Moderator's Report

At the end of the formation lap there was some early acceleration from several drivers resulting in some contact on the s/f straight.
Rather than get into it in detail, I'll just remind everyone of the new start procedure using the pit limiter, which will hopefully prevent these type of incidents in the future.

Server replay time: 260s

As the pack approach Coppice for the first time Picnic is following Jan Duijs and Maurice Claessen. Jan brakes early and Maurice almost rear ends him but manages to slow, but caught out by the sudden braking Picnic cant stop in time and rear ends Maurice sending him off.
In Picnic's defense, Jan did brake unusually early even for the first lap.
Picnic took a drive through immediately after the incident so the penalty is reduced.

  • picnic (Picnic)penalty — rear ending Maurice Claessen — 0 places lost

Server replay time: 283s

Mark Jonzo is following Shark down to Melbourne and he leaves his braking quite late and has to move to the inside to avoid rear ending Shark.
He just about slows the car but there is light side by side contact with Shark as they round the apex.

Server replay time: 369s

Paul968 is rejoining at the Fogarty Esses after an off and as FlyBri, who is defending his place fro TrueTom, reaches the braking point his view is obscured by the tyre smoke. A Ferrari is clearly visible sliding out onto the grass through the tyre smoke, but the second Ferrari of Paul968 is hidden in the smoke until the last moment and Flybri is already under heavy braking when he sees it.

Paul rejoins on the extreme right of the track just before the second half of the chicane, and is attempting to keep on the far right by not accelerating hard through the corner. FlyBri's line and apparent absence of braking suggests that he either couldn't see Paul for some reason or simply hadn't registered that he was rejoining at low speed.

Ironically, had Paul not made an effort to stay tight to the right hand curb whilst getting back up to speed, FlyBri mightn't have hit him.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 386s

Maurice Claessen has been following [Zip]PY for several laps and as they reach the braking zone for the Fogarty Esses Maurice rear ends PY sending him off. PY's braking point was no different than the previous laps but he did move to the right as they neared the braking zone. Maurice swerved left but could not avoid the impact.
PY should really have chosen either the inside or outside line and stuck with it. However Maurice could have been more cautious considering that the same thing almost happened at the same bend on the previous lap.
Penalty reduced to 1 place.

  • mclaessen (Maurice Claessen)penalty — rear-ending [ZIP]PY — 1 place lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded
  • [ZiP]PYadvice — choose a definite line before the braking zone

Christ, what a disaster that was.

Manged to clip [RSms]Andy into the hairpin on lap 1, then went off on lap 2, trying to get off the racing line I gave Edza nowhere to go but into me.

Apologies guys, totally my fault Sad

Dunno what's wrong with me at the moment, i can't seem to finish a race  Embarrassed

I gotta discuss some things with my hardware and my software and myself. Was training before race (open training, alone on track), made 1.32.4. Got 1.32.9 in quali session - ok, a bit of excitement, not clean laps, lots a ppl (great turnout  clap ). Then in race, the car was behaving ... don't know. Sometimes understearing, sometimes overstearing, once fronts locked up, then rears. I got a blue flag every time I passed Old Hairpin - even if noone was around. After about a half race of constant losing positons, lousy grip and whatever I got fed up with it. Too bad, as I really like this circuit.  Angry

Just wanna say thanks to all the guys for using my car as a pinball, much appreciated Angry. I got rammed off again, this time in lap 1 (what a sursprise). [...]
Had to push hard to get back up the field and blew up 15 minutes before the end.

Man, am I annoyed right now. These races are supposed to be fun, but with some kamikaze pilots out there it's more likely to take the blood under your nails.

Sorry Gents. Put in a bad performance. Yesterday 1:32- 1:33's no problem. Today no chance. At the start I cliped the back of someone on the start finish straight. For that I appologise. Is it neccesary to get round the final corner then the first guys to back everyone up. Oh and Ruskus, If A. Nother-Driver slowed you up. Why nopt overtake?Huh?

Thanks all. Catch you at Anders

Exciting race for me, wasnt pleased with my quali as a 32.3 is my pb but could only manage a 33.6 , had loads of understeer for some reason Huh.
Spun on third lap of race at coppice which put me back to 24th or 25th i think , Couldnt get any temperature into the front tyres and they only started to come in on lap 15.
Battled back to 10th in the end which was good fun. Smiley
Tires were brand new at the end ,they were better on lap 25 than they were on lap 5, need to do some set up work me thinks.

Grats to Emmo on the win and appolgies to Gerald for pulling out on him after i spun , i thought there was enough room fo you to go behind me, sorry mate.

...some Einstein showing his drivingskills.

Don't think it was me this time!!

Enjoyed that - qualified 28th (I think) after very little practice on this circuit, but had a steady first 25 minutes, sensible laps getting quick bit by bit, and avoiding trouble.  This brought me up to around 19th where I had a good tussle with a couple of guys until I spun as tyre wear kicked in and that carried on to the end of the race - even when I was trying to take it steadier (slower).

Nonetheless, with the retirements etc I finished 19th, and after qualifying that was a good result for me.

Cracking turnout, shame a few guys had a bad race....

