Server: simracing.org.uk Wednesday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Hopefully, the Renault will be available for this, and all future races.

Please let me know (before race night) if you haven't downloaded the Renault 5 fix.

embarrassing…..
After my second stop I rejoined just infront of Clive who had also been in for tyres, fuel, repair or whatever he had forgotten during his stop the  lap before( Wink . I thought it a good idea to make his life as miserable as possible to make him get rid of all negative memories of his completely ridiculous pitstop strategy. We had a great battle for many laps  Clive's Renault being the faster car but with of bit of driving on the edge of good manners (Tony's frown sometimes hovered above my car) I sort of managed to keep the aggressive b.... behind my Toyota. I was all smiles for laps on end until ofcourse I went off at the end of the start finish straight (tyres and too busy defending) and he slipped through on the inside never too see him again until the finish line where I discovered that I hadn't been fighting Clive but Kurt who was about to lap me the moment I rejoined ! Istead of racing him I should have given him all the space in the world to overtake me! How embarrassing can Life get ?!
Sorry Kurt for holding you up for so many laps thus granting Geoffers another victory ( Grin) I hope you enjoined our unnecessary little war all the same, I did anyway.
If Tony considers some sort of  disciplinairy action: I am prepared to do next race on three wheels !

Great racing Kurt.

Thanks all for a great evening. My racing results hardly ever reflect the amount of fun I get from these races.

Cheers, Dan

A mixed evening's fun for me which ended rather prematurely  Undecided

Grats to the podium(s) and Kurt seemed to have found his perfect car in the Renault 5 turbo  Shocked. Superb pace Kurt.

I thought I knew the track from GPL, but some sneaky person had reversed the direction!! which I only discovered when I dropped onto the server during the afternoon and spent 30 mins lapping with Dan and his Toyota. With no real plan on what car to use I tried a couple during the afternoon session and when Dan left I tried the Renault.
Having attempted to drive/coax/direct the Metro a few minutes before I was not anticipating any success, but if the Metro is a delinquent and wayward dog that wants to run off the road with zero provocation, then the Renault is a refined and compliant obedience dog who just wants to succeed!! I honestly could not understand the difference... and the 5 secs in the laptimes!!
Strangely when it came to the evening's hostilities someone had stolen all of my Renaults and I had to re-install with Tony's help just before qualifying. Once again I had not done any long runs to work out fuel/tyres etc so was just going to wing it for the pitstops.

At the start both Kurt and myself discovered the Achilles heel of the Renault as the whole grid swept past and left us both at the back of the pack  Undecided Our task of getting back towards the podium places with what should have been faster cars, was not made any easier by those drivers in the slower classes driving faster than nature intended!! Roll Eyes
My info, after a couple of laps, was that I could expect 18 laps from my tank of fuel and judging by the tyre wear I was going to need some rubber at the first stop. Maybe Kurt was running longer gears than I was, but I was a little surprised when he continued as I pulled into the pits with only 0.5 laps of fuel available?
OK fuel and tyres please Mr pit man!! ( I am still unable to turn off the autopit feature Tony? I have tried multiple times with permissions ON and OFF, but with no success??).
Pit stop complete and we exit pits being careful with speed limiter. Back on track and I glance at the nice new tyres thinking that I need to be just a little kinder to them so that I only need a splash and dash for the second stop. Glance at the projected laps of fuel and 1.5laps!!!! Somehow I had only taken on about 1 gall??!!  Another trip to the pits and extra careful to fill tanks and set off a couple of secs down on Dan. When Kurt caught me and I allowed him through, I did notice that Dan appeared to be racing him and I guessed why that might be. A case of mistaken identity in the mirrors??
This did allow me to close on the pair of them, but I was reluctant to make Kurt's life even more of a problem by attempting to unlap myself so I sat behind hoping that Kurt would find a way past and then I could have a crack at Dan and his Toyota. I felt for Kurt and I understood what Dan thought he was doing, but it was slowing down my laptimes and I was unsighted at some corners.
Then I had a cunning plan...… All cars were probably going to have a second pitstop towards the end of the race, and my Renault had a slight speed advantage over the lower group cars. But 8 laps was probably not enough to make that advantage work, so if I pit NOW with 16 laps to go and fill the tanks I can run in clear air until they make their stops and maybe do the "undercut"??

The plan was good, the execution less so! I'm still not entirely sure what happened, or why it happened but either my calculations were wrong or I punched a hole in my fueltank on one of the kerbs, but with 6 laps to go the engine coughed and died....no fuel.

No choice but to quit and walk home  Undecided It was hectic fun while it lasted guys.

Quite liked this track  Smiley  My preferred car was the Escort, but I held the Renault in reserve, depending on what everyone else were driving. I would only use it if I believed I had a shot at overall victory, but when Geoffers showed up in an Alfa, it was clearly not the case!  In addition, Kurt was a full second faster in the Renault than I had been offline!!  Shocked

Big fun jumping the Renaults at the start  Grin  First stint was a hard fight with Dan. Gap hovered between 1-2 secs, but eventually he drew closer, promptly executing a rather kamikaze overtake attempt. Granted, I didn't give him many inches, but it sent me far into the kitty litter. When I had dug myself out, the two Renaults had gone past.  Dan waited, but the lost time of course couldn't be reclaimed. Those seconds would have been most welcome towards the end, when Kurt snatched 2nd from under my nose  Shocked

Believe Dan had a moment late in the stint, as he suddenly vanished from sight.  Pit only for fuel - twice. As I exited from the 2nd stop, I found myself right in the debacle between Dan, Kurt & Clive. All slipped past, but Clive went off right after.  Had a grand stand view of the battle between Dan & Kurt. Couldn't understand why 5th place Dan seemingly was fighting nail and tooth with 2nd place Kurt, especially when the latter probably wanted to put as much distance between himself & me.  Contemplated if I should wait for Kurt, if the two should tangle, as I thought his 2nd place was well deserved, and I wouldn't risking anything, with a fair gap to the 4th place car.  Thankfully it never came to fruition.

Grats to Kurt on a well earned 2nd, and to Geoffers on a win that was never in question!   Commiserations to Clive on the fuel issue.  All the cars I tested here couldn't do the number of laps the setup or pit board showed, so maybe that was what fooled you.  My Escort for example, needed 13 laps worth of fuel on the setup & pit board, to complete 9 actual laps.  Can't remember the values for the Renault, but believe they were even farther off.

Not much to say about this race, just happened to turn up with the fastest car. It wasn't as quick through the twisty bits as the smaller cars but was so much quicker on the fast bits it was a bit embarrassing. Still it was quite a fun race on a nice track.

Shame Kurt got penalised, but all the cars should require 2 pitstops in these races.

Congrats to Erling & Kurt on the podium.  clap clap

Result

 Cool

No prob Dan - great fun. Simply wanted to finish and didn't want to get lost during the final stages. But sh.. happens  Tongue

In fact I had both versions of the R5 installed (GTC-76, 50 litre fuel capacity & TC65, 96 litre fuel capacity).
I can only assume that the server choose the wrong one (same car, same car #,  identified TC65 before GTC-76 - no idea
(maybe the reason for the recent problems concerning the R5 ETCC)).
Deleted both versions now and will make a new install.

I think if you do get held up by a lappee (not a real word but you know what I mean) a flash of the headlamps would be considered Ok.

BTW the server did not have the TC-65 R5 installed but this car has totally confused me so I concede that anything is possible.
