Grats to the podium and the fast people. Sincere apologies to Matt for the "punt" and then a lap or two later, my rather optimistic passing attempt. I think I was blinded by the sudden discovery of a setup, and the beginning of understanding of these beasts. This was the first time that I actually felt that I was driving this car rather than just "along for the ride" My lap times were improving as the race progressed even with worn tyres and I got into the 1:42's, which I thought was an impossibility for me. I lost count of how many times I almost caught up with Fulvio before making yet another dumb mistake and losing all my hard work!! lol. But I was actually enjoying driving a Porker 911 !!! I might even consider completing this series...something that was not certain a week ago

It was nice feeling with that car this time. I had some pace to fight for podium finish so all i needed was a clean race. At the quali i was able to break my PB twice so i took the third position just 1 tent faster than Geoffers. At the start i was able to take the second position as i started better than Micha and he went wide on T1. But he was so much faster than me, so as he attacked me i decided not to push too hard because i knew i was going to fight with Geoffers. After Geoffers went to P4 again we started some chase but unfortunately at the last corner i downshifted to second gear and slide the car. Later Geoffers made mistake at the same place but this time he went on the gravel. After that we had great chase as the gap started from 5.5 seconds and was less than 3 maybe 10 laps later when unfortunately he had bad luck and made a mistake. We could have battle for the podium right at the end. After that it was easy for me to take the podium as i made one more mistake because of commentating which is not cool but have only lost 5-6 seconds. Congratulations to Manfred for the win and the amazing pace and to Micha for the second position. Race replay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SOGr9GrbC0

Hard but relatively satisfying race, apart of course from the humiliation dished out by the aliens, and my screw up at T1.
Got a good start, outrunning Geoffers and even staying ahead of Superstarter@TM Dan, but then messed it up completely at T1. When I touched the loud pedal while going over the outside curb on cold tyres, the rear end took off like a scalded cat and I spun. Spun again in my haste to get going, so very much last at this point.
Made up places, some through mistakes by others. When I reached 6th, a wild chase of Dan ensued. Lasted several laps; we were very evenly matched, so I only closed very slowly. When I had caught up, Dan regrettably spun. From that point my race was very lonely. Next time I saw another car, it was in fact Dan again, when - much to my surprise - I was about to lap him late in the race. How did you manage to loose so much time Dan ?
At this same point, I also happened upon Geoffers, stationary in the pit entrance & facing the wrong way. That handed me 4th. Pushed on as hard as I could, afraid he would stage a comeback, but instead the gap continued to grow. Based on the replay, I guess his car was probably damaged in the incident that allowed me to pass him.
Grats to the untouchable Manfred & the rest of the podium.

Result Reactivated my old Windows XP machine tonight searching for some old setups and found lots of mods unused for years and above all my first ever online car from Henry's 1970-1972 Le Mans Series over at GTLDK way back in 2010, the Porsche 911 ST #26. Using a setup from this car for the RSR I was able to gain another second but still at the back of the pack (1:54.4). Conclusion: I was a little bit better when I started online racing 10 years ago Unfortunately it looks like the history of the 1970-1972 Le Mans Series is no longer available at http://www.gt-legends.dk/GTLDK/forum.php

Two things about last night's race linger on in my troubled mind: A. Erling's absolute cannonball start which left me seemingly glued to my grid position and B. My totaal loss of grip after some 15 ? laps of not too bad racing. Case A might be explained by Erling having done some teststarts which to his own utter surprise suddenly unveiled the secret of the ultimate dragrace to T1 that had been dormant deep inside him for ages. As for case B I am afraid no explanation will come up soon and it will go down in the historybook of unexplained mysteries of the racing tracks. Have a confession to make though. Out of pure frustration I put together a Porsche mod some time ago using elements from both GTL and Power&Glory. Sounds Porsche, drives Porsche, looks Porsche. After a race like last night's, I hop in for 10 mins and I am a happy chappy again. What a shame that the brilliant elements of Power&Glory will never reach GTL. I wish anyone would legally manage to merge the two. Won't happen nor will my mod ever see the public light of day. Ah well, I am glad I 've got it off my chest.. . Let's struggle on. But not for me this Wednesday. Grandson number one's birthday so will see you Monday.. Cheers, Dan ps. I absolutely agree with people who strongly reject the use of emoticons

Considering the number of times you've left me in the dust, mouth agape, this made me laugh so hard Credit & thanks again goes to Geoffers, who provided the vital tip to make it happen - not that I manage to nail it every time, not by a long shot. With regards to your mystery problem, I have no ideas, if the tyres were ok? Maybe it was all in yer head... Btw, P&G was based on GTR2 was it not ?

Power&Glory mod @Erling, Yes it was the ultra plus version of GTL for GTR2 (qualitywise think Grand Prix Legends and made by a team of complete perfection maniacs) not to be confused with the GTR-GTL mod which is merely GTL ported to GTR2. Initially there was a good interest in the mod but the team couldn't keep up the loads of work involved and gradually disintegrated, moreover futher devellopment of new cars was problematic as an average modder could't achieve the level of the original mod. Maybe for a thousand reasons more the community didn't really embrace this simracing gem and what's left of it lies in a corner gathering dust. So here we are happily racing GTL, the proud winner of appreciated historic simracing games. Quite content with it but it also shows that mediocracy sometimes prevails over excellence.
