Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 192s

Incident involving Phil Kerins, JohnnyDee and Shark. Phil states hes having problems with Sharks ghosting car and tags the back of him. JohnnyDee reports that Phil is coming to fast down the straight, as drivers head toward the spot where pit limiter is to be engaged, and rear-ends Johnny. Close examination of the replay shows that Shark is having technical issues, in my replay from 158s to 217s Sharks car is "hung" in the right hander after the chicane so I cant verify Phils ghost problem but agree there is a problem. However, I have to agree with JohnnyDee, Phil appears to be going to fast and brakes to late to avoid rear ending Johnny. Even allowing for a ghosting car this incident should not have happened.

Server replay time: 290s

JohnnyDee misses his braking point into the 2nd chicane and rear ends Locutos who as a result veers into Dan Minton. Locutos goes through the gravel trap collecting a cut track warning, Dan Minton loses a place. Johnny does allow Dan to re-pass on the next lap, penalty reduced by 1.

Server replay time: 430s

Several incidents reported by JohnnyDee involving Shark. Shark has apologised for any problems he caused during the race in public forum, he was not aware he was lagging or he would have dropped.

Technical issue.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1424s

Reported incidents at 1424 and 1444 by Popabawa and 1460 by Don. Complaints of intimidating flashing lights by Ruskus and Pero when lapping. I quote from rules on lights usage:

"Drivers may flash their headlights (either on-off during the day or off-on during the night) to warn other drivers of their presence. However, a driver being flashed shall not be obligated to let them pass".

Quite frankly Don and Pops I see nothing intimidating in the replay, the 2 lead racers are simply telling you they are there, and obviously it worked. Judging from past incidents where lapped drivers have failed to notice the blue flashing light on the dash warning of an impending car about to lap them, I think Ruskus and Pero are well within there rights.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1472s

Bill Thomas locks his brakes and loses time into the turn. JohnnyDee states that Bill came back through the racing line on the exit of the turn forcing Johnny to back off and lose time. The replay shows Bill exited the turn slowly but DID NOT do anything untoward. Johnnys speed though the turn carries him naturally towards the point Bills car occupied and therefore Johnny would have to back off to avoid contact unless he expects other drivers to stop and let him by.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1520s

Bill Thomas approaches the left turn after the S/F straight. He is slower than JohnnyDee who carries much more speed into the turn locking the front in doing so. Johnny states that Bill swung out at the last instant from the left lane onto the racing line. Do I have a different replay to everyone else? I see nothing wrong with Bills line or the way he moved to position himself for the turn. However, Bill should by now have been aware that he was being lapped and would have been better off staying on the left side of track taking a tighter and slower line through the turn allowining JohnnyDee to pass safely.

  • BillThomas (Bill)advice — Be aware of drivers lapping you, blue light flash on dash.

Is there a results file yet so I can make a lapchart?

Yup, I asked when the limiter should be applied. But some people might not look in chat, or have in car chat off. Plus the fact that there were many new guys, so it doesn't hurt to tell when the limiter is on. That I said limiter on was NOT the reason for large gaps in the field, that has been a fact ever since the rolling starts.

Oh well, there are always people trying to find a excuse for losing.

I thought the pit-limiter reminder was a good idea personally. Everybody further down should know that they dont need to activate it until the designated corner. Its a good idea that the pole sitter notifies everyone to avoid people being rear-ended.

As it showed on the 3-2-1 countdown when someone shot past me rather than cruising for the formation lap, it proves not everybody reads the rules  Roll Eyes

I thought the start worked very well under the 'limiter' rules.

I thought the same.

It's a shame GTL doesn't have a warmup session so we could remind people of the start procedure.

As my car was doing funny things so didn't really get to assess it properly from my mid-field starting position, one thing that might be an issue is...

Did all the guys at the back get their limiter on before Ruskus had crossed the line? I think the whole field needs to be on the limiter before anyone crosses the line, which means we might want to bring the limiter on earlier than the last corner in future to make sure the whole field has had time to get near the guy in front and stick his limiter on.

We don't want people getting into a mad scramble to get near the guy in front to get the limiter on only to find the field ahead is already going going going cause the leader has started. Everyone needs a few moments of calm under the limiter before the start gets underway.

I put the limiter on half way down the back straight. I thought that would have been early enough, but next time (if I get pole ever again), I'll put it down earlier. From my point of view I saw the grid close together so I thought it went well, but further down the grid it was a problem.

I'm not saying that's necessary as I couldn't tell with my ghosting car what was going on. Just a thought that the guys at the back should have a few moments on the limiter to settle down before getting going. If it was ok then that's great. The bigger the field the earlier it needs to come on I guess.

I was right near the back and other than a bit of dithering ahead there was plenty of time for me to form up.
