Moderator's Report

At the end of the formation lap there was some early acceleration from several drivers resulting in some contact on the s/f straight.
Rather than get into it in detail, I'll just remind everyone of the new start procedure using the pit limiter, which will hopefully prevent these type of incidents in the future.

Server replay time: 260s

As the pack approach Coppice for the first time Picnic is following Jan Duijs and Maurice Claessen. Jan brakes early and Maurice almost rear ends him but manages to slow, but caught out by the sudden braking Picnic cant stop in time and rear ends Maurice sending him off.
In Picnic's defense, Jan did brake unusually early even for the first lap.
Picnic took a drive through immediately after the incident so the penalty is reduced.

  • picnic (Picnic)penalty — rear ending Maurice Claessen — 0 places lost

Server replay time: 283s

Mark Jonzo is following Shark down to Melbourne and he leaves his braking quite late and has to move to the inside to avoid rear ending Shark.
He just about slows the car but there is light side by side contact with Shark as they round the apex.

Server replay time: 369s

Paul968 is rejoining at the Fogarty Esses after an off and as FlyBri, who is defending his place fro TrueTom, reaches the braking point his view is obscured by the tyre smoke. A Ferrari is clearly visible sliding out onto the grass through the tyre smoke, but the second Ferrari of Paul968 is hidden in the smoke until the last moment and Flybri is already under heavy braking when he sees it.

Paul rejoins on the extreme right of the track just before the second half of the chicane, and is attempting to keep on the far right by not accelerating hard through the corner. FlyBri's line and apparent absence of braking suggests that he either couldn't see Paul for some reason or simply hadn't registered that he was rejoining at low speed.

Ironically, had Paul not made an effort to stay tight to the right hand curb whilst getting back up to speed, FlyBri mightn't have hit him.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 386s

Maurice Claessen has been following [Zip]PY for several laps and as they reach the braking zone for the Fogarty Esses Maurice rear ends PY sending him off. PY's braking point was no different than the previous laps but he did move to the right as they neared the braking zone. Maurice swerved left but could not avoid the impact.
PY should really have chosen either the inside or outside line and stuck with it. However Maurice could have been more cautious considering that the same thing almost happened at the same bend on the previous lap.
Penalty reduced to 1 place.

  • mclaessen (Maurice Claessen)penalty — rear-ending [ZIP]PY — 1 place lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded
  • [ZiP]PYadvice — choose a definite line before the braking zone

From several post (including mine) I got the impression, that the cars were behaving differently than while practicing. How can that be possible? Could it be connected with more cars on server? Sorry if its a dumb question, I'm a hardware noob. Richs knowledge is like a medieval magic for me (Saruman!  sorcerer ).  Grin

Hey don't worry Trutom I have asked this question many a time before else where also, I am positive that the car can handle differently and not just coz of temps which were up in the race.....

We had this crop up on TPG We think there are a few reasons for this

Regarding Grip level.

You will experience it everytime, with each start of a session the grip level changes. it also chneges if you play Pract 2 on a server, leave it and rejoin it. if now Practice 2 starts again, grip level can be very difficult.

We're talking about Live track technology. Let's say we have 10 ppl without any problems, all doing clean and fast laps, grip level will be very high. if we now have 20 ppl with some not hitting the line perfectly, or being offtrack, grip level won't be any good.

if only 1 person gots trouble with his connection, bad ping to server or anything else, the whole grid will have trouble then

A track is never the same. Often the track conditions get worse when time progresses in race. Dust of people flying off, driving different lines and too much rubber on the racing line are a few reasons why it could differ. And to be honoust, I love the fast that that is ingame. If you can drive every lap on autopilot then there is no fun.

Edit: whitham beat me to it Smiley

Ok, fine. I was worried that my driving wheel was playing tricks again - which could also be as well.  Smiley

LTT works a bit diffrent !

It doesen`T matter which line 10 or 20 drivers go, LTT in GTR is time based ! sad but true ! it doesen`T matter when you pull of the racing line !
Every session the girp level changes, for example, at the beginning of the race weekend in practice 1 you will have less grip ( a bit slower times ) than in Qually 2, where you have hte most grip ( fastest laptimes possible ) .

Let`s say everybody in a race out of 10 drivers is driving 1 corner completely diffrent to the racing line, which means not the optimum line.
Still the grip level will be the best on the racing line even though you didn`t drive on that line !
This was discussed a very long time ago on RSC, maybe someone feels bored and tries to find the thread, I don`T feel bored ...lol

also the temps of air and track are changing and will give you everytime a bit diffrent feeling on how the car behaves !

also if you have got a racing setup which you tested for let`S say 10 laps, but you are using it for 30 laps, it might happen that the car feels diffrent from lap 20 cause of wearing out tires, fading brakes, grip level of the track and changing temps !

there are so many things that influence the whole car/setup..........

i'm happy i won this race since this is one of my favorite tracks. qualy was exciting, the track was very crowded but near the end i could manage a clean lap. after that i kept an eye on claus to see if he could better it, but luckily he just came short  Grin

i tried to keep my pace as steady as possible in the warm up lap, but it seems it still gave problems down the field at the start/finish straight. first race lap is always tricky and at the chicane i braked just a bit too late to make it into the corner, that gave teamie claus some problems since he lost speed because of that too and had to defend his 2nd place. after that i knew i had to drive full out to keep claus behind me, luckily my setup felt great and i could keep a 'comfortable' gap of 4/5 secs untill the end.

next up is anderstorp, definately not one of my favorites, cya there  Cool

Thanks for the moderators report Mo but I fail to see how people are not punished unless it is reported.... You gave Paul 968 a 3 point penalty the biggest I've seen but it doesn't count because no-one reported it. I understand that you can only moderate after the race but to tell everyone in writing that it was a bad manouvre and 3 points should of been deducted then not take them away because it wasn't reported is madness? I would think they felt hard done by....... There was not even a warning !!

The rules have to be seen to be applied evenly throughout the grid........