What a race. From 20th to 27th back to 13th  Smiley

Got punted off in the first lap, rejoined almost last and tried to fight my way back up again. I would like to apoligize to the driver I rearended in the Esses in lap 3. I tried to avoid you but I locked up Sad

Finished 13th, so I'm happy Smiley

How the hell can I hold you up when we are fighting for position ? I was in front of you, and it is not my fault if you can not get  past me ! ?
just think of Alonso and Schumacher at Imola, did they moan after the race ? NO....they enjoyed it and I did so too !

I never drove ZigZag ! I defended the line !
even though it doesen`T matter , cause you blew the engine anyway !

Dude, don't blow it up. All I said is that you held me up, but I was unable to overtake you. I had to avoid a crash at some point because you braked much earlier than me. That cost me lot's of time on the guys infront. I'm not saying you held me up by unacceptable driving, not at all. It was just that I was quicker at some corners, but the lack of power in the 360 made it impossible for me to overtake you. Nor did I try a kamikaze move on you. I just stayed behind you hoping for a mistake.

So instead of twisting my words, why not PM me to ask me what I meant.

No idea how I finished 3rd. Another consistent no mistakes race I guess. Qualified 6th and just drove at my own pace trying not to do anything silly. Didn't really battle with anyone after the first few laps. Paul chased me down in the last few laps but I had it under control and eased off a little with 2 to go to take a podium and much needed points for Team Shark.

I also had the blue flags in the first 10 or so minutes at the old hairpin. No idea what that was about, was quite irritating. There was a bit of warp going on at the start, not a lot, but a little.

No worries Pops, I'm in this series for the enormous amount of fun that it gives me (having given up on trying to emulate the aliens out there - you know who you are  laugh )

Had lots of laughs and spins....and some quite remarkable laps for me (or so I thought at the time - might just check the laptimes when they're published  dots)
Still, got somewhere around 19th in the end I think....me happy chappy!

Great turnout, not sure if the last race had as many but I did suffer some intermittant lag every few laps - it was pretty bad for the first 5 laps then seemed to disappear and then came back toward the end for two different laps - was that due to people leaving at the end or the sheer load at the start?

Anyway, cheers all for a great race, hope I didn't slow any of you too much lapping me.

I must ask what the hell happened at the start, everyone shot off out the last turn then the leader slows right down and nearly causes a massive accident.....

I thought the leader should group the grid up before the start finish, like two corners before

Check the replay it was close....

Really enjoyed that race, fantastic racing from start to finish with numerous other fast guys along the way.  Cool

Qually was very tough, just couldnt get a clean lap for ages due to traffic or mistakes then got it all together to set a couple of quick times and a new PB of 1:32.8...yeehaw. angel Better than that, i actually pipped my arch rival Truetom for a change...revenge for all the times he has done it to me  Tongue and qualied 7th place.

Race started well, stuck in a sarnie with Shark in front and TT behind. All was well for a few laps then the bloody back end broke away unexpectedly on the uphill right turn and i had to sit and watch in a slow half spin as several cars shot past   :'( Shame as i really wanted to have a good little battle with my friendly rivals  Embarrassed

Anyway, rejoined in 13th and set about catching the pack in front. Paul968 had also had a half spin and the pair of us began to cut through the pack of cars moving up about 5-6 places until i caught up with TT, only to run wide at the bottom of craners whilst watching my mirrors. Managed to do that twice, both times when i got near TT....his face must put me off  Grin

The last quarter of the race was pure hard adrenaline racing as i diced with the RSM guys and Mo for lap after lap, eventually getting past both individually on the nasty tight hairpin turn near end of lap. Mo then retired a little later and i was left to fend off the hard chasing RS guy in another porker...fortunately his tyres seemed as worn as mine and i held on to bring it home in 6th place which i am very pleased with considering the talent on display tonight and the full (fantastic) grid.  rockon

Great racing.  Cool

ps forgot to add...most scary moment of the race was plunging down into the thick black smoke of Ruskus blown engine in craners whilst flat out in 5th gear !! Shocked ....reminded me of the F1 Coulthard in Monaco crash a couple of years ago  eek  Glad i got through it unscathed  Kiss

now statement to my race !

I enjoyed the race hell of a lot ! thx for the race ! grats to the Top 3 !
thx to Ruskus and Rich_A giving me a interesting race !
I was sweating like mad !

After the warmup lap I was real confused seeing, leaving the final turn before s/f line the field was the whole way up, so I accelerated cause of thinking everybody was pushing away. Then suddenly the whole front of me braked, I hardly braked down and managed to not hit anybody !

I think I was 12 after the start then........had to avoid peep spinning around, then I think it was lap 3,4 or 5 when Ruskus showed up in my mirror !
we had a hard battle for some laps until I outbreaked myself, he passed me but got hit by some other driver.
then I was following a Mosler and [RSms] RS with a 2 sec gap a while.
Rich showed up a couple of laps later, we had some close racing for some laps until he spun....when he was gone Ruskus showed up again....pushing me into a mistake !

just half a lap later the sky was going black............Jeff blew the engine......from then on I had some time to rest, bout 5 mins, until Rich showed up again and was pushing me until the end of the race.............sweating like a wild cow I managed to stay in front of him !

great race , thx !
