Moderator's Report

Headlights should not be permanently turned on during fair weather daylight races except by class leaders.

  • crowcaution — driving with lights on

Server replay time: 44s

Maverick is very slow away at the start, and when he finally gets going it seems he spins the rears up and spears left across the track, catching Rob B and Edza in the process.

  • maverickadvice — take more care during the start on cold tyres

Server replay time: 1069s

Adam Parle touches Crow's rear at the end of the braking zone for Coppice, pushing him onto the grass and allowing both Adam and Don to pass him. Adam had room on the outside to avoid contact, but Crow braked a touch earlier than the lap before so I'm reducing this to just a caution.

  • Adam Parlecaution — rear ending Crow
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 1267s

Rob B gets the Old Hairpin wrong and spins in front of Adam Parle, who runs into him.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1300s

Adam has 80% overlap on Rob B as they head towards Coppice. Adam brakes slightly earlier and harder but cannot back out fully, and Rob turns across him. Adam spins as a result.

Adam still had substantial overlap at the turn in point and in my opinion Rob was lucky not to be the one spinning out. Rob says he knew Adam was in his blindspot, yet he chose to turn in anyway; 90% of the time the person ahead will end up being spun out.

Adam felt guilty for this one but he was so far alongside Rob into the braking zone that he was never going to be able to back out of it fully, and Rob should've have left him room.

Date: Tuesday 15th August

Practice 1: 20:30 (25 mins)
Practice 2: none
Qual 2: 20:55 (18 mins)
Warmup: 21:13 (2 mins)
Race: 21:15 (40 mins)

Cars allowed: Lotus Elise only
Weather: Dry

Server: UKGTR Elise Cup
Password: Server Password will be the usual practice/fun race password, as shown in this post.

Notes:
(1) No registration is required; all forum-registered members may join.
(2) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(3) See the Series Info for general Elise Cup info.
(4) Please make sure you are fully aware of the UKGTR Rules; note that we have no specific standing start rules, but first lap incidents will be punished more harshly than subsequent incidents
(5) No carpack is required; all drivers will take the default Elise

A few notes:

If somebody wants to post a link to a carpack we will consider using it for subsequent rounds.

Because this is essentially a "for fun" championship I'm going to take a risk and use a standing start. If it all goes horribly wrong we will go back to rolling starts as usual so keep it clean!

Cool, looking forward to these.  Just make sure to remind people on the grid that it's a standing start or there might be chaos!

ps. I haven't decided what scoring system to use yet, I'll probably tweak it as we go along to ensure maximum points for Team Sharkfairness.

Cool, had my first race ever using these last weekend for a TPG race and thought they were great fun little cars.

I'll be there this eve. A car pack would be great. They use a good one over at TPG, i'm sure if you guys asked Haiku or Whitham nicely he could point you in the right direction for it as they are a great set of skins.

Some Elise setups would be handy too  Wink

Surely this is a typo?

Donington National does not exist in GTR!

I won't be racing on these Tuesdays so hope the other Sharks can do our team proud.

Ah, so I'm not going mad then ....

I'd prefer the national circuit tho, hate that last hairpin.
