Race: 20:30 (14 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops required: No

Server: simracing.org.uk Wednesdays
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

Not the best night's racing that I have had in GTL  Undecided
It might have had the decency to have lasted long enough for me to decide if it was fun.

Race 1
DQ off start line for doing Christmas Donuts in the pitlane

Race 2
I thought I was doing exactly what Dan asked for when I gave him a gentle nudge at T2   angel Then I totally missed my braking point at the end of the straigh ( too busy watching my mirrors for Tony  Undecided ) and stuffed the car into the hay bales.

Hope that you all have a peaceful Christmas  Wink

In my extensive list of apologies I forgot to include Dimitar who must have suffered most from the chain reaction my nudge on Ziu provoked . His spin send him back quite a few places and in his efforts to make things up again I think a bit of red mist entered his mind and a series of unintended mistakes ruined his race completely. From P one to P last by a unfortunate nudge in T1. Unforgivable, will I ever learn and will you guys ever learn to put some decent speed in your starts?(lol) Anyway enough sorries I Am Not Worthy for this year and an extra Merry Christmas for Dimitar.

See you all at Spa.

Cheers, Dan

This was an evening where nothing went right  Undecided

I had two Porsche drives and one Lotus drive left for this.  Being just 2 points behind the leading Geoffers in the 2.0 class, the plan was to score at least 3 points, to claim the title win - he was out of Porsche drives and couldn't score more points in this class.  That included not losing too many points to Roger & Matt, who were both 7 points behind me.  I would use the Porsche in the first race and then switch to the Lotus for race two, if all went well.  If not, I had a 2nd chance with the Porsche in race 2.  The possibility that Paddler would return and do two races in the Porsche, to claim the title had not even crossed my mind..

Race 1 - exceptionally difficult:
Found the Porsche tricky to drive - to prevent it spinning under braking, I had to use a not very easy alien technique, graciously tought me by our old firend Ziu.  As if this wasn't enough, in the pause from qual to race start, my steering wheel was oscillating left & right. Suspect it was related to exiting back to the pits while the 'cobblestone effect' was active, but not sure of this.  When I joined the grid, my force feedback reversed!!  I had no resistance in the wheel anymore - instead it turned by itself, if I moved it away from the center position, and I had to hold it back. Trying to adapt to this in a tricky car, in the midst of the close racing after the start was NOT easy!!  Shocked

Almost quit, but decided to persevere, to see if I could get some points after all.  Was in 4th early on when I spun under braking, despite my best efforts.  Lost 3 places, but gradually made them up, as others suffered various mishaps. Passed a recovering Micha early on, to have him chase me for the rest of the race.  Would have expected him to catch me, especially with my difficult situation, so maybe he damaged his car, as I managed to stay ahead and finish 3rd.

Race 2:
Believing - erroneously - that I had scored enough points in race 1 to claim the class Championship, I now went for the Elan.  It was both easier & faster for me, and I wanted to increase my class points if possible.  Race itself was a short affair however. With all the aliens present, I was far down the field at the start.  At the end of L2, I was having a good battle with Fulvio when I entered the start/finish straight.  Couldn't avoid a crashed Geoffers and hit him at full speed. Killed my car and possibly his too, if it wasn't already dead after the first shunt.

Grats to the race winners & podiums, and to the Championship winners & runners up  clap clap

A Merry Christmas to you all !!

Once again apologies for ruining race 2 for you Erling. I did not know who hit me but at least two cars did before I could hit Esc.

Congrats to Hristo on the overall championship win & to the class winners & podiums.  clap clap clap

Finally a huge thanks to Tony for organising all of this year's series, it's been great fun.  I Am Not Worthy I Am Not Worthy thumbup1

No worries Dan! This things happen and i know what the feeling is to nudge someone  Cry laugh

The first race was full of terrible mistakes i made. Yes i was hit in T1 but there is no excuses for what i did after that. Totally forgot that the tires are cold and went flat out for turn 3 and hit the barriers with more than 150 km/h. After that i tried to go to the pit, but miss my mechanics which were first on the pit  Grin After that the car was just too damaged and after one stop/go penalty i just decided to retire because i was a danger for the other drivers. Was able to catch Matt's scary hit on the last corner which made the video funnier (sorry Matt  Grin )

Race 2 was different though. I had my valuable lessons taken from Race 1 and after making new PB in qualy i was able to start from P1.

Geoff made fantastic start and took the lead but i was faster at turn 3 and had more power on the straights and overtake him. He made a semi slip after the hairpin and it was now me against Manfred the whole race. We had great pace as i was faster at the first part and he was faster at the second one.

At the end, after 2-3 small mistakes i was able to take the car home with a victory.

Congrats to Manfred for the win in Race 1, Fulvio and Coyote for podiums and to Manfred and Fulvio for the podiums in Race 2.

Big congrats to the champions and podium finishers in both Driver and Constructor championship.  sorcerer

Once again apologies for ruining race 2 for you Erling. I did not know who hit me but at least two cars did before I could hit Esc.

No worries Geoff - I'm quite certain you would have preferred to complete the race yourself, so obviously no ill intent  Smiley
