I've just seen the sad news that Stirling Moss has passed away. A true gentleman driver. We will have to organise a memorial race, perhaps the new version of Goodwood or maybe Aintree using the 1955GP cars would be a suitable choice.

One of the all time greats and he epitomised the Gentleman Drivers or his era, always polite and eager to discuss anything Motor Racing related.

I can recommend his Biography "All But My LIfe" I believe that is the title. It chronicles his life up until he is forced to give up serious Motor Racing, detailing the Goodwood incident and his slow recovery.

How many other drivers had given the Police the excuse to quote his name when stopping someone for speeding " Who do you think you are, Stirling Moss?"  I wonder how many times that was said??  Undecided

I think a race at the new Goodwood track would be a perfect tribute, 55's or 65's, or both?

What about Friday 17th?  We could have a short 55GP race at Aintree where Stirling won his first Grand Prix and became the first British driver to win the British Grand Prix. Followed by a short race in the 1965 cars at the new version of Goodwood (the place where Stiring's career came to an end).

Happy to do that. I can host Aintree tomorrow, would you be OK to host on Friday (or perhaps Dave might want to host it?).

Not decided on the format yet but Spec Race using the Merc is probably a good way to ensure a 1,2,3,4 finish  Grin

Well it would stop Evil getting in there with his infernal Connaught!   Roll Eyes

But please decide soon as I don't have any setups for the Merc!

OK it will be a free choice. I expect a lot of drivers will opt for the Merc anyway. I'll do a race announcement tonight.

Hi Rob, nice to see you back again. If you haven't tried the 55GP cars before you'll need some practice to get used to the brakes. They are unique  Wink.

My issue at moment is I need tracks, and some reason I cant find my SMRZ account to download the files, I have registered, but need to wait for the mods to approve..

A certain Crafty Connaught Driver is struggling to recreate his setups, and he certainly does not have anything for a Merc! So I might have to spend some time tomorrow re-inventing the wheel?!!

Welcome back Burt. Look for tracks here    http://gpltd.bcsims.com/

If you intend to join the race at Aintree in the 55 cars, then you really, really need to try them offline first. As Phil has said the brakes are unique to simracing as they vanish completely if they are used on 2 or 3 consecutive corners. They will recover if given the chance, but I guarantee that you will wonder what the hell happened, when you discover for the first time that the brake pedal is doing nothing and the scenery is rushing to greet you  Grin
