Grats to the podium and those who survived to the end...especially Salesman who I saw lose a wheel on the final lap and drag his car to the finish.
Also to Rog who seemed to have these cars sorted and some great pace and control
and capable of bothering the resident aliens ( if they survive the early laps!!
)
Much as Dan said
These cars do appear to be ultra sensitive to "over driving", and again, just like Dan said, I fail to heed my own advice when the flag drops!!
Pushing even slightly too hard just seems to burn the rubber off the tyres in a few laps and basically just screws the rest of your race.... at least that how it seems to me! Also, if one finds the back end getting away there is no controlling it, opposite lock seems to be unavailable or ineffective ( or both!!) and a trip to hit the barriers head on is inevitable. Sometimes a wheel is lost, sometimes two
I was simply determined to finish at least one race in this series, regardless of final position, and so I tippy toed around to 60% distance before stopping for fresh rubber. I had fuelled for the whole race at the start so it should have been a quick stop except I faffed around selecting and un selecting various options and wasted about 20 seconds...…not that it would have made any difference to the results lol.
On a more positive note.
I did finish the race despite trying to demolish the car and/or the scenery on multiple occasions.
I had none of the freezes and delays as cars joined for this race
. I have been through all of my installs and checked that the settings were all the same regarding ISDN connection and the "cars only join in garage" etc. ( one or two installs had random variations although I do not recall ever looking at/changing any of those variants. Hopefully whatever the issue was it has been resolved.
My best lap times on full fuel are not too far off the race pace of the fast guys, so maybe there is something to work on
