Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another
non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

I presume May 7th is correct, only at the top it says May 28th!  Grin

Haha I feel your pain Matt.

R3E used to be my favourite sim but as each class receives its downdate I find myself liking it less and less. The new physics guru has a racing background which makes it even harder to understand what's going on there  Roll Eyes

Only briefly tried the touring classics since the update so I'll give this one a proper go and see how I get on with it.

It is a shame we do not have an area of the website where we can upload setups, sure it would help.

Must admit I have not tried the TCs since the update, so can't comment, I did briefly try the the FJs a while ago & found them quite difficult on default setup so gave up with them. I don't think the Mercs have been updated since we last raced them, so should be OK.

PS: Matt do you have a full schedule for each series sorted yet, it would help when I put up an introductory post at the S3 forum.

OK Matt, can't promise, but I will see what I can do on the Tourers to start with.

Hmm, sorry to see some of the negative comments here, I was hoping we would all be on the same page but clearly not. The Touring Classics are all fantastic for me, and the same goes for the F Junior - I'm sorry to hear that is not the case for some (all??) of you. It almost sounds like I am in a different game, and does make me wonder whether there is some magical combination of hardware settings that I have stumbled upon which no-one else is experiencing.. I hope not, and I hope it can be improved for everyone.

No wish to state the obvious as everyone here is well experienced in sim (and some real) racing, but here are a few random thoughts which may (or may not) help:

The TCs now have (obviously) very much changed physics, including much reduced grip and longer braking distances, supposedly the better to simulate the (I think) crossplies they were shod with at the time. Reduced grip yes, but at no time does it feel exaggerated or like driving on ice to me. It feels very progressive and natural quite frankly. I do however struggle to match the fastest AI times like I used to do, but I'm not sure if that's because the new AI also need tweaking, or because I'm just not pushing enough..

The tyres used to be pre-warmed on the old physics but now they are stone cold when you first go out on track, so obviously it needs a lap (or three) to truly judge what you've got under you. I also think it's worth tuning the tyre pressures to get the best out of these crossplies, which is easy to do, takes a few minutes only, and worthwhile even for those who do not normally tinker with the setup. Easy to find how to do that, but I can do a quick guide (or link to one) if anyone wants it.

The cars seem to be fairly well matched, but the Volvo is the only one with traction control, which can be tuned in the normal way in the setup and on track. This makes it a bit easier to drive than the others imho. The Porsche 964 seems about a second slower around here for me after a very brief test, but is a MUCH easier car to drive. So it might be worth including it in the series for those that really can't get on with the Tourers. Or we change to something else and not do them at all, it's all fine with me. Same goes for the F Junior - that one just feels so right for me even straight out of the box, but happy to abandon it for something else if that's the consensus.

We could do the Group 4s instead..  Hit with a wet fish

Concur for the 964, I did a few laps with Volvo and 964 and the 964 was 4 secs slower for me, but a nicer car
so will include it for anyone fast enough to make it work

Thanks for that (and frex’s opinion), I now have a car I can drive which is more than I could do with the two Beemers! Been winding down the degree of traction control and the last adjustment gave me 7.5 seconds faster lap - hopefully with a bit more practice and less TC I’ll get better lap times for Thursday night! For me the 964 works good, and I´m a little bit quicker with it than with the M3 but the Volvo is still faster. But the Porsche is a lot easier on the brake, because of its ABS. I´m looking forward to race with you tomorrow. The link to the password is not working or is it just me?

I'll probably take the 964 too but be aware that it received a physics update today!

Well, I really enjoyed that  Grin  Pete and I took turns to fall off and wait. Even the little Beemer leaves the Pork
on the straights, but the 964 does corners better, and naturally has better traction out of corners.
And with a bit of care, I can sort of drive it. Not tried the Tourers since this last update. will have a play tommorow.

Psuedo Formula Fords next week at Brands Indy, double header with reverse grid for race 2

Sorry I quit Pete, my last spin into the wall totalled the engine, so couldn't move anymore.

Struggled lots last night, either the car under steered in to the corner or the back end came around. Unless the car was practically stationary I failed to make the corner, added to that every so often the brakes seemed less effective than normal.

I would have abandoned the race early on if Matt and I hadn't done the fall off and wait thing. Sorry to hear that last off was terminal Sad but with less than 5 mins to go, when it happened, I did 'complete' the race. In fact due to RRE's stupid insistence of a silly timer at the end of the race I was about 2 secs shy of actually completing the last lap  Roll Eyes
