Cars allowed: Renault 5 GT Turbo Download this

RACE ONE

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (10 mins)
Race: 20:30 (20 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Wednesday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

Wow! Such a great two races once again.

For qualy 1 Geoffers was just faster taking the pole position. At the start i thought that he is behind me and i was close to blocking him because he was just left of me. Fortunately i was able to see him in time and there was no problems there. I was very close to make a false start. The clutch slip away from my finger and the car started just few thousands after the green lights. I was lucky and took the lead. But Geoff was just too fast and shortly overtake me.

After that i tried to stay in front of Erling and Daz as they were fighting for P3. Unfortunately for me they were able to catch me and with more power on the straights to overtake me. Here we started great battle with Daz as Coyote pulled away fast from us. At the end Daz was just smarter and took home the podium.

Congrats to Geoff, Coyote and Daz.

For race 2 i knew i must risk everything to stand a chance to fight with Geoffers. He was going to start from the back of the grid, so maybe half a second more could have given me the chance to fight with him before he eventually catch me. I knew the tires may not take it to the finish, but i didn't knew if the game can simulate tire punctures.

At the Q i was slower this time but was able to take the pole position.

The start was OK and i was still in P1 but very close behind me was Daz and Coyote made a great start as well.

I was making just a little bit of progress leading the race until 13-14 lap when the tires were totally terrible now. I had few moments close to lose the car because of too much sliding on the back. Daz had the same issues but was able to stay away from big trouble. After one big mistake and almost a slip the gap was now under 1 second and we started another great battle. It was so much fun as we gave everything there, we took so many risks and both were so close losing the car several times but somehow able to stay away from trouble. Here somewhere i made a terrible move attacking him on turn 1, braking way too late and bumping him. Fortunately we lost just few seconds and continue to battle.

At the final lap i knew if i want to retake the first position i lost few laps before i must try not to slide the car and carry as much as possible speed at the final 2 right corners and after that with my bigger straight speed and some slip stream to attack the win.

And this happen - i had brilliant exit from the first right corner and not so good apex on the last corner as the car slip a lot. But i was so close to Daz now, maybe half a second. I was quickly catching him as my heart started beating faster and faster. I knew it was going to be very close now... I started catching him after we made it into the final corner, Daz tried everything to prevent me from taking his slip stream but i had some great pace now... AND at the final stages or second of the race somehow i was able to take the victory away from his hands with just 3 hundreds of the second! Cheesy

Again - Wow! Such a great two races, and this great battles with Daz - amazing.

Congrats to Daz and Erling for the podiums in Race 2.

A couple of very different races for me at Dijon.

Race 1, DD jumped into the lead at the start & led for a couple of laps, it was clear however that he was running more rear wing than me as my car was much faster on the straight. Starting lap 3, I was easily able to pass him on the straight & pull away into a comfortable lead. When the rear started to get a bit playful towards the end I had the luxury of being able to take it steady through the twisty bits, although I very nearly came to grief at T1 on the final lap, just saving quite a big slide.

Race 2 was totally different. Joined the grid & watched the 30s countdown run through & then waited for the 3-2-1-Go, & waited & waited......  Suddenly everyone had gone leaving Fulvio & me sat there. So set off to see if I could catch up leaving Fulvio there, apparently he had the same freeze as me but stalled the engine. Eventually caught up with Tony only to barge into him at T1, so waited for him to sort the ensuing slide. Caught & passed him again, but then had another game freeze for 2-3s which hindered Tony & I think, Fulvio, sorry guys.
Been getting momentary freezes in GTL for a few weeks now but it normally only happens soon after I have started playing & then is OK after that. Don't have a problem in RRE & AC, weird Huh.
Anyway caught & passed Tony once again & lucked into 5th place when Fulvio went exploring near the end.

Congrats to DD on his win & to Erling & Daz on their podiums.  clap clap clap

Two rewarding races last night, with better results than I could resonably expect.

Got a good start in race 1, nicking places from Fulvio & Daz. Tried very hard not to run wide through T1, with Daz on the outside, but some unintentional door rubbing still sent him sliding.  Fortunately, he kept it together - great driving Daz  Smiley    First half of the race was a hard battle with Daz for 3rd.  He appeared much faster in places, but lost time on the straight & in the final corner.  As the race progressed, I got closer to DD, eventually getting enough tow to slip past.  To my surprise, I kept extending the gap back to DD & Daz, but maybe their duelling slowed both down.  Geoffers of course impossible to catch - grats on the win & Daz for 3rd.

Gained a fair few places at the start of race 2, helped by both Fulvio & Geoffers not moving.  Got to 4th and chased after Dan, initially not making much impact - in fact, he was pulling away.  Fully expected Geoffers to come charging through the field, so puzzled when the gap behind me continued to grow.  Eventually started to catch Dan, once his tyres got worse, and after he had an offroad excursion, we were side by side down the straight.  Dan blinked first, and I shot ahead into T1.  DD & Daz were some 8-9 secs further up the road, with no hope of catching them, so had to settle for 3rd.  Grats to DD on the narrowest of wins, and to Daz for 2nd.

Big grats also to Geoffers for winning the series in convincing fashion  clap I Am Not Worthy
