Demanding race for me. First half was mainly a hard battle with Tony. Found myself held up through the twisty bits by of all cars the Alfa GTV. Did not expect that, and twice Tony exploited it to get past, which was rather annoying. He had obviously done his homework in the Corolla, or maybe I hadn't done mine. He appeared to be faster on both the straights and in the corners, which had me scratching my head - if he had tinkered with the aerodynamics (forgot to check if it's possible with this car), then I would have expected one of the two, but not both. May also be that there's simply something fundamental eluding me with these cars - Clive's qual lap in the SDI was

Late in the first stint, Tony & I were side by side approaching the chicane. I tried to make sure there was enough room for him, but as a result went too far over the curbs, lost control and spun out, dropping to 9th. Single pit stop soon after, for fuel only. Quickly found myself in a lonely 4th after the stop. Had a 6-8 secs gap to the car in 5th and took a very concentrated drive to keep it till the end, on increasingly worn tyres.
Grats to the unbeatable Bulgarian team & Fulvio on the podium, and hats off to Dimitar for the video and commentary!
Bit nostalgic for me with the Corolla GT. Back in 1989, the Corolla GT Coupe came very close to being my first car. Had found a very nice black example, but regrettably a lady had dibs on it and ended up buying it. Instead I got a nice red fwd Corolla GT hatchback. That 16V Twin Cam engine was a gem, and with adjustable Koni shocks and fat Yokohama tyres, it was almost impossible to unstick in the dry
