Championship standings HERE

Track: Oschersleben GP

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (30 laps)

Series track download pack: Download this
Series car download pack: Download this
Note: If you downloaded the cars in this event https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=20011.msg366971#msg366971 you already have the cars for this series.

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops: Not required

Server: simracing.org MONDAY
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: The start lights are a long way ahead of the start line. Drivers may wish to activate their in-game countdown.

 IMPORTANT

We have discovered problems with some of the released skins.

If you downloaded the earlier skin pack(s) please delete the following car #'s

28, 058, 068, 0069, 069, 084, 83095 and 84106.

The current skin pack download (as used at this event https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=20011.msg366971#msg366971 ) does not include those skins listed above.

IMPORTANT

Further to our test race at 1975 Österrichring, Zeltweg, we are removing all of the 2.8l cars.

Please delete these cars from your folder: #34, #80, #852, #852A, #UKGTL_200873, #UKGTL_201319 and #UKGTL_205509.

The remaining 29 cars are all 3.0l.

There are two different rear spoiler configurations. Ten cars have a small rear spoiler (SRS) and nineteen cars have the large rear spoiler (LRS)

If you have a preference, please check the list below and see that you have the car with the rear spoiler you want.

If you want to change your designated car please post below stating which car you want to change to. Equally, please let me know if you wish to keep your current car #.

Sorry Tony I'm going to have to withdraw from this for the time being  Sad Three days of trying to sort out GTL with various problems caused by the options/controls issues I've been having. Every time I've managed a workaround solution for one problem something else comes up and I've got to the point where I don't want to spend any more time on it. Thanks for trying to help.

Thinking about skipping this one.  Just can't drive that car on this track.  Normally I enjoy the challenging cars, but this is just pure, concentrated frustration!   Every single corner entry, the damn thing is literally trying to hurl the rear end ahead of the front..  censored

Now you know why I don't get on with Porkas Erling, horrible things. I think the Zeltweg circuit was a bit of a fluke, the setup I used there is totally undriveable here, what worked well on the fast corners is awful for the slow corners of Oschersleben. I have massively increased rear toe-in & coast diff which has made quite a difference but I am struggling now getting off the turns as too little throttle & the car understeers  & too much causes snap oversteer. Maybe a Porka expert could give us a few tips?

LOL, very sane advice!  Grin

Tony most graciously sent me his setup.  It defiinitely has the wayward rear end more under control, but suffers from more understeer than my own, with which I tried very hard to combat it in our test race at Zeltweg.  Couldn't quite match my earlier pb (from one of the rare laps where I didn't spin).

With some inspiration from Tony's setup, and your remark about coast diff, Geoff (had left it at 10% from Zeltweg), I've managed to make my own setup a little more driveable - and shaved off a little of my pb in the process too.  Still in no way, shape or form has it made the car idiot proof though, so no doubt bound to go badly in the race..  Roll Eyes

If the real life old 911s really handle like this, I don't regret putting my money on a 928 instead  Smiley

All dressed up and nowhere to go..

Had mentally convinced myself this race was today!

Puzzled to see the server running something else, and lots of familiar names in the lobby, but seemingly engaged in this 'else'...   Bugger, by next Monday I will have forgotten how to drive this car again..  Roll Eyes
