Moderator's Report

Summary
A great drive by JonnyO in Lotus on a track that doesn’t afford the superior chassis a significant advantage. Greg secured second place in a Brabham with Tim claiming third in a Honda.

Server replay time: 0h45m01s

Lap 26 – Turn 8 – David Rainier and Andreas Gebhardt.
After a race long titanic struggle, David and Andreas are side by side through Charlton. Andreas gets ahead and holds a tight inside line for Turn 8. David misjudges his braking and rear-ends Andreas.

This is clearly David’s fault but at the victim's request leniency will be shown in this case.

Season 35 – 1967 F1 – Round 9 – Mont-Tremblant

The ninth race in the 1967 F1 series finds us at Mont Tremblant in Canada. Circuit Mont-Tremblant is a 4.26 km (2.65 mi) race circuit about 13 km (8.1 mi) south of the village of Mont-Tremblant in Quebec. The name of the village of Saint-Jovite was often included in the name of the circuit, but since the village was amalgamated into Mont-Tremblant in the year 2000, it is no longer considered or functions as an independent entity since then.

The first two sections of the circuit were built in 1964 and extended by another mile into September 1965. The extension featured long straights and by virtue of the terrain, a small hill. Nicknamed "the Hump" it gained legendary status during the inaugural 1966 Can Am race. Two drivers in practice found that their cars, both near identical Lola T70 CanAm cars, launched themselves into the air. Both drivers emerged unhurt but were unable to compete in the race. The Canadian winters quickly rendered the track surface very bumpy and as a result, the attrition rate was quite high in the two Canadian Grand Prix Formula One events staged at the circuit. Of the 40 cars entered in those two races (20 each, in 1968 and 1970), 21 reached the checkered flag (with only 16 classified – the rest finishing too far behind the race winners).

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

A fun race but a little frustrating. A blown engine dropped me to last place and as I worked my way back into contention (for the Privateers race) I got delayed twice trying to avoid other drivers crashes. Eventually finishing well down the field, but that's racing taz

Great to see both championships are finely balanced as we head for the final round at Silverstone. Good luck everyone!

Well, after a new PB in Q this one could have been an interesting race if I hadn't been too cautious at T1 and put a wheel on grass to not risk a contact at T2 with a following wide. Restarted dead last but soon after I found an Eagle sideways under the bridge and couldn't avoid it. Restarted even more dead last. I set a PB catching the backmarker and had to find my way through them without rear ending nobody, till I caught Ricardo and Eric battling for 6th. Tried many braking moves on Ricardo's Lotus and had to battle also with some warping but no story with his power till he went inside with Eric at last hairpin and I was caught in their crash, ended laying on two wheel, end of story  Cry
Of course it was almost half distance... Roll Eyes

Quite an entertaining race between the Privateer drivers. Apologies to Phil for the spin late in the race I missed my brake point after letting the lead car through & you obviously got caught up. You did get track position when we rejoined but unluckily gave the place back on the next lap. Look forward to Silverstone.

..indeed an interesting race, also for works-drivers.
I not tried to push to much as I only had about 3-4 hours of learning this track. So P4 or 5 in Quali was ok. I tried to see the checkered flag and make no mistakes. All went well until Tristan spun and I couldn´t avoid to hit him. As I lost time, I immediatly stopped trying catching the guys in front. P3 was the target from now on. And as I made my only mistake a few laps later many hopes were gone. But others made mistakes too...and that brought me back to P3 -lucky me! If only Gregs fuel would leave him a bit earlier Wink

Big gratulations to JonnyO and Greg Taber for beating this slippy track and reaching 1 and 2!!

Q: "The final championship positions will be determined after each driver has discarded their worst two results"
What are the worst results exactly? Do I have to discard "DISCO"-races with 0 points or only results with points?

thx, tim

O point is one of the worst results.

At this moment, your 2 worst results are 0 and 7 points.

Sorry again Andreas.

I would like to have a look to the replay but I cannot download it ...
I was really surprised by your early braking at this place. But it is my fault.
Anyway, I will report an incident.
...but it seems there is no moderation for 67 races this season.

About the race, It was a very important one for me as I have several points to remove (the famous 2 worst results) and Andreas/Eric have no points at all to remove.

The first part of the race was good for me, I was following Eric  before he took and advantage of around 5/6 seconds
On lap 11 or 12, Eric had an accident with 2 other racers and he retired (don't know why he didn't reset     Huh)
By the way, I was leading the race for Privateers with 13 seconds before Andreas, Billy and Phil.
Unfortunately, I made several errors losing a couple of seconds each time, and I also loose times leting works drivers overtake me without battle.
So the gap with Andreas was reduced to zero and he could overtake me at the exit of a turn.
A few seconds after, I rearended him unvolontarily (of course!).

Anyway Andreas will be Privateers champion if he finish the race at Silverstone.
After Ste Jovite, I have 288-23 = 265 points and Andreas 282
Moreover, I must be penalized fo the incident so the gap will be bigger !

Yes, and Jonny is 13 points ahead GregT
so if Greg win at Silverstone and you'll finish 2nd  and JonnyO 3rd, the 3 will have the same total of points.
It could be funny !

I don't know how the champion will be determined  Huh maybe the greatest number of wins ?

I'm afraid that is down to me being rather tardy with my moderating duties. My excuse is that I try to limit my time spent on GPL to a finite total (moderator's duties plus driving). I've been trying to improve my driving this season (and I think I have had some success) but to the detriment of my moderating tasks. I'll try to get the races moderated ASAP, particularly since the drivers would like to know their true league positions before the final round.

I have no problem with that. I know you long enough to know that you are a fair Driver. So lets move on for that great Finale in Silverstone.
