Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 216s

As Don enters turn 1 for the first time he is rear-ended by BigG, who seems to get caught out by the slower pace at the race start. With cold tyres and brakes it is important that drivers are extra cautious, and even though Don was slower than usual this was to be expected.
Because this is a first lap rear-ender the penalty is increased to 3 places, however in this case Don requests that no penalty be given, so I'm treating the incident as 'unreported' which means that no places are lost.

  • BigG ([RSms]BigG)penalty — first lap rear-ender — 3 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 282s

Jamera is closely following Gerald down the back straight and brakes slightly late as they approach the second chicane. Jamera locks up the unloaded front and slides into the back of Gerald's car sending him off.
Gerald has also requested that no penaly be issued.

  • Jamerapenalty — rear-end shunt — 2 places lost (plus 1 for penalty points)
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 624s

Whitham69 is following Gerald as they approach the tripple left hander. Gerald loses some speed on entry and Whitham tries to overtake on the second apex, which inevitibly results in contact with Gerald being punted off.
Whitham tried to get out of it by turning tighter but understeered into the side of Gerald's car.
Whitham then does the gentlemany thing and waits quite a while for Gerald to catch up and lets him back past to regain his position. Penalty reduced to one place.

  • whitham69penalty — over-ambitious overtake — 1 place lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 995s

Edza drifts wide at the triple left hander, gets onto the grass and as he drives towards the track to rejoin he cannot slow the car before coming to rest on the apex of turn 5. Picnic is just arriving and rounds the bend only to find the nose of Edza's car planted on the apex. This is a blind corner and Picnic could not have seen Edza's car.
Edza was caught out by the spoon shaped bend where the track turns at 180 degrees and this exaggerates the incident slightly.

  • Edza (edza)caution — rejoin at a more gradual angle

Server replay time: 2332s

Don is having a battle with Picnic and is chasing him down when the lapping cars of Truetom and Shark catch up with them. Truetom is patient and waits for Don to pull over but after 2 laps he is still behind.
At one point Don seemed to pull away slightly and again later Truetom was delayed by a rejoining Jamera. However there were several opportunites to let the cars pass but it is not until Don eventually drifts wide that Truetom goes through.
Don was obviously focused on the car in front but I believe that there were chances to let the lapping cars past. In fact if Don had let all the cars through at time 2226s he would probably have fared better and been able to use the lapping cars to his advantage when they caught Picnic.

  • Don (Don1)warning — holding up a lapping driver

Server replay time: 2523s

Truetom is defending 2nd place from Mark@[GP] and he runs wide as he approaches the final turn. Truetom gets a wheel on the grass and gets a bit sideways, rejoining the track at an angle right in front of Mark who has to brake hard to avoid contact.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 2533s

As they exit the final corner of the race Mark@[GP] gets a run on Truetom and challenges for 2nd place.
Truetom moves to the right and Mark goes left to try and outrun Truetom to the finish line. After Mark moves left Truetom then moves back across the track in front of him and Mark has to brake again to avoid contact.
Truetom should have chosen a definite line after exiting the final bend and this is clearly what Mark expects. At this point it was too late for Truetom to defend the position as Mark's move had alreay begun, and Mark's progress is definitely blocked by Truetom's actions.
Truetom does nothing outrageous and was not weaving but it is possible that Mark would have claimed second place and I am giving a one place penalty to reflect this, although it will not affect the race standings because Mark did not send in an incident report.

  • Truetom (truetom)penalty — blocking — 1 place lost (plus 1 for penalty points)
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 2539s

On the last lap Flybri splutters out of fuel as he exits the final corner. He keeps to the left to stay off off the racing line, hoping to make the last few meters to the finish.
Directly behind is Jamera, who is about to be lapped, and he also keeps left to allow the lapping cars of Pedro, JonM and Shark to pass.
Pedro is blindsided by Jamera's car and goes for the pass. He had no way to see Flybri stopping and even Jamera doesn't see it until the last moment as he was probably busy checking his mirrors.
Jamera swerves right in avoidance and contacts Pedro who has left very little room as he passes.
Pedro goes off and Jamera is bounced into the rear of Flybri's car, spinning him round into the path of the oncoming Shark who cant avoid him and he also goes off.
This incident was caused by several factors but ultimately the whole incident could have been avoided if Pedro had given more space while lapping Jamera.

  • Pedro[PL]warning — leave more room when alongside another car

Just hope your rig can deliver some FPS with this resolution!

AMD 4000+, ATI 1800XT, 2GB RAM and SB Xi-Fi Music.

It ran GTR at 1680x1050 even with the field of 24 cars last night without a hitch at all an no need for me to drop my graphics settings. 4xAA and 8xAF in the driver settings too.

Turning the rear view mirror helped a bit, but it is quite a necessary thing while racing - true Jamera?

Last corner, right before the end of the race was a bit diseaster. Lapped Jamera didn't notice me overtaking him (4 corners in a row... hope this was not a revenge for Anderstorp) and on a s-f line hit my causing spin.

I'm sure Jam can stick up for himself, but I don't like/want to read stuff like this about anyone. I would find it hurtful and its all very unnecessary.

Surely - but please notice I am not mad with Jamera. I will not report the incident as I have joined the season just last race and points are not really important to me this time. Let's see if the rest of the drivers who suffered will be that kind. So - Ginsters, if you feel offended - please rethink. Nevertheless a blue flag is a blue flag.

Btw. Jamera - my words were meant to be funny. I guess joking in a foreign language is not that easy after all and I should have used a Cheesy sign after the "mirror" part. Better luck next time m8.

ALL incidents should be reported.

It doesn't matter whether points matter or not, it's about trying to improve driving standards, not finger pointing or nae-saying. We're all adults here and we should be able to learn how to improve both our driving standards on the track and how we treat each other off the track.

It is always important to never accuse anyone of anything. The replay and circumstances can paint a completely different picture to what it looked like from any given cockpit.

In this particular incident I urge you to look at the replay of this incident as you will change your mind pretty quickly about what happened.

Mo is the series moderator.

For general info, Dave has listed each series moderator on the league pages for that series.

In addition on each of the race results pages there is a "Submit an incident report" link conviently placed at the bottom of the page. This will take you to a nice incident reporting form for that particular race and you can select who was involved, the time etc etc.

So if you go to the results for this race for instance...
https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?ind=lm2&event=131
There is a "Submit an incident report" link at the bottom you can click on.

It's a help to the moderators to use this way of reporting incidents as it formalises it better for them to deal with.

Gizmo posted about this here...

I must agree with you. My idea of not reporting was wrong. What I wrote before about driving and blue flags was written in a good faith - I didn't want to finger point anyone, just to remind that using a rear view mirror and obeying blue flag is a must when racing.

I have submitted the incident report and hope this will help us all improve for future races.

ViewSonic 20.1" VX2025wm. 1680x1050 resolution.

The 19" are only  Smiley 1400x900 (approx).

The quality of this ViewSonic is great compared to my old Acer, so it's worth buying a slightly better manufacturers panel imho.
