Welcome back Bernie!  We have your usual rooms prepared for you at the SBRC training camp.

Being lapped doesn't count unless you are still on the track and moving forward!   Roll Eyes   This is a step ahead of ran out of brakes and binned it on lap two!

Aintree, your local, is a tough one to start with but it is all the more rewarding when you can keep the brakes to the end of the race.  And if you do that you will have a good result under your belt.

Google says that this equates to:
"Hello everyone. Can i participate The problem is that I just started playing."

Long ago, when I moderated the entry division, I would arrange to meet such people on the practice server an evaluate their potential for wiping out the whole field at T1.  Never done it in Russian though.   Roll Eyes

I don't think that anyone has been refused to date but we need someone from the admin team to confirm.

Hi Alex

Welcome to UKGPL!  I'm the moderator for the 1955 GP championship so it's my job to make sure the races run smoothly so that everyone enjoys the racing. You are very welcome to join us but I would like to clarify a few things first.

As a beginner, we need to be sure your driving standards are OK for racing on-line. Ideally we would invite you to race in a few test races but we don't run many beginner test races these days, all the UKGPL drivers are very experienced. So you'd have to join in the main races, but the problem here is that we are near the end of the season with the championship finely poised and it would be very unfortunate if the title was decided because of an incident with a back-marker rather than by exceptional driving.

However I'm happy for you to join in, all I would ask is that if you can't keep up a reasonably consistent and quick enough pace, please retire from the race rather than continue to circulate and risk getting in the way of the quicker drivers. I suggest we set you a maximum qualifying time for the race (this is consistent with real life anyway). I think the 107% rule currently used in F1 is too tough (a lot of the current UKGPL drivers would struggle to qualify with that restriction) but something a bit easier to meet would be appropriate. I'll have a think and set you a qualifying time for the race, if you don't meet it I would ask you to withdraw before the race starts.

All this may be irrelevant and you may be the new Charles Leclerc and blow us all away. I'll set my server up for practice sessions for the rest of the week and let's see how you get on.

Sorry for the long reply, I hope I haven't dented your enthusiasm. I'll try to get on the server a few times before Sunday, hopefully I'll meet you on there.

Hi Alex,

I've looked for you on the server but not spotted you yet.

It is a good idea to test your on-line connection before race day.

What race lap times are you running at?

Hi Alex

If the pole position is similar to the previous races at Aintree, 107% of the pole time will be about 2m08s. So if we set you a qualifying time of 2m10s that should be fair. If you can't qualify in 2m10s or less please don't start the race.

Please test you connection by joining the server on IGOR. If you are having trouble connecting please post something here (or on the race thread), we will try to help.

Regards

Phil

Alex

It looks like you didn't try to join the server tonight, is that because you didn't think you'd meet the qualifying time or did you have other problems? What is you best lap time at Aintree?

Regards

Phil
