Nice race again. Pero once more managed to beat my quali time, when I already started to think that it might be safe. I tried to counter again, since I knew my PB was almost exactly his time, but couldn't make it, and so started 2nd. I was always fearing to throw the car away, especially in the evil chicane, so I went maybe a bit too carefully at the beginning and Pero could get a gap of 2-3 seconds. I then saw when I was pushing just a little bit more that I could hold the distance, so I was still hoping to close in on him again until the end, but somwhere after the middle of the race, when the big overlapping started, 2 lappers who were fighting hard with each other, didn't let me pass for a whole lap, and when I looked at the pitboard next time, the gap was already 8 seconds. After I saw that I couldn't close it anymore, I went a bit easier to safe the 2nd position, in the end being happy to bring the car home unscratched.

utterly pissed off at that race... I was treated so harshly by one particular car that was lapping me, that really got my goat! and further more... I got pushed off onto the grass on the straight when I was side by side with someone. Utterly hopeless race, and if that standard of driving is what this league is about... then to be honest, I can't be bothered with it!

That had to be a missunderstanding Shark - I was leading by enough to let you have your battle with Mooman without disturbing and that is why I wanted to stay behind you in the parabolica. I didnt quite understand why you went so wide till I saw your post - kinda feel a bit guilty about that.
No, no problem Pero. I thought your Falcon would blast past me down the straight and when it didn't I thought I'd better let you through on the bend as I didn't want to hold you up. To be honest although Mooman, myself and JohnnyDee were really close we were never going to be able to overtake Mooman. We were slightly faster in the Alfas but there is no way you can overtake a Falcon of relatively same speed unless the driver makes a BIIIIG mistake. It wasn't so much of a battle as we had no choice but to follow. A few times we got side by side out of corners but once you're onto the straights you're completely doomed and then nowhere near in the braking to have a chance in hell.

I was actually hoping we could both slip enough ahead and be side-by-side up the straight, casually leaving just not enough room for him to muscle past. We'd only need to do that one time, muhaha!! I still have sweaty memories of that Mustang in front of me, lol! -=> J <=-

I'm a bit disappointed sometimes in the reaction that drivers have to race results. I wonder sometimes if the comments here are posted directly after the heat of the race and therefore not a true reasoned reflection of their feelings.
A long time ago I read an article by a driver in GPL who wrote about unrealistic expectations. His point was that you can only drive to the best of YOUR ability. There can only be one winner and, by extension only, one last place.
His whole point about racing online has always stuck with me. As in real life racing, online, you are racing other humans( and not AI) and the humans can always cock up so keep going to the end.
In my own particular case I will never, except under extraordinary circumstances, win an online race. But that doesn't stop me from racing. I take a great deal of pleasure from beating a personal best or helping my team to a better finish and gaining points.
I have seen in a number of series I have raced in drivers packing in half way thro a race because they have no chance of winning or claiming they are bored. How then will they ever win.? In real life I've never seen the perrenial backmarkers from Midland F1, Super Aguri and, most notably, Minardi bale out because they can't win.
Sometimes you have to admit to someone being better at this racing game than you are and accept it as best you can.
I like the UKGTL racing experience and believe the guys here are as good and fair at online racing as anyone. I dont like to posts thrashing drivers because of some real or imagined slight. After all we are all human and, heaven help us, we do make mistakes.
I wish I could find that article because it expresses it better than I ever will.
Thanks for listening

Erm, I'll take that as a complement I think.

Erm, I'll take that as a complement I think. Yes indeed!! The big error I was hoping for never materialized. Even though I couldn't pass, it was great coming out onto the straight only milimeters from your bumper and getting that power tow down the line. Very tricky. -=> J <=-

It not such a difficult car to drive as long as break early enough. There's not really enough power to bite you like the pantera can. Just enough to get it a bit sideways and throttle steer round if you need it.

Although I agree with your sentiment on never giving up, something I live by when racing online, if you are not enjoying something you simply are not enjoying it. As this is about enjoyment and entertainment there is no point in carry on if you are not enjoying it.
