Moderator's Report

Some members were seen to be chatting at the end of the race while other drivers were still racing to the finish. Due to the difficulty of knowing who exactly was chatting I can only remind all members that no one is to chat until the last car crosses the line. And while we are on the subject of chatting during/after a race, members are not to discuss incidents in open forums or in chat after the race. Incidents are to be reported to a moderator who will deal with the matter. This is the second time I have warned you guys about this, the next time will result in a 2 place penalty for the perpetrator regardless of the circumstances.

Finally, the use of chat messages during the race is forbidden with the exception of pit in/out notification and the rare event when a driver deems himself to be stuck in a dangerous position that may be hazardous to oncoming traffic. No other messages are to be displayed during the race no matter how helpful you think you be being; they are a distraction to other drivers.

Server replay time: 170s

LeH comes almost to a standstill out of Acque Minerale on the pace lap and then does a rolling burnout. This causes chaos behind as various drivers run into each other as the track becomes blocked by stopped cars.

Whilst the field was probably a little too tightly packed, the rules clearly state that "No driver shall use excessive acceleration or braking during the formation lap". This was a fairly clear violation and caused exactly the problem which the rule is there to prevent.

  • LeH ([GS]LeH)penalty — slowing excessively on the pace lap — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 292s

Rikrecked comes off his pit limiter on the start line, allowing him to accelerate past Shark who is still on limiter. This is against start procedure rules which state "Each following driver should only disengage their limiter when the driver directly ahead does".

Submitting a petulant response to an incident report does nothing to excuse a driver from not having read the rules either!

  • rikrecked (rik)penalty — premature acceleration on the pace lap — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 332s

Under braking for Tosa, OSiriS runs into the back of Mark Jonzo, pushing him into rikrecked who loses several places as a result.

  • OSiriSpenalty — rear ending Mark Jonzo (first flying lap) — 3 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 343s

Tom Cooper gets a run on OSiriS out of Tosa. The latter is pretty much in the middle of the track, and Tom goes to pass on the left, but but Tom drifts slightly right and OSiriS drifts a lot left and they collide, slowing both down and allowing several cars past.

OSiriS has to recover from the grass and manages to come all the way across the track and hit Tom who is on the far right of the road.

  • OSiriSpenalty — contact with Tom Cooper and bad rejoin — 3 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 446s

Mooman is recovering from a visit to the kitty litter at Tamburello; OSiriS, who has a good view of the rejoining Pantera, comes steaming out of the second part of the chicane and makes heavy side contact with it. Unsurprisingly, the little 906 comes off worse and spins across the track; Dan Minton manages to avoid both, but Don, who had been tucked up behind Dan, is unable to see what's going on ahead clearly, and Don loses control as he tries to avoid the aftermath. Tom Cooper also clips OSiriS as he spins.

It's clear from OSiriS's incident report that he knew he should lift, but was afraid that the fidigity 906 would spin if he did so. This race had a full selection of cars to choose from and there is no reason for a driver to put up with a car they find difficult to control when there are so many others to choose from.

  • OSiriSpenalty — lack of care approaching an incident — 1 place lost

Server replay time: 1022s

Assassino loses control under braking for the first part of Piratella and hits Bernie Lomax.

This was clearly a mistake and not a passing attempt gone awry. However, Assassino admits that he had major setup problems; drivers are reminded that they must drive within their own limits and those of the car.

Server replay time: 1550s

Baracus is following Minton into the right hander before the final chicane, Baracus keeps a tight line, Minton sweeps across the track to take the turn, as he does so Baracus clips his rear spining them both out.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1840s

Pero catches Woodee at Piratella, about to put a lap on him. On the way out Woodee holds the right hand line, but as Pero moves out, Woodee moves over to take the normal line for the kink. Pero then gets a run on him out of Variante Bassa, and Woodee holds to the left hand side, then again as they get to the kink, Woodee moves over to the right following the normal line and Pero has to switch back to the inside and make a pass on the brakes.

Whilst there's no suggestion that Woodee blocked Pero intentionally, he had two opportunities (out of Piratella and then out of Variante Bassa) to short shift and make the pass easier and safer. He should also not have cut across the track, even if this is the normal line, with a lapping car directly behind him.

  • Woodee (Neil Wood)warning — holding up a lapping car
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 2105s

LeH is coming up lap Woodee in Piratella. As with Pero, Woodee, instead of allowing him past on the way out of the corner, inadvertently blocks LeH by moving left to take the kink at racing speed when he could have backed off slightly and safely allowed LeH past.

LeH then gets a run on him out of Variante Bassa, and moves right to go past. Woodee moves right in the kink, almost causing a collision, and forcing LeH to make a contested pass on the brakes into Tamburello.

  • Woodee (Neil Wood)warning — holding up a lapping car
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 2480s

PRibeiro is about to lap Woodee as they come up out of Acque Minerale. Woodee drifts lazily across the track on the way to Variante Alta, making hard for PRibeiro to pick which side to try and pass.

In the end he has a half-hearted stab up the inside into the chicane and there is some light contact. Woodee emerges ahead and PRibeiro finally passes him on the brakes into Piratella, complete with lots of angry light flashing.

This one is 50/50; Woodee, you had no need to fight with these lapping cars as if you were racing them for position, and PRibeiro, you could have been more patient and not tried to force your way past into the chicane.

