Will try to make the race but my internet is not holding very well, has been this way for at least a week.  We are in the middle of a thaw here and a lot of waterways are flooding and ice jammed up.  Cable company says some of their junction boxes are taking water.  Speed test are good right now, see what happens.  Will start in the back in case. If you see me lagging, tell me and I will retire!!!

My rear left was completely worn out at lap4. The car then became undrivable, just like last time.
The tyre wear is just insane. Didn't bother to wait for race 2, no point.

Point taken Matt. I've changed tyre wear to Normal for all future races in this series. I guess it was particularly bad at this circuit because of all the corners.

I think that is true Tony.."the corners caused the tyre wear".
So,      as my skill is most evident on the straights where I rarely make mistakes, perhaps we could have a circuit without corners? lol

Seriously though, I did find the tyre wear a little heavy and I ended Race 1 with about 1 pixel of red showing on all 4 corners. In fact the very last lap became very interesting as the steel rims do not offer a lot of grip  Roll Eyeswacko Like Matt I was very surprised that the rear tyres disintegrated almost quicker than the fronts!!?? but at least we all had the same issues.

Having said all that I am not convinced that returning the tyre wear to "normal" will make a great deal of difference, because in qualifying on race fuel ( and obviously pushing quite hard) I managed to use 50% of the available rubber in just over 3 laps!!! OK, so they were banzai laps with nothing held back, but 50% in 3 laps is not going to look good after 12 laps?? Maybe others with more experience can offer a view on this??

Result_Race 1

 Cool

Good decision to change tyre wear to "normal". After lap 7 my laptimes dropped by 15 to 30 seconds.

Tony knows me well by now, as he rightly guessed I would like this track  Smiley

Tyre wear is extreme; I've never run a car with so much wear before in GTL, but I do find it surprisingly manageable on those worn tyres. Yesterday, I only had real problems with the left rear on the last 3 laps or so in each race - laptimes increasing with a few secs as the race progresses of course.  It finally got me in the final turn of race 2, but fortunately I had enough gap to get going again and keep the win.

Race 1: Race or demolition derby ?  T2 on L1 especially could make you wonder.  Was gaining on Roger in the 2nd half, but too little too late, so had to settle for 3rd.

At least that kept me in the qual for race 2. With Geoffers neutered, pole was up for graps among the mortals and Clive ran away with it.  Massive jump start from him seemed to throw him off a little though, so I could steal the lead when the start actually went.  Puzzled when he kept chasing me over the first laps, instead of going to serve the S/G I was sure he would have been issued.  No way of communicating it unfortunately, and I assume he got DQ'ed when he left  Sad
Wondered when Geoffers would punch through the field and close the gap. Mid race I had a gap of some 5-6 secs, losing 1+ sec each lap, so math wasn't in my favor.  That changed though, when Geoffers left.  Wonder what happened; replay shows his car seemingly dying for no apparent reason, so hope he will shed some light on the reason.  Lonely remainder of the race, trying to strike a balance between going fast enough without screwing up.

Grats to Geoffers on his win, and to Roger & Fulvio on their podiums.  Commiserations to the misfortuned.

Well having worked through to 2nd I just lost the rear going into the top chicane, braked to try to save it & stopped the motor. No restart on these so it was race over. Not sure I would have caught you though, had worked the tyres quite hard getting through to 2nd & was definitely going to have trouble over the last few laps. First race I was able to nurse the tyres a bit after the T2 shenanigans, but still had trouble the last 3 laps keeping the rear in check, had one quick spin on the last lap but was well ahead by then so it wasn't critical.

Congrats to Erling on the win & all the other podium guys.  clap clap clap

After race 1 at Le Mans, I put my brake bias much more to the front, was 56/44, now on 66/34, & it was much better on the rear tyres, but the wear is still pretty horrendous.

The incident's at L1, T2 are thankfully rare in UKGTL racing and, I hope, will not be repeated.

Those who played their part know who they are. I will not seek incident moderation at this time as I believe they were an isolated occurrence, and will not happen again.

However if any driver wishes to lodge a complaint they are free to do so.

For my own part, I apologise to Erling for the collision later in the first race that resulted in us both leaving the track. Happy to see that Erling's progress wasn't hampered too much by my clumsy driving.

For the majority of both events there was some great racing going on and I hope fun was had. This is after all why we do this silly thing called simracing  Roll Eyes  thumbup1

No problem Tony; was annoyed at the time, but mostly over earlier events - and I probably wouldn't have won race 2, if I hadn't qualified, so maybe a good thing I lost a little time..  Wink

I apologize again to rear end you at T2 L1, it wasn't an excess of pressing, but simply a slide of my foot on the brake pedal  Embarrassed
At the time when I saw almost all the field collected I felt very bad and waited for almost all to restart, but later I watched replay and I found that I wasn't the only one at fault  Grin
Anyway I was surprised to be confortable with these cars without any practice before and gain two good results. Unluckily I had the chance to race on Wednesday only cause Coronavirus had stopped my practice choir in Italy for safety reason. We'll see how it goes…cough cough  nuke
