Race: 20:40 (22 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: x2
Pit stops required: YES

Server: simracing.org.uk Wednesday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

We had good chase with Coyote and Daz after my poor start. Unfortunately we had thunderstorm here and the internet connection broke down.

After few little bumps Daz just had enough of me and let me pass without fight.  Grin Grin Sorry Daz your car was just so wide and big, that made it an easy target for my car Cheesy

Was as much my fault in some ways Dimitar, the car was proving to be a bit of a handful. eek cursing..I let you go as I was just getting in the way as opposed to actually defending my position, and that just felt wrong....

Didn't have enough speed to stay with Erling, and then first pit stop went very wrong, and I had to go back and forward several times for it to register. That lost me any chance of challenging with strategy, and I had to just bring it home. Easier said than done as it was sideways everywhere, more like a rally car half the time, which did mean it was at least entertaining  clown lol

Enjoyed throwing the Alfa around Spa but not the most exciting race.

After qualifying on pole I was very slow away as I was conscious of the car rolling forward & did not want to jump the start so kept my foot on the brake until the lights changed. Was 3rd for the first lap & then got a good run through Radillon on lap 2 & got past Erling on the straight. Ziu (good to see you put in an appearance) was already 3+s ahead & it took several laps to close the gap, finally caught him on lap7 just as he went for his first stop. Did one more lap before I pitted.

After the stops I was surprised to have a 9s lead over Ziu so concentrated on not making mistakes rather than going flat out. Still managed to increase my lead & got an even bigger advantage after the second stops & came home comfortably ahead.

Congrats to Ziu & Erling & to Kurt in the 1600s.  clap clap clap

Bad luck Dimitar.

Result

 Cool

In fact the Escort was the only choice with a realistic chance to see the chequered flag,
although I really don't like all Escorts after the Escort MkII  Smiley
With all other options left I would not have been able to complete one single lap.....

Grats to the various class winners.
Like Kurt I was sort of forced into the Escort as,  the only other cars that remained on my list just would not behave around Spa  Undecided I found the Escort surprisingly nimble even if it lacked pure top speed, but at least it felt more driveable.

My race was a complete catalogue of errors and by the end I was laughing at the absurdity of it all.
First I had not filled the tank for the start, which I discovered when the fuel expired after 7 laps!!! and Kurt carried on for another 2 laps in his Escort.
At the pit stop I fumbled around for an eternity before getting my selection right and then discovered that I had got a speeding penalty for the pitlane!!! OK, drive it like I stole it for the next stint to try and catch Kurt, but only succeeded in making more mistakes and losing time and then the pinnacle of skill and planning ..................I forgot to enter the pits  oops and had to limp around with 0.7 galls for another lap in 5th gear. TBH if the pitlane had not been downhill my car would not have coasted into the stall with a dead engine  Roll Eyes.
The last laps were just a case of avoiding being lapped by Kurt in the other Escort, that would just have completed a perfect evening lol.
Kurt was just too fast in his Escort, and as for the Alfas and big bangers I had zero chance of bothering them!!! lol.

The good news is that I won't be around for the next 2 weeks to embarrass myself further as we are "isolating" ourselves in a caravan in Cornwall until 25th Aug. Have fun without me guys   Wink

Undramatic race, but still requiring concentration in parts.

Got the jump on Dimitar & Geoffers at the start, but the latter soon got past at the start of L2.  The front runners disappeared, but Daz was a constant menace in my mirrors during the first stint.  After his stop, I had a big gap, but my 2nd stop brought us together again.  When he did his 2nd stop, the gap got large again, and thus wasn't a close race apart from early on.

Grats to Geoffers & Ziu, commiserations to Dimitar & Matt for their early baths.