  • pribeiro ([GS]PRibeiro)caution — contact with Woodee
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded
  • Woodee (Neil Wood)warning — holding up a lapping car
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Well a great result for me of course, but I am not really happy about it as I could have taken far more points.
I know that I have the speed here and the only thing that wasnt know to me was the pace of LeH. I started the practise in the BMW knowing that I can do a mid to high  2:01 with it on one lap and 2:02's 2:03 trough the race. But LeH was in the Pantera and I wanted to win this one so I chickened out and took a Capri. In qually it than looked like the right choice as I just about made pole position (although I lost 0.5 sec in the last section on my fastest lap). But than in the race I quickly started to build a lead and soon I had nothing in my mirrors anymore so I started to do some quick laps. Than a bit over the midd point I started to overtake the first backmarkers and the pace droped a bit. It than droped even more when my brother came into my room and started talking to me. That made me less concentrated as I had to let down the volume to be able to hear him and the laptimes droped some more. In the end I basicly more or less cruised to the finnish.
I think that I might have been able to win this in the Beemer as well, will try it out next time when we get to a good racetrack.

Sounds as though I missed a doozy of a race, I should be able to make next weeks race, but I'll still rue not being able to join in all of the previous races but hey ho, no matter.

Yea, I was thinking this is my chance to win against Pero, when I saw he was taking the Capri. I knew he would be fast still, but I didn't expect he would qualify with a 2.00.3. My PB in Imola with the Pantera is a 2.00.0, so I still hoped to get a good lap, but only could make 2.00.5. Somehow I always end up 1 or 2/10 behind Pero in quali ... I need to talk to my mechanics to get me a few more horsepowers I guess ...  Grin

In the race my plan was to push more this time, but Pero took off like a rocket right from the start. For a moment I was thinking, he only picked up fuel for 5 laps and thinks its still quali, or he goes for a strategy with pit-stop ... but no ... he kept going like that Wink. Maybe I could have kept close for a lap or two, but at this speed I'm sure I would have ended in a wall, rather sooner than later. While I can get an acceptable quali time with the Panty in Imola, I can't keep up this driving on the edge for a whole race without major accident - the Panty is just too unforgiving ... at least for me. So I had to go 1.5 - 2 secs slower, but in the end I'm happy I could finish without throwing the car away, though I had one spin near the end, when I lost concentration. The race got a bit boring tho.

If you look at the lapchart you can see I was DQ'ed in lap 1, as I was 19 laps behind Huh.

I don't know why it shows it like that - the results export simply replaces your finish time with "DQ":

Code:

That was a tough race for me in a car I like on a track I mostly like.

I've been doing a lot of ASRWC Formula Armaroli over the last few days and hadn't had time to do any practice, and it felt very, very strange. Really struggled to just get the car round the track on my first two qualifying runs, then finally hooked up a good lap after time had expired and was about to finish it to go into position... BZZZZT! "Next Session..." Noooooooooo! Shocked That left me rushing to load my race setup, and having to start without drinking anything - and I was already starting to feel dehydrated. Undecided

The pace lap was really bad for concertina - at one point the entire field stopped dead in front of me. I thought we'd been getting a lot better at it over the last few races but people were travelling much too close to each other. Angry Then the limiter start seemed to go wrong too, with me still on the limiter until a few cars lengths after the start line. Roll Eyes

Started to settle into a much better rhythm during the race, and started to feel comfortable in the car again. I had Tom Cooper and I was matching him for pace in the early stages, figuring I'd be able to launch a Shark Attack later.

Then Shark went off ahead in the 906, and I let him by, only to have to repeat it when he went off again. That increased to gap to Tom quite a lot, so I had to start pushing harder, and that's when I made my traditional Imola mistake, and hit the second lot of tyres in the final chicane, rolling the car and allowing Woodee past.

I'm glad someone took the GT40 because it provided a direct comparison with the Capri. It was a bit of a dog in the braking zones but slightly faster in a straight line. I finally got up the inside when he struggled to stop the car going into Tosa and we had ourselves a little drag race on the way out - I was looking directly over and there really was very little in it. Sorry about lightly doinking you on the nose, Neil, I really should've been looking where I was going. Anyway, he conceded the following right hander and I pulled away fairly quickly after that. Mark Jonzo nearly caught me at one point but lost it over the curbs at Variante Alta in classic 911 style. laugh

In the end it was a bit of a lonely race to the flag, with the brakes and tyres starting to show signs of wilting, and just Pero lapping me to provide any sign of other cars.

I was saying to myself... don't run wide on the exit or you will look like a right noob for the switch back... but sure enough, I did look like a noob because I didn't keep it tight... DOH!. I REALLY need to look at my setup for GTL, just can't feel the car at all.

following a series of bad luck IMOLA was no exception, during the entire qualy i could only finish 2 laps, i got the 10th place i know my PB was faster than that, during race i managed to achiev the 6th place that´s when i start loosing pace for RIK in his escort, who finally caught me in 18 lap because of a mistake i made, but the worst was in the last chicane in last lap i had no tyres and i managed to hit a red tyre and lost 2 more positions.

I hope this dark wave stops soon.

Very awesome vid again, Ruskus, wow!  I see the lag you mention in the replay; not sure if mine's any better (haven't watched it!).

You never gave music credits for this one ... like that tune!  Who is it?
