Ok, I get the message, I will upload mine later, but only to be viewed by those that are struggling, not those who couldn't negotiate the first corner.
Those who couldn't negotiate the first corner obviously WERE struggling...
Looked in the forum yesterday, scratching my head over Geoffers & Tony discussing download of cars - "Hey, we're using the standard ones, right?". That was my first blunder; not reading the race setup thoroughly enough - had practiced with the standard GTL big block Cobra
Just had about 45 minutes to download the right one, practice and cobble together a setup.
Race 1:Chuffed of course to be 2nd on grid, and not a little surprised - historically I've been quite useless in Cobras. Great start (thanks again Geoffers), but my screwups have apparently moved from the start itself, to the first corner instead. Slid off and had to let the entire field pass..
Quickly regained places, some from other cars going off. Made it as far as 3rd, behind Matt, and then the party ended. Had nothing on him under power, and couldn't exploit my advantages under braking & cornering, as he stuck to the racing line. Tried outside moves, inside moves, but nothing worked (apologies for the paint exchange..
). Finally the slightest of wobble from Matt in the final corner, and I got alongside him. Mad drag race down the start/finish. Whoever blinked first would lose out. Thankfully it was Matt, who had to brake a fraction earlier. By then, Geoffers was long gone, so main concern was to stay ahead of Matt and not screw up over the final laps.
Race 2:Great start again - and a complete repeat at the first corner - apart from bashing the barrier this time
Rejoined not quite last, but then went off again in the following corner, and then I was last again.. Worked my way up to 4th - thanks to Tony for waving me past, and then it got quite lonely. Gap to 3rd remained around 8-9 secs for many laps, but then started dropping. Couldn't believe it when it seemed like it was Matt I was catching (not again!) Thought he would have the advantage, now that we had swapped cars. However, before I could get any closer, Clive heroically threw himself into the fray. We were in the same car, but with his usual flamboyant style, his tyres were probably worse than my less than pristine ones. An unconventional move and I was past (read 75% out of control, sliding through T1, picking up at least one cut warning
) Couldn't catch Matt though, before the race ended.
Grats to Geoffers on a commanding performance, and to Matt for his podiums!!
Dilemma for me whether to continue or not, as two series a week is really too much. If I can do this one with a minimum of practice (3-4 hours per car Clive
), then I might try to fit it in.
With regards to setups, I doubt anyone would find mine better than their own.
