It's in Kent, not far from the Dartford Crossing. (South East England)
Going to watch the qualifying of DTM at Brands definately.

Moved and linked to calendar. I'll doubtless be going with Shark to see the qualifying. Go Susie! Go Mika!

Go Mika, aye.
As for Susie Stoddart, don't rate her at all - I appreciate the fact that she's probably got more Women interested in Motorsport, which is a good thing - but her and Matthias Lauda shouldn't be in DTM cars this year - neither have justified it IMO.

I've seen Lauda a bit today and even though having been a big fan of his dad... I agree m8. Susie I don't know tbh. It's a bit like Cora Schumacher getting paid 600.000 euro for driving some Seat around in 22nd place with some of these drivers ! T

It's Vanina Ickx I can't understand - she's got lots more top flight sportscar experience and yet Susie is comprehensively outracing her.

Nice photos Dave May I ask what kind of equipment you use? Currently I own the Canon EOS 350D camera with the standard 18-55mm lens that came with it. What lens is best for racing photography?

Currently I own the Canon EOS D350 camera with the standard 18-55mm lens that came with it. What lens is best for racing photography?
It's a Nikon D70 with a Tamron 28-300 XR Di lens. The lens is very good value for money although it's not particularly fast (f/6.3 at 300mm) so it only works really well over 200mm or so in very bright light. If I were buying a lens just for motorsport I'd consider something faster in the 75-200 range, or even a 200mm prime - you don't need the wide angle very often and unless your camera has built in image stabilisation (like the new Sony D-SLRs which are coming) you'll need to shoot with fast shutter speed.

The first oppurtunity to use it is at the 24 hours of Spa. As Spa has no good photo spots close to the track I think I will need a long zoom range. Most of the good spots are more than 30-40 meters away. So do you think this one would be a good choice? It has built-in image stabilization and costs around £350. Later this year I will buy something for close range like 28-105mm or something like that.

Sounds pretty good - if it gets positive reviews it sounds ideal. Get practising with panning shots and manual focussing too. Yesterday I read some reviews about it, most of them were really positive. Sigma manufatures a lens with the same zoom range but different other specs for about £100 less, but it doesn't have an image stabilizer (something that comes in handy at 300mm I think) and the build quality was poor according to some reviews. So I think I'll go for quality and buy the Canon lens I already practiced that last year at Spa (panning). Back then I borrowed some stupid compact camera which took about 3 seconds to make the photo. That was the only way to get a reasonable sharp picture without too much blur
