Moderator's Report

Summary
The faster cars proved their worth here with Pelle taking the win in the Eagle followed by Greg in a Lotus. Tristan claimed 3rd spot on the podium with a very creditable drive in the comparatively underpowered Brabham.

Server replay time: 0h01m25s

Lap 1 – Dr Tiroch Kurve – Dave Curtis, Andreas Gebhardt, Fulvio Policardi and Phil Thornton
Dave runs slightly wide at Dr Tiroch Kurve and Fulvio takes advantage by squeezing through on the inside and whilst he doesn’t hold the tight line through the apex, he manages to avoid hitting Dave’s Eagle. However, he does get very close and whilst there is no contact on the server replay, Dave does experience a bit of warp contact. This slows Dave down significantly which catches Andreas out and contact is made. Andreas bounces to the inside out of the way but Dave spins in the middle of the track and is collected by Phil Thornton who has nowhere to go. Phil managed to slow down sufficiently so that contact was minimal, and all drivers could continue without needing a reset.

Whilst Fulvio could made a cleaner pass by keeping close to the inside kerb, no contact was made so this was a racing incident possibly exacerbated by warp.

Lap 2 – Rindt Kurve – Dave Curtis and Andreas Gebhardt.
Andreas is fighting with Francesco and he takes a look up the inside on the approach to Rindt Kurve but he decides not to bother and pulls back in behind Fran. At this point Dave also tries a move but there is not very much room on the inside and in order to avoid contact with Andreas, moves across too much and puts his offside wheels on the grass. This is disastrous, Dave loses braking performance and steering control and he inevitably careers into Andreas.

Francesco was not as far left as he could have been, and Andreas was wise enough to realise that there was not enough room for a pass at that point. By the time Dave realised that it was too late, he was committed and unable to brake safely. Dave was easily a car’s length ahead of Andreas at turn-in so it wasn’t an Impossibly Ambitious Overtake. Dave would have made the corner, so this is closer to a Marginally Ambitious Overtake. However, Dave is responsible for the incident as it was his misjudgement that caused the collision.

Season 35 – 1967 F1 – Round 6 – Zeltweg

The sixth race in the 1967 F1 series finds us at Zeltweg Austria. Zeltweg - the original Österreichring. Built in 1969 to replace the bland and bumpy Zeltweg Airfield circuit, the track was known for being very fast, as every corner was a fast sweeper and taken in no lower than 3rd gear in a 5-speed gearbox and 4th in a 6-speed gearbox.  There are also noticeable changes in elevation during the course of a lap which means the downhill sections are even faster. Like most fast circuits it was a hard circuit on engines and even harder on tyres simply because the speeds were so consistently high.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please read the championship specific rules on the championship standings page.

Race server (UKGPL4) is up on IGOR for testing. Please test your connections. It has the same max latency settings that we will be using for the race.

Hi Phil,
I've been on the server a couple of times recently (ok - I'm not coming from too far away!),  but unable to connect today.

Tried a few times since 18:00.  I see approx 42-44ms indicated.  However, either can connect through, get the event page but see 0:00:0 practice remaining/no green button to continue,  or connection initially looks to establish - then get "receive throughput fell to unacceptable level" & disconnected.  But still see approx 42ms in iGOR.

Are others able to connect ok?

Cheers,
Dave.

Just been on server and Tris was on. His connection looked good to me (no warping when he passed me  Roll Eyes )

Hopefully it will be OK for you now.

Thanks for confirming ok chaps.  Looks like it was of my own doing Smiley

I'd fired up pingplotter earlier from a monitoring machine.  If I stopped that  - was able to connect from my (creaky) GPL machine fine.
(also tried it another couple of times with same results).

Cheers,
Dave.

Nice racing for me until lap 11 when I lost it. I couldn´t get close to superfast Pelle and overdid it.
Afterwards I appology for hitting Phil Thornton -sorry, I braked to late as I saw the yellow flag very late..

btw: sunday-evening is very late for me because I have to get up early at monday..maybe I have to miss some races in the future..but I´ll give my best.

hopefully cu all soon!

This was a good result, by my standards. The cars were close away from the line up to T1. I think Andreas & Dave C bumped wheels & a gap suddenly opened up. After that Dave R chased hard for 10 laps until he had an incident on the exit to the last turn. I was able to match Fulvios Honda lap for lap until the end but I could not get close enough to try a pass. I could see Dave C's Eagle in Prib about 10 seconds back also lapping at very similar times.
Despite no mistakes I still got lapped by Pelle's flying Eagle.

Crazy race for me. Shocked
maybe the server was set to have no damage, Roll Eyes because I had two very strong accidents and nothing happened in the eagle !!! Grin
After so much luck in a buggy race I can only be pleased to finish miraculously.
Pelle was irresistible !!!! disappeared in the distance! thumbup2
congrats Greg and Tristan for the podium!

I can tell you it wasn't  !!
I burnt 2 engines during the race.
Francesco seems to have the same trouble ...so not a track for V12 Ferrari Sad
