Moderator's Report

Assassino twice used his headlights when behind drivers he was racing for position (320 and 454s), this was a daylight race and he was not lapping the car in front. Use of lights in this manner is unnecessary and contrary to race rules.

  • ASSASSINO ([GS]ASSASSINO)warning — Unnecessary use of headlights

There were some comments made using in-game chat before the race had ended, and then some foul language used after the end of the race.

Drivers are reminded that only pit in/out messages are permitted whilst qualifying and racing are underway, any other use of chat is forbidden, and that inflamatory or offensive chat messages are unacceptable within SimRacing.org.uk.

Aagramn runs wide at Schwantz Curve, has no control over the car as it rejoins the circuit and heaviliy impacts Baz West forcicing Baz Off. Aagramn has apologised for the incident and retired from the race. In my opinion, Aagramn was not trying to make a pass and had little or no control over the car once it had left the track. The resulting impact was unavoidable.

JohnnyDee jumps the rolling start procedure catching the rear of Assassinos car in the process. Assassino has requested no penalty be given. 2 place penalty mitigated to a warning.

Bill Thomas swerves to avoid the disco'd car of Dan Minton, his car leaves the track and impacts the barrier. The damage is sufficeint to force Bill to retire. Locutos had a the same problem seconds earlier but was mor fortunate and managed to limp home.

Dan has apologised but he was disconnected from game.

No blame apportioned - technical fault

Assassino, Shark and Madd-RIP enter Redgate in the order stated. Assassino has the inside line with Shark on his left rear bumper. Assassino appears to move ahead when Shark kisses his rear bumper sending him into a spin. The replay clearly shows Assassino moving ahead through the corner and with Shark already off the throttle he would logically not have expected to close on Assassino. There is no contact noise and Shark was unaware they had touched. Madd touches Sharks right rear almost at the same time sending Shark wide, Madd slows to allow Shark to re-pass.

I'm very surprised to see that the Alfa gets alot more points. I picked the Falcon because it's a more difficult car to drive, but fun none the less. The Alfa is much quicker in 80% of the tracks.

I tried both early today and was able to go about 1s a lap faster in the Falcon, despite awful understeer, than in the Alfa. You're right about the Falcon being harder to drive though,

The Elite clearly has too high a rating too.

Again this was a great race.

I was surprised in the qualifying by the Falcons being so fast on this track. I had Donington National in mind as Alfa track, and didn't even try the Falcon.

Starting 3rd after Ruskus and Pero in their Falcons, I estimated that at the beginning of the race I would have no chance to overtake, since the Falcons are just too fast on the straights, but I knew their tyres would wear much faster than mine in the Alfa. So my plan was keeping close to them, and see if I get a chance later in the race.

When the race was started, Ruskus and Pero were fighting hard right from the beginning, and I thought it would may slow them down or give me a chance to slip through, but both could keep up their fast pace very well, and no chance came up for me. Until lap 20 or so, I lost about 6 seconds to them, due to smaller mistakes like forgetting to enable autoclutch before downshifting (apart from one or two smaller mistakes, disabling autoclutch while upshifting and enabling it while downshifting, works rather nice for me  Smiley), and not passing overlapped cars so well. Indeed I was a bit surprised by Osiris' breaking so early when I tried to overlap him and bumped into his back, but nothing was damaged on my car and also he didn't seem to have any problems. It was also my fault, I could have been more careful and patient overlapping.

Near the end of the race, Ruskus and Pero got slower like I expected, and I could close the 6 seconds gap within a few laps. I could overtake Pero rather easily. He made a counterattack on the s/f straight, but his tyres were already so bad, that he had to let me go in the next corner. After that I was closing in on Ruskus, and in the very lasp lap I even had to brake in the turn before the long straight to not run into him. Thanks to the Falcon's power he could pull away until the chicane, but I could take this one much faster and was even side by side with him for a moment, but the superior acceleration of the Falcon's engine made Ruskus get to the finishing line quicker, and he drove home his win safely. That was a very exciting finish !

I agree that the Falcons are more difficult to drive, and drivers shouldn't get punished for not taking an easy to drive Alfa, which is the fastest car on most tracks anyways. In this race it was a hell of a job driving the Falcon without bigger mistakes. Well deserved win for Ruskus and also worth full points, imho.

Yeah well done on the new skins guys. Looking good.  Afro

I think the Falcon is faster than the Alfa so should be scored higher but probably not as big a difference as there is. Certainly I think the Mustang needs to be lower score too. Alternatively you could bump the Alfa up a few notches and the Lotus Cortina a little too.

Likewise, very well raced Greg. Lots of bumper-to-bumper action, yet we were never in any danger of trading paint.

Questions questions questions:

How does the Falcon (rated 5.5) compare for pace with the 300SL (rated 6.Cool?

How does the Elite (rated 3.Cool compared to the Mini (rated 3.2) and the Cortina (rated 3.5)?

IMHO only...

Elite should be lower than a Cortina (down to no higher than 3.0, it really is that slow).

Hmm, well, as a start I've reduced the Elite to 3.0, the Falcon to 5.0, and the Mustang to 4.7. The GTA has been bumped up to 3.8 at the Cortina to 3.6.
