Just hate the way the Jag refuses to go around a turn at speed.

Yes, it definitely didn't like turning too quickly, had to be coaxed into every turn I found, although some setup work did help a little.

Dimitar is half correct, I saved fuel pretty much all race, the tank only showed as 3/4s full but I could get no more into it. Did a couple of faster laps at the end of the first stint to push the gap out a little when DD pitted, but then ran around saving fuel for the whole of the second stint. Crossed the line with 0.5 laps worth left, so worked out OK.

Jag was very quick, but not the easiest to get a proper lap with due to the chicane being a right pest. Required scrubbing off a lot of speed to get through it legally. Would be a nightmare on a track with more turns for sure.

Grats to the podium and the big bangers, I was very tempted to run the BMW, but could not quite get the handling sorted and kept getting a "CUT TRACK" at the chicane ( Tony's police friends were hiding in the trees!!  shifty
Gave a quick try of the Alfa and thought it might be wasted on this track so saved that and opted for the VW at the last minute. The only reason for that was that it promised a single pitstop  Wink

The early laps were fun with Tony and Matt, but Tony decided that crash testing the barriers was more important and Matt objected to paying the fuel price in Austria!!
So I was on my own  Undecided

I never expected to win this race or be on the podium, but I would like to see the replay and see where I was lapped twice?? If I passed the pits with other cars doing their stops I did not move up the leaderboard, or have the lap down cancelled?? As I only stopped once, and was still lapping at the same pace on lap 34 as I was on lap 2, I should have been within a lap of the leaders...at least I thought that I would be? Just wonder if the server dropped me a lap somewhere?

I lapped you Clive, and I was lapped myself, so sounds right with two laps, but of course can't say where or how it happened.

Results and replay now posted.

Thanks goes to Matt for the offer of a backup server in case ours went lumpy side up. Much appreciated.

I loved that event. Even though i had started learning the circuit 30 minutes before the qualy. It's one nice little circuit that can be learned fast though so i had no problem with that. The only problems were with the setup as Daz totally outplayed me with 1.7 seconds and Geoff just behind him.

It was strange in the race that lap after lap i was keeping with Daz's pace and just slower than Geoffers who was in P3. I was lucky as Coyote once again made brilliant start. His slipstream helped me overtaking Geoff few corners later.

The first pit stop went very good as i was now in P1 after Daz made his one and i had decent lead to him and Geoffers. Here somewhere i started to realize that Daz is saving fuel for 1 stop strategy. The problem was that saving fuel for 1 pit stop was not possible for my car and i had so many problems with front left tire. I was thinking about her the whole race and at some points i was saving her from wearing too much.

At the end Daz made it with just 1 stop to the mechanics and took the victory home Smiley

Congrats to Him for the win and to Geoffers for the podium.

Really quite like this track.  Beemer being the only car I hadn't used, and as it was ok to drive here, was the obvious choice.  Had considered making a plan B, in case the class was completely alien infested, but never got round to it.

Apart from gaining a couple of places at the start, and holding Geoffers up for a couple of laps, the race itrself was about as exiting as watching paint dry.  Gaps just too great for anything interesting to take place.

Puzzled by the chicane - with two laps left and no warnings yet, I decided to take some liberties, expecting a warning, but didn't get any  Huh

A bit like Erling's race, mine too was lacking excitement after the opening laps. Struggled to get past Erling's fast starting BMW which was slightly quicker on the straights but slower in the turns. Once past I started to catch Daz & Dimitar but only very slowly & pitted before getting close. Rest of the race was just a case of reeling off the laps, did run 2nd for a while after Daz made his only stop but realistically was never going to do better than 3rd without a mistake from the front two.

Congrats to Daz & Dimitar & also to Clive in the lone 1600.  clap clap clap

Regarding the chicane, I too found the cut warnings to be erratic when practicing, mainly on the second part. Cutting just a bit too much gave a warning but a ridiculously large cut went unpenalised  Huh.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I could not find a repeatable "safe" line through the chicane with the big BMW during practice. Like Geoffers said, there seemed to be penalties issued when I felt confident that I had nailed the line and simply run 2 wheels over the rumble strips and on another lap I could hit the bollards into the next field and pass unscathed??  It was the prospect of what looked like an inevitable penalty that spurred me to try something different. The cunning science from my side was that a smaller car would have more space through that part of the circuit, hence the appearance of a VW Golf on the grid.

BTW, I did initially click on the Escort 1600i, as I had a drive left in that car. But, I got a "car not present on server" message?? Too little time to delve into the why's on that front, so tried the Golf and that worked fine. I will need to take some time to explore that query before the next race.

Really enjoying this series and the mix of cars on the grid ( although a little disappointed at the small grid last night? ) The performance differences are something that I find huge fun and it always brings to mind watching the St Mary's Trophy at the Goodwood Revival. Watching a Ford GalaxIE growl away from a Mini Copoer S out of the corners, only to see that same Mini all over the GalaxIE's boot lid  in the next braking zone is hugely entertaining.

The only tweak that I would like to try is to give the smaller cars a slightly longer fuel range vs the faster cars which would have their range shortened to force an extra stop. This could make the final laps a little less processional, if the tiddlers are ahead on track with the big bangers closing them down?

Well that's amazing Clive, I have been a regular at the Revival for several years & it seems I have always managed to miss those Ford MPVs racing against the Minis! Roll Eyes. I have though seen some Ford Galaxies racing & being hassled by Minis. Grin

Apologies for being pedantic Clive. Cheesy

Lol, yes, normally by Nick Swift.....a customer of mine that I was on the phone with a few weeks ago and he offered me a passenger ride in one of his racing Minis, although not at the Revival of course.....Must make that happen at some point!  eek
