Moderator's Report

Like we all know overtaking is an art. Therefore it should be done clean and fair.

Of course it is your right to defend your line, but only to a certain extent. When you are about to be overtaken for position you are allowed to change your line once. After changing line you must stay on that side of the track. This sometimes means you won't be on the racing line and can't get into a corner like you would normally do. This is no excuse to cut across the track.

I have got some complaints from several drivers about driving in the middle of the track. This isn't allowed as it's a form of blocking which can be penalized. Choose your line and stay on the left or right.

As announced in the race topic drivers must make a minimum of one pit stop. You cannot take your pitstop at the end of the formation lap, or with less than 1 lap to go.

Several drivers forgot to take their mandatory pitstops. They will be excluded from the results without any additional penalty.

Server replay time: 206s

Maurice Claessen brakes too little/too late for t1 on lap 1. To avoid rear ending Rich he tries to slide down the inside, but Rich turns in and there is contact. Rich is bumped off to the outside. Maurice does a drive through as penance for the incident and takes full responsibility.

Given that this was lap 1, Maurice should have been taking extra care to leave a margin of error, but in his defense he did try to avoid contact with Rich. Since he took the drive through this is assessed as a 0 place penalty.

  • mclaessen (Maurice Claessen)penalty — Lack of care in the braking zone for L1 T1 — 0 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 642s

Bernie Lomax is following Popabawa at the start/finish straight. Bernie Lomax brakes a little later and bumps into Popabawa, causing him to miss corner entry and crashing into the wall.

  • Bernie Lomaxpenalty — Side contact with Popabawa — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 4845s

Nick Phillips and Maurice Claessen have just banged wheels at Repsol and then go side by side into Seat. Maurice is slightly ahead and on the outside, but as they exit the corner Nick doesn't leave enough room and Maurice comes off worst. Nick could see Maurice, knew he was alongside but chose a line which invited contact when a tighter line was easy to achieve. Maurice clearly had the advantage here and Nick should really have just accepted the inevitable and tucked in behind.

  • Nick Phillips (nick phillips)penalty — Avoidable side by side contact — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

One thing that was noticable on the replay was how my car was displayed after the finish of the race, when I went into turns 1 & 2 the car was jumping all over the shop making it look like lag.  All I'd done was put it in Neutral and for whatever reason the server couldn't calculate where my car actually was anymore laugh quite odd really!

I too noticed that I had to complete a full lap after I passed the finish when I already had the time counter elapsed.
I found it rather strange cause the race time ended when I was some 4 corners from finish.
I had to do another full lap and only after passing the finish line again I got the message saying my race was over. Huh
When checking the lap table I notice that I have one more lap then Truetom when I should have the same number of laps (I think).

The leader passed start/finish just before the timer ended. That's why you needed to do another lap Smiley

Yes, that I do understand, but in that case shouldn't Truetom and the others made one more lap also?
I was in the same lap of Truetom, Shark and Gomes, at least. That's what I don't understand. Please note this as nothing to do with the final race classification, only talking about it cause I found it strange.

This page of the lapchart clarifies it some more. Look at the total Racetime Smiley

No Luis because I think Zacari was inbetween yourself and TT and me. So you cross the line after the time runs out, but because Zacari hasn't crossed the line yet you have to wait till he does so you have to finish that lap, whereas we are behind Zacari so we cross the line after he does and therefore finish there.

I'm asuming Zacari was between you and us (which I think he was).

Yes, that explains it. Wink

I thought we're running without any car in between, but if the first position was between me and you I would really to have to make another lap and you ended you're race as soon you passed the finish line after Zacary crossing it in front of you.
Yep, that feels right

Yes, that explains it. Wink

It still doesn't explain why you got the "race finished, return to the pits" message when you started your final race lap though does it? Or did you not actually get the message but just happened to notice that time had expired before you crossed the line?

I was some 4 corners before the finish line when the time counter elapsed. I thought when I crossed the finish line at the end of that lap I would get the "race finish" message. But I dind't get it so I did one more full lap already without the time counter. Only when I crossed the finish line again I got the race finish message.
I crossed the finish line twice with the time counter already elapsed.
But like Shark said, if Zacari was behind me when the race time ended, only when he crossed the finish line would the race ended. So, although the time had elapsed, Zacari had to cross the finish line to declare race finish. As I was in front of him, I crossed the finish line with time counter elapsed before Zacari did and thats why I had to make another full lap. When I crossed the finish the second time Zacari already ended his race and mine ended as well. As TT and Shark (and Gomes) were behind Zacari their race ended the first time thy crossed the finish line after the time counter elapse cause Zacari already ended by then.
A bit confusing I know, as I also didn't understand it until Shark pointed out that Zacari was between me and them.
So, I guess I was the first to cross the finish line after the race time ended, which make me the overall winner  Grin.

And if you think that was confusing it was worse in GPL!  Smiley

If the leader was just about to lap you as you crossed the start/finish line you'd get the chequered flag (or you thought you were but in fact he was waving it to the car right behind you). There was no handy "RACE FINISHED" message like there is in GTR.

Well you were the winner of the NGT race (or would have been, except for the small matter of no pitting) because you completed more laps, which is the first criterion in working out the results.

I know.
I was only kidding for being in front of Zacari in track when the time ended. well, in front in terms of track position not race position , of course Wink

Aah the good ole days (again Wink), when not everything was lined out in great detail, people could still railride most tracks, take the train while doing the Tour de France and second-to-last-corner-German-cheaterz weren't got with their pants down and put on public display! Wink Tongue

Woohoo! Wink laugh Grin

Hi, guys... I just wanna say that I loved race with you guys...
Sorry if I caused any problems to anyone, but racing 1 hour with 18 FPS wasn't easy and at the end of the race I was spining a lot... I was trying to free the track always but in case...
Looking forward for the next race...
