are disregarded when determining his token spend.
Note:  This is to cater for the instances when a driver either does not start or inadvertently joins with the wrong chassis and subsequently rejoins the server in another.

Any tokens not spent at the end of the season are ignored and are not used to determine championship positions in the event of a tie.

PRO rules means Shift-Rs are not allowed at any time and the damage model is realistic.

Drivers must complete 50% race distance to score.

Any chance of a practice server for those who have not yet established that they can join in 66mod?

Thanks Axel.

My original car for this race had to be the Lotus43 but,as usual with Fairshift, only 5 gears worked instead of 6.So i  chose the Cooper and I improvised a setup. With the lotus i was able to ,at least, a 2,05 with the Cooper not less than 2,06.
Anyway the car have abbandoned me after 3/4 of the first lap......clutch.

Real Numpty mistake - selected the wrong set up for the race - the set up with half a tank of fuel. Had worked my way up to 5th place - unless someone made a serious error I was going to do any better but shame I only made half distance having spent tokens on the 3L Ferrari.

Billy,  I don't know if it is allowed to use refueling patch  Huh

Nice race begin with the 2 Clives and Ziu, then there was an incident between Clive L and Ziu. I think they lost 5 or 6 sec.
And then I could overtake Evilc when he spun, a few miles/km after he disappeared (engine ?) and I just had to manage the gap with Clive L.  and Ziu.

Managed a decent finish in my little Brabham but only thanks to other people's misfortune. The Baby Brab was a sitting duck on the back straight.

I had problems with my steering wheel going out of calibration. After lap 3 I had to drive with my steering wheel at 45 degrees Roll Eyes. I stopped at the hairpin a couple of times to move the wheel full lock in both directions to try to recalibrate it. It seemed to help a bit but not much.  A similar thing happened in the last SCx race. I think my trusty old G25 is packing up. Looks like I'll have to procure a new wheel in the summer break.

Grats to David on another outright win, you'll be in the Pros soon at this rate. Well done to Clive in his come-back season, P2 shows you've lost none of your speed on your sabbatical.

Yes it is one of the allowable patches. See this rules page.

Happy with my participation in Rouen ... I have classified 6th and then I have enjoyed rolling after Gebhardt who was very fine with his cooper ... a pity that a small mistake to soften my pace has got me hooked on some tires
I hope to do better next time

Thx all for racing  Wink

I've loaded the chassis the drivers used into the token calculator spreadsheet.  For the next race the available tokens will be as declared in the table below (the table will also appear in the next race announcement).  The calculated values are automated but selecting the cars is a manual process so please check your tokens to make sure I haven't made a silly error. There was no token overspend for this round so no one is disqualified.

I was tempted to use my favourite V8 Brabham/BRM but I remembered that in a previous race, just like Phil discovered, it lacks outright speed on that long uphill straight.
I had decided that this season I would work on getting the 66 Wazamobile sorted with a competitive setup. It had worked at Monza, but that is hardly a circuit where handling is the prime concern. So I played around with that during qually and was getting  some progress...but it was a little nervous under provocation and that was what finished my race.

I was able to follow Clive L, Ziu and David quite happily in the early laps. Then David had a an off and I was able to move up to 3rd and watch the battle between Clive L and Ziu.
From where I was sitting, the tangle out of the hairpin was just bad luck for both of them. they emerged side by side and the smallest of touches sent both cars flying. But it was just perfect for me as the two of them flew off to either side and allowed me a clear road  Wink. I pushed hard for one lap just to get clear, and then settled into a safe pace, waiting for David to chase me down as he was running faster. The handling of the Honda was a little twitchy and I was reluctant to force the pace until David caught me. There was always a chance that he might make a mistake and grant me a safety gap.....but he didn't!
Maybe I should have allowed David to pass and simply follow him, but I tried to stay ahead and had a spin, which allowed Clive L to close up a little. A small mistake at T1 where I got a wheel on the outer grass and provoked a tank slapper, sent me onto the grass and down into the trees which removed a wheel and ended the race for me.

Grats to David on a well deserved, Clive L (who is rediscovering his old pace  Roll Eyes ) and to Ziu who is becoming a serious contender in the 66's. This series is cooking up nicely  Wink
