Championship standings HERE

Car/Track download available by pm to WT

Track: Enna-Pergusa '76-'85 GP

Car restrictions: Four drives maximum per Division. Check your car allowance here

Points: We are recreating the scoring system that was used in the 1983 ETCC. Overall race result, top 6 scored 9-6-4-3-2-1, In each division, top 10 scored 20-15-12-10-8-6-4-3-2-1.

Practice: ~19:20 BST (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 BST(20 mins) Drivers must not leave qualifying to change car make.
Race: 20:40 BST (30 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: x2
Pit stops required: YES

Server: simracing.org.uk Wednesday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

Metro doesn't seem to be avaibable on the server?

And. I get no engine sounds for the SDI, I did have in the past.
This is a different machine though. Don't remember having to get
any special sound files

Metro is now available. I do get sound on the SDI. Here is a link if you wish to install the sound files for this car again.

I did some tests on the track and it appears there is no line to define the start of the pitlane speed limit, so make sure you figure out where it is if you haven't ran the track before (I haven't). Also, there doesn't seem to be a pit stall to show you where to stop, just an NPC waving, not sure if that's normal for GTL, it's been so many years since I last played it. And lastly, is it normal that I can't access the pitstop menu before actually making a stop? It makes it more costly to run the cars that can't make the distance without 2 stops.

You have reminded me to practice pit stops. Usually, you need to be at pit lane speed before the pit lane entry lights. A lot of tracks do not have markings for pit boxes, so approach the guy really slowly. You will have to practice this to find out which side of the guy you need to be, unless it's really obvious. GTR2 allowed for pit menu access before the race but I don't think GTL does.

EDIT: Pit lane speed limit is 40MPH. You need to be on the RHS of the pit chief.

I don't think I will be making this race guys. A win 10 update appears to have been the culprit in totally screwing up my PC.

I was not even able to do a Restore or Restart to reboot the OS. After a telephone call to the PC manufacturer and a short discussion, it was quickly decided that a new install of Win 10 was required, but because the update had corrupted files, it needed a full format and a clean start.  Undecided

So, today has been spent slowly re-acquiring all of the bits and pieces to rebuild GPL. I will start on GTL this evening but I'm not going to be ready for Enna and frankly my eyes are knackered from staring at a monitor for 8 hours!!

Enjoy the hostilities guys and I hope I will be up and running with GTL for next week....stand by for questions  Wink

Fingers crossed, Clive !

A track which would force me to think about my racing future. Always hated this chicaned (= artificial) stuff - also in reality.
Got a stop & go penalty when crashing out during lap 2 and left for good with about 90 seconds behind the leaders after 2 laps.  Tongue

I have been there and done that Clive.  Just before Win 7 was deemed obsolete sometime during the night the powers that be decided I needed Win 10.  It was all messed up and I had to call my daughter who is the family PC guru and she fixed it up by deleting a bunch  files and locked up the area that takes updates.  Have not had any problems since but I'm sure at some time they will figure out a way to get into it again.  Good luck with yours!!!

As for the race total disaster for me.  I had no practice at all because a bunch of us old veterans volenteered to deliver groceries to the homes for a local store to old folks and such.  Only drove about 5-6 laps before and then I had chosen the wrong Toyota.  Thought it was the one we used in the other races.  Dumb move.  Then I moved off line to let someone lap me and didn't get back in time and skidded into the wall in the straight thru, fast chicane.  Was fun while it lasted.  Always liked this track.  See you all next week unless the bad bug gets me!!!

First win in the UKGTL for me. It was a nice feeling. Smiley

We (Me and Hristo) had a good training these days and scouted the cars before deciding witch one to use.

Hristo shocked me at the qualify with that fast 1:47 e provided. I was pushing to beat him and start from the pole but he was so fast. Then i decidet to practise starts, but unfortunately the time was up.

At the start i once again was terible. Didnt used the clutch and the result was bad. At the begining of the first corner i was 6th i think. Then at the begining of sector 2 Dan colided with the tyre bariers and i wasnt enable  to avoid him as the game teleporting him in the right side of my car for witch i am very sorry to him (the hit).

After that i started a battle with Coyote. My car was better at the corners but he had more power on the straight lines so there was no chance to overtake him if he dont make a mistake. There was oportunity to try and make a overtake diving in the corners but i decided not to rush things and risk an incident. Fortunately for me he maded a mistake at the end of the last chicane in sector 1 so i was promoted to P2. Started catching Hristo in P1, making the fastest lap of the race so far and thought i have a chance for the win.

The first stop was bad. I missed the pit stop position so had to go back and front again. Finaly i was out of the pits and few laps later i saw Hristo making second stop. I knew he was geting a stop and go or drive through penalty and that was the moment i started thinking about wining this event.

The second stint was good, i was matching Hristo's pace and had more than 20 second lead. At the second stop the story replayed once again - couldnt find the right spot on the box and once again - reverse, neutral and 1st. Cheesy I knew if i was able to get out of the pits in time i will be 90% winning the race.

The third stint was bad. I dont know if i was a little bit tired, lost focus or i dont know but the lap times was bad - 1 to 2 seonds slower, plus few missed corners, especialy turn 1, locking the brakes.

Congrats to the second and third placed guys and hope to see you guys (all of you) next - at the No Grip Nostalgia Hillclimb.  Tongue
