Out of interest do you use the yellowbird as a training tool for these f1 cars? Can see the relation with its handling skills required.

No, I literally haven't driven it in ages despite really liking it. I just wanted an excuse to go drifting on all these nice long hairpins Grin
On twisty technical stuff (Like Monaco) the Formula Easter cars are very good practice as they use the same lines as the 75's but are slow enough to let you actually think about what you're doing.. They could conceivably be useful here to learn where the bumps are, but are too slow for much else.

This track is all about technique - which it shouldn't be. All those long banked corners should be perfect for fighting on, but sadly there are some where running even halfway into the track will slow you so much that any passing attempt will be ruined.

Have a race with the AI though while you practice - they're really good here, I had a 6 lapper last night starting from the back.
The BT44 cleared the entire field by 14 seconds by the end of the race, I only managed 3rd in contrast. Normally the AI don't stand a chance!

I tried that too, starting with a run at Zolder for comparison. I even recorded a new ai line, because I didn't think much of the existing one. And anyway, I was able to keep up at least with the ai set as high as possible. But doing the same at Anderstorp they just vanished into the distance...

I am going to award myself this for my race-start debacle  Hit with a wet fish  i have been playing a lot of Dirt Rally2 recently (as its winter!) and had a complete brain-fart when the lights got to 5 red circles, my rally brain kicked in and i dropped the clutch to get an instant stop-go penalty  laugh but also it meant that when the lights went out i sat there a second or so dumb-founded and nearly got rear ended by the pack behind  Shocked Sad  Thankfully you all had the wits to blast around me.

That was a waste of a decent qually effort to bag 2nd on the grid  Roll Eyes

Had a decent dice early laps but my head was still in a mix over the start so didnt push that hard as knew i only had 2 laps to make a stop&Go which i duely took and rejoined bottom of the field by the full runway straight  Cry
I didnt have any magic pace here so it took a long time to catch and pass the field upto about 6th where i caught Jari and vva. They were having a great battle and though i got past Jari i then fell off at T2 whilst chasing vva hard. So Jari got back past and it took me another long time to re-close and pass him. Then i had a great chase with vva for a few laps and that was fantastic with the 3 of us chasing and hussling through the banked corners, really noisy grand-prix action!  The cars look and sound amazing in combat, something i've not had a whole lot of in the season so far as generally been a distant a 2nd or 3rd.
I finally got past vva with a 'last of the late brakers' move down the inside at T2. The move turned into a bit of a Verstappen block pass (ala Austria on LeClerc!)  as my front tyres got a slight lock up at the end that put my nose across the apex and prevented vva cutting back under me. It wasnt intentional and i apologise if it looked intentional, it was just me hanging on for dear life!  Tongue  He kind of gave up the fight after that which was a shame as i thought id have a battle royale to the flag. But good action with both guys   ninja

4th was damage limitation and glad i managed it. Well done to Tim, Max and Fabri on the podium, nice to see another car up front for qually and race  thumbup1

This looked like an action packed race again.
Unfortunately I could not get on the pace I found in the practice session and found myself more to the back as I wanted to. I noticed the guys in front had the rougly the same pace as I had during practice, so it should give some good racing.

And it did. Made a proper start and started to gain a few places, up to 4th after MJ went for his ride through. I was feeling confident that i could get on the pace from the cars in front of me and started pushing a bit more. Big mistake as I put a rear wheel on the grass and spun it. Took a while to get back in the mix as the general pace from all was pretty good. Had some nice battles along the race only to finish 7th I believe.
Great to see Maxim showing impressive pace and taking the win.

Next up, the dunes of Zandvoort. These cars should be really good around there. Bring it on.

And the replay of the first few laps.

Great to see Maxim showing impressive pace and taking the win.

But I didn't take it.  Grin

Still it was unexpected for me to get such a successful result (pole + lead for about 2/3 of the race).

Quali was strange here : It was my first few laps in soft tyres (didn't take the time to test them before as I don't count too much on the grid position usually). My best lap was my 1st flying lap. I knew that soft tyres would be very hot very quickly due to banking curves. 2nd try was a fail, 3rd lap was to cool them down, 4th and 5th were other attempts with no success and I then understood that they just had too much wear yet. So that I went back to pits to discuss Tim's alcoolism with my team.  Cheesy

Then we got champagne cups to celebrate this pole position.  Tongue

I saw nothing from the Mark false start but was quite happy not to be under pressure in the aerodrome straightline. First 1/3 of the race was quite peaceful here, as I was pretty sure tyres wear would be a problem in the end of the race, and above all because my heart was almost over-reving yet.

Then I saw what was a weird blue car in my mirrors. I thought "Damn, Kimi is flying above everyone !!" until I finally saw the name "Tim Muttram" and remembered he had spoken about a blue livery just before the start.. Oh ok, end of the laugh time then. I didn't want to really fight against him, he was coming like a bullet, and I had a nice result to hope in the race.
After about 2 laps after the join up, he passed me at turn 2 but was a bit too much overdriving on the grass at the turn exit, and the little fault became a spin. I had then a bit more time to accept the reality.

Later when he was back in my gearbox, we had another little battle but again, I had no decent hope to keep him behind.

By the way, Tim, could you please give us your postal address so that we can send a whiskey bottle to you on a weekly basis ?

I won't be able to get such a result for a long time now, so it's full enjoy time here. (I hate Silverstone, even don't know the track, don't know my national track Charade neither, then it's Green Hell, and I quite dislike all other tracks too..  Undecided)

On a side note, happy to see a compatriot driver coming, welcome Christian !

Mh.. Without me then. I bought one of their mod cars but was forced to ask for a refund (that he kindly did immediately) as its ffb was so wrong at my end. It was a car though, maybe the tracks are well worth the penny, yet I won't buy it for several reasons.

Edit : Watching the vid, I have to admit that the track look stunning.

it looks bloody awesome in that video  Shocked Cool  its cheap as chips really at £3.80

as only 11 racers turned up for Anderstorp it would be interesting to know who out of those intending to race at the next round would be willing to get the mod track  Undecided
