Moderator's Report

At the end of the formation lap there was some early acceleration from several drivers resulting in some contact on the s/f straight.
Rather than get into it in detail, I'll just remind everyone of the new start procedure using the pit limiter, which will hopefully prevent these type of incidents in the future.

Server replay time: 260s

As the pack approach Coppice for the first time Picnic is following Jan Duijs and Maurice Claessen. Jan brakes early and Maurice almost rear ends him but manages to slow, but caught out by the sudden braking Picnic cant stop in time and rear ends Maurice sending him off.
In Picnic's defense, Jan did brake unusually early even for the first lap.
Picnic took a drive through immediately after the incident so the penalty is reduced.

  • picnic (Picnic)penalty — rear ending Maurice Claessen — 0 places lost

Server replay time: 283s

Mark Jonzo is following Shark down to Melbourne and he leaves his braking quite late and has to move to the inside to avoid rear ending Shark.
He just about slows the car but there is light side by side contact with Shark as they round the apex.

Server replay time: 369s

Paul968 is rejoining at the Fogarty Esses after an off and as FlyBri, who is defending his place fro TrueTom, reaches the braking point his view is obscured by the tyre smoke. A Ferrari is clearly visible sliding out onto the grass through the tyre smoke, but the second Ferrari of Paul968 is hidden in the smoke until the last moment and Flybri is already under heavy braking when he sees it.

Paul rejoins on the extreme right of the track just before the second half of the chicane, and is attempting to keep on the far right by not accelerating hard through the corner. FlyBri's line and apparent absence of braking suggests that he either couldn't see Paul for some reason or simply hadn't registered that he was rejoining at low speed.

Ironically, had Paul not made an effort to stay tight to the right hand curb whilst getting back up to speed, FlyBri mightn't have hit him.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 386s

Maurice Claessen has been following [Zip]PY for several laps and as they reach the braking zone for the Fogarty Esses Maurice rear ends PY sending him off. PY's braking point was no different than the previous laps but he did move to the right as they neared the braking zone. Maurice swerved left but could not avoid the impact.
PY should really have chosen either the inside or outside line and stuck with it. However Maurice could have been more cautious considering that the same thing almost happened at the same bend on the previous lap.
Penalty reduced to 1 place.

  • mclaessen (Maurice Claessen)penalty — rear-ending [ZIP]PY — 1 place lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded
  • [ZiP]PYadvice — choose a definite line before the braking zone

Yup, it was a bad word choice. But why does being held up have a negative sound to it. I can be held up, but why would that suggest that I disgree by that happening. Because of an incident at the beginning of the race, I was down the field. I was catching up with the guys infront. Untill I reached (...). He drove a good defensive line, so my times dropped. In other words, I was being held up to procede on my dash to the top 5. Absolutely no negative thought behind it. Just a (bad) way to describe a fact.

It was using the phrase "held up" in conjunction with "really badly". Anyway, subject closed.

Oh btw, whilst we're on the subject of 24 visible cars/drivers in a race, now that the server can hold more I think the following section needs changing in the rules...
https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7 - Championship Format, which states places down to 24th. I guess we should say 36th now? (Very minor I know)

(I'm guessing that's what the 24th place was about (the number server could hold))

Was a good race, i'm still learning F360 only done a handful of races in it.. I should have realized this and not pushed so hard to keep pace with CJ and Emmo but got a right whip lash into T1. I just can't believe that these cars are for real when the differential can be such a volatile thing. Anyhow, F360 seems like a good car but will take all of this season to learn it proper.

I'm sure the server can handle 30+ cars but I don't think GTR can handle it. Thinking back to WOSEC I do vaguely remember the same thing happening and it was a P4 3ghz 100mb server. Maybe blue flags can be disabled? If not i'd try lowering max slots, maybe start with 26 and go up from there..

Could try MULTI Flag Rules="1" // Level of rule enforcement, 0=none, 1=black flags only, 2=all

Or try on 26 and keep blue flags.

I think you may well be right about the game not being able to handle that many drivers.  Undecided Embarrassed

The server is already set to Black Flags only. All flags only means include Full Course Cautions as well. Blue flags are not part of "those" flags I believe.

Couldn't quite match the 31 I'd managed offline and started 5th. After a bit of confusion at the loop I was foillowing Ruskas on lap 2 when I missed my braking point into the esses and shunted us both off. Really sorry m8  oops Strangely it was exactly what happened to me as the victim last week in the GTs - same corner, even same lap I think. Then I got hit as I recovered, but I get the feeling this might have been down to my car not being visible as it looks very odd on the replay. Rejoined in 13th and spent the rest of the race working my way back up. Had a great tussle for many laps with RS until he went off under the pressure, and spent the last few laps closing in on Simon without ever having much chance of catching (let alone passing) him. Quite happy to finish in 4th though all things considered. Well done to to the the front 2 for such bistering pace and to Simon for another consistent drive in the Mosler.

Well I had an interesting race.....

At start 3 or 4 of us nearly took everyone out at the front as there must have been a big gap between the first few and us and after accelerating out of the last turn we found a bunch of almost stationary cars at the start finish line, thankfully we all managed to miss each other and the race commenced... All was fine until the tight chicane where there was some coming together in front, there were cars and smoke everywhere so I went for a 'Days of thunder' number and went for the gap and shut my eyes and came out the other side wobbly but unscathed and after another couple of laps was up to about 5th following Greg. At this point I felt I could go much faster but was constantly looking behind as 'MO' was always there, just waiting for a mistake.... When it finally came 'MO' went the same corner, maybe he was distracted by the fact that I had a real problem stopping the car, I think this also happened later on in the race, apologies if I was unpredicatable, you should of seen what it was like driving it

Can't really remember what happened mid race other than 'Paul968' catching me up, he was faster but not too difficult to keep behind as the Ferrari's straight line speed is no match for the Porsche but still I had the problem of not being able to stop, eventually I messed up and he went through, along with my teammate with Ruskus attached to his rear. I followed them for a few laps until 'Grinsomat' was a bit heavy with the right foot at the hairpin and spun to let 'Ruskus' through. I then proceeded to watch Ruskus blow up on the Craner curves big styli completely covering the track in thick black smoke, he pulled off quickly but I still had no idea where I was going so I slowed and went straight until it cleared, unfortunately during this time 'Marko' had caught up with me and sat behind for a while until yet AGAIN I couldn't stop and he went through.

We had done quite a bit of practice for Donington but come the race it was like driving with someone else’s setup I have no idea what was wrong but late in the race I found I had brake bias on the wheel and tried changing it to the rear and it seemed to help a bit and I started to make some ground on 'Marko' then the race finished.

I was a bit gutted with 7th as I think forth would have been to hard with no mistakes and driving the car I seemed to practiced in....

Good racing by all I was sweating the whole race, thank god I winged it to 7th with everyone else’s misfortunes...

Hi That blue flag bu***rd me up as I was pulling wide to let cars through that were behind me not lapping. Minton would you be dale ? minton that race d in mod saloons as if so we have met . I did not drive mod saloons I was fully modified sports cars but used to help build several saloons or parts for them in the 80's Derek Hales rover Vitess, Robin Hood Escort , Brian Randall Sierra. It was such a wiered evening I forgive everything of every one. trouble with the blue flag job is that it distracts the driver. cheers gerald
