Race 1

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (10 mins) Drivers must not leave qualifying to change car make.
Race: 20:30 (24 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops required: No

Server: simracing.org.uk Wednesdays
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

You do not have to use the same make in both races. Entirely up to you.

Found the issue with the elan not showing, last time I was in GTL I had the field trimmed via GTL tool, so a lot of cars were turned off in that....took some remembering....

Thanks for hosting etc, good to get the kit out again, but it revealed a few issues with my wheel and pedals that I will need to sort. I will try to make this nice and regular though.

And before Dom jumps in, I got lucky with this event for a comeback after 2 years, track was easy to learn plus the elan was always a car I went OK in and I could find a setup for in my garage, so was a gentle reintroduction for me.

Cheers.

Another great event here.

The first qualy was quite bad, but expected. I thing i was 4th but made bad start and gone down to 5th. Till the end i tried my best to overtake Coyote but he was consistant and i didnt manage to do the job. Sorry for some little bump on some of the guys cars.

The second qualy was way betterl. I've changed the setup a little bit and the ressult was positive. Unfortunately Geoffers took the pole at the very last moment so i was going to start from P2. It was better starrt this time, but stilll losing one position. That Daz went in the barriers and Gristo overtaked me and i was 3tth. A postion i kept till the end. Tryed to catch Hristo and Geoffers but they were so fast.

I somehow thought that we had to use both cars last night. Yes, OK so I know that it says about that in the race post, but men don't read instructions do they??
I did my usual server test late in the afternoon and surprise, surprise I found that the Elan was about a second quicker almost straight out of the box, so I spent a little more time trying to tame the Porker.
I figured that as we had to use both cars  Roll Eyes  that I would use the Porker first and get it out of the way, then switch to the Elan for the second race. So when I saw that almost the whole grid for the first race was made up of Elans, I thought that my chances looked good for Race 2  Wink....that proved to be a false hope!! lol
Some last minute setup adjustments to the setup solved what had been a somewhat unstable braking problem and I found in the first few laps that I could stand on the brake pedal and stop the car in a straight line.....provided that I remembered to stand on it at the right moment.
A good start gained me a place or two off the grid and I was amongst the Elans. But I knew that unless they made a mistake I did not have the raw pace to make a pass. Initially there was a good battle with Matt and apologies for the nudge of encouragement to Erling in the early laps, but Matt was getting very insistent from behind at that point. Gradually I eased away and ran most of the race a lonely 6th, but in retrospect I am pleased to have been the first of the Porkers and to have been in front of a few Elans.  Grin

If I may ask, how did you do that? I found the problem insolvable with the ensuing predictable consequences (Not that I was much better in the Elan though....  Lips Sealed).

Congrats for taking that spastic little ferret not only to the finish but in a more than reasonable position.

Race 1 was a hard battle from start to finish.  First against Dan until I made a mistake at the 2nd hairpin at let him through.  Couldn't keep pace with him and instead had a very close battle with Dimitar right till the finish.  Took a very concentrated drive to stay ahead of him.

Grats to Geoffers on victory, and Hristo & Dan for their podiums.

Race 2 I had Clive in close attendance early on. It finally started to sink in that everyone else were taking a much wider entry into the chicane, so I tried emulating that.  Meant I missed my braking point a few times, finally doing it big time, hitting the barrier and letting Clive past.  He was courteous enough to spin at the 1st hairpin the next lap and give me back the position. Very slowly eased away from him over the remainder of the race, with another very concentrated drive.  Not making any inroads in the lead of the car ahead, so no possibility of catching it.

Grats again to Geoffers & Hristo, and to Dimitar this time.  Thumbs up again for the latter for the video and commentary - always interesting to see things from someone else's viewpoint  Smiley

Couple of good results & races.

First race, despite a good start I got mugged at T1 & dropped back to 4th, recovered 2 places when both Erling & Dan ran wide at the 2nd hairpin. Chased hard after Hristo but initially made no impression, eventually started to catch up & when I got a good slipstream on the S/F straight & pulled alongside down to T1, Hristo braked a fraction too late & I could nip through on the tighter line. Once ahead I could not pull away until Hristo made a mistake & the gap jumped to 10s. Took it a little easy through the lapees on the last 3-4 laps & brought it home.

Race 2, just pipped Dimitar for pole in the closing moments of qually, got a great start & although first Daz & then Hristo chased hard, Hristo closing the gap mid race, I held on for a second win.

Congrats to Hristo, Dan & Dimitar on their podiums.  clap clap clap

Yes, great video again Dimitar, really enjoyed watching.  thumbup2

Good to see old NG colleague  Daz put in an appearance, hope it will become a regular occurrence.

If I remember later I will upload my Elan setup for those struggling.
