Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0

On lap 9, contact between EvilClive and Ziu.

Ziu was leading the race and was very closely followed by Clive.

I saw the replay and couldn't see any contact with the 2 cars but Clive was very closed to Ziu's car. Probably, a problem with GPL crashbox. Clive is an experienced driver and should know that.

By the way, Ziu doesn't want to penalize Clive, so I will consider it as a "race incident".

Season 35 – 1966 Grand Prix – Round 8 – Cadwell Park

Round 8 of the Historics Trophy  takes us to Cadwell Park in the East of England .
Fondly nicknamed the 'mini-Nürburgring', Cadwell Park will celebrate its 85th anniversary in 2019. It remains as closely-held in the hearts of many motorsport fans as it ever has. Located 10 miles north of Horncastle and five miles south of Louth, the Lincolnshire circuit is especially popular with bikers nationwide.
Cadwell Park's twisty and undulating nature, winding through open park and woodland, has marked it out as one of the best circuits in the country.
The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.
Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please read the championship specific rules on the championship standings page.
Password: see above
(2) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page - 1966

There is no Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. Remember that lap 1 incidents carry an additional penalty place.

The chassis token system is explained on the Historics Trophy standings page.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

A driver must have sufficient tokens for the chassis he drives in the race.  Any driver who does not have sufficient tokens will be disqualified from the result and his tokens will be set to zero.

The chassis a driver uses in qualifying are disregarded when determining his token spend.
Note:  This is to cater for the instances when a driver either does not start or inadvertently joins with the wrong chassis and subsequently rejoins the server in another.

Any tokens not spent at the end of the season are ignored and are not used to determine championship positions in the event of a tie.

PRO rules means Shift-Rs are not allowed at any time and the damage model is realistic.

Drivers must complete 50% race distance to score.

I'll be taking the Brabham BT11 2.7L again but this time I'll keep the revs down as Axel did at Monaco.

If you take the BT11 again, I suggest you do the same  Grin

Unless I'm mistaken a few people said in chat that they didn't like the track  Roll Eyes   I thought it was perfect for the 66s. Difficult to pass but a nice flowing circuit with a good mix of fast and slow corners.

I heeded Axel's advice and kept the revs down below 6500rpm (well I tried to) and the engine survived intact. I drove steadily in the race and I was quite surprised not to be the one making mistakes. It is usually me that makes the unforced errors, although a made a few in the latter stages when I lost concentration because I'd been circulating on my own for the best part of 30 laps.

Grats to Evil on the win but it was a bit of an erratic drive. He was up and down the pribluda leader board like a yoyo.

Apologies to anyone who was disturbed by my driving at Cadwell Park. I was disappointed by my erratic drive and I am reporting myself for the contact with Ziu that put him out of the race  Undecided.

As Phil says this track has a lot going for it, except anywhere to make a pass !! I appeared to have the pace to perhaps get a win, but Ziu surged ahead before T1 and the pattern was set. I knew that I was over driving in the race, but I could not get my brain to take control.

When I made a mistake and ran wide/spun I could easily catch the leaders again, but it was very difficult to work a passing opportunity.

No problem, Clive. i never could do a report against you with all battles we had in past on GTL and now on GPL races. If you decided to do report, like you did ( i riceveid it on PM) against yourself i accept that but not was a problem if you not did.

Anyway before start this one i knew that with this layout Cadwell Park not was a good track for my arm (Clive knows about my left arm since we were racing on GTL) so i thought to do a setup not to be fast but to work less my arm with all this corners and countersteering. I mean that i blocked all the differential of my Ferrari to avoid much work on my arm to controlling my g27. Because it i give up to have a fast pace but it has been less painful for my arm. GPL for me it s more fun than GTL but drive GPL it s worst for my arm than drive GTL, for sure

I probably expressed some discontent with the track in Chat but the reality is I had not practiced enough. There were a couple of turns where optimum braking & the right line made the difference between staying on track & upside down in a ditch. Pleased to have finished even though I span off several times in the last couple of laps.

I've loaded the chassis the drivers used into the token calculator spreadsheet.  For the next race the available tokens will be as declared in the table below (the table will also appear in the next race announcement).  The calculated values are automated but selecting the cars is a manual process so please check your tokens to make sure I haven't made a silly error. There was no token overspend for this round so no one is disqualified.
