Race: 21:15 (14 laps)

Track: Meadowdale Download this

Car restrictions: Drivers must swop makes between races.

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Mondays
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

Grats to the podiums and all finishers.

Apologies to Matt for a gossamer light touch of his rear in race 1, lap 1, that took us both to the back of the field  Roll Eyes relieved to see that it gave him a clear run to a podium place  Wink
My race with Dan descended into an ill advised drifting demonstration with the Cobra, which did not help my tyres or my laptimes  Undecided It all ended rather predictably with a rather heavy Cobra balanced on its roll bar and my helmet  Undecided
I was then able to watch Geoffers test the structural integrity of those half tyres and deduced that they are rather sturdy, or at least more sturdy than his Corvette was  Roll Eyes

Race 2 and my turn to keep my Corvette away from the polo mints planted around the track.
Matt's Cobra kindly fondled my rear a few times during the early laps and I assume it was to reciprocate the attention that I gave him in race 1? Wink
Luckily for me the only down side was that it slowed me down slightly and allowed Geoffers and Erling to pull a gap of a couple of seconds. Once I got the Corvette wound up on the straight I was able to escape Matt's attentions and began to ease back up towards the leaders, but it was putting excess stress on my tyres.
Then Geoffers did a dramatic left turn at the end of the main straight when he should have been braking for T1, and was last seen passing Mars!!! His sudden departure appeared to momentarily unbalance Erling as he entered T1 and for a moment I wondered if he might follow Geoffers into the wide blue yonder?? But, he gathered himself together and try as I might I could not bridge the 2 second gap so that I could offer any serious threat to his P1.
After a few laps it was becoming clear that if I continued to push hard, race 2 would end much like race 1 Undecided. So I opted for a safe drive to the flag and a rather undeserved 2nd place.
I still enjoy the insane torque of these monsters and the differences between the Cobra and Corvette.  Grin

Not one of my better nights racing! Roll Eyes

Got on the server early with the Corvette as I had been a bit busy during the day & had only time for a few laps testing in the Cobra. Stuck with the Vette for race 1. Led at the start & once I got settled opened at little gap to Erling, didn't last though. Got a bit out of shape through T3 & by the time I had collected it I was too deep into T4 & went off. Erling swept past as I recovered & I set off after him. Just about caught up when T3 got me again, turned in a bit too early & hit one of those solid tyres & killed the car.

Race 2 was even worse. Led again at the start but this time T1 got me, probably braked a little too hard over the rise & the car turned left into the trees. Got it back on track but gave it too much welly on dirty tyres & slammed into the barrier, car dead again.

Congrats to Erling on two excellent victories.  clap clap

Two unexpected wins on a beautiful track, with the surrounding mountains. Quite challenging though - forcing the Vette through the twisty section should keep a masochist happy for hours..  Tongue

Good start in Race 1, but not good enough to jump Geoffers. Kept him company for the first 3 laps, but then he took off like a scalded cat, virtually vanishing in a single lap.  With the chasing pack dropping back, I resigned myself to a lonely race, but then a dust cloud up ahead announced Geoffers had gone off.  Slipped past, but knew I wouldn't last long in front, so tried to make the most of it.  After a couple of laps, Geoffers had closed the gap, but then accidently killed the car.  Rest of the race mainly a case of maintaining decent pace without 'doing a Geoffers..'.

Race 2; bogged down too much at the start, but at least retained 2nd. Geoffers seemed hesitant for the first couple of laps and I really wanted him to get crackin', as I had the Evil One looming in my mirrors!  Around lap 3, Geoffers started to stretch his legs, but then went off, presumably for Mars..   About 2-sec gap back to Clive for many laps.  Had to ruthlessly exploit my advantage in the twisty section, as he was clawing back territory as soon as he was on power.  Gap grew a little around mid-race, and then Clive disappeared from view, with gap now 7.5 secs. It continued to grow, even though I eased off a little, rather than risk everything, so I guessed his tyres were going off.

Grats to Clive, Roger & Matt on their podiums!
