That's a shame MJ.  Undecided

Whilst I started the week feeling pretty good about this track, and the Alfa's chances post Vallelunga ... it didn't last!  I really enjoyed practicing, but just never had the pace to challenge for the top spot, so having qualified 3rd, I very much expected that that would be as good as it would get.

Darren did as much as he could to help me, a truly special start  Grin.  Sadly, the gap that I had by the time Darren recovered was never going to be enough, and any small slip saw that gap half.  In the end there wasn't any point fighting too hard to keep the position, and when I spanked the barrier when I tried to thread the needle, Darren was then in an unassailable position, and it really was just a question of driving to the end, it was a bit of a processional race for me ultimately - when Tim and Darren were on my tail it wasn't for long.

I just enjoyed a nice leisurely drive post pit stop, enjoying what is a fantastic looking track, but one that never delivered on the racing front.

I don't know how the Alfa will fare next week, but I do rather hope that I'll be able to put up some sort of a fight!

Angry I had a last minute problem and unfortunately I couldn't join the pack. What a pity! I was slow as fuck but I really liked the track (very good for drifting).

I should be fully ready for next week!

I've made it no secret that I'm terrible at standing starts, but tonight's was a horror show; 2nd to 7th inside 400 metres.  Embarrassed no  I would like to apologise to fellow Legend Gary who was stuck behind me on the grid and whose race was heavily compromised as a result.

Heading into T1 in 7th place certainly made the race more interesting.  I really enjoyed working my way through the field, but sadly Tim was 8 seconds down the road by the time I had passed Adam for 2nd.
I tried to keep Tim honest with several consecutive low 2:20s, but as he dipped into the 2:19s, I pushed a little too hard and my Escort soon became very second hand. oops

Well done Tim, amazing pace.  You were just too fast tonight!!

Congrats to Adam for again finishing top Alfa and unlucky Gary for narrowly missing out on 4th.

See you guys next week!!!

P.S. I just watched the video Stefan.  Sorry for the small contact.  At the time I thought you had bounced off the kerb into me, but looking at the video I should have left you more room.

No worries Darren, I was aiming for 4th tonight but my mistake in the pits cost me ultimately. It was a fun race and I'm still getting to grips with AC. This track wasn't the easiest to learn but made good progress this week.

It was fun anyway with some good respectful racing.

Lovely track, would just have liked a week longer to learn it!

Thanks for the racing guys :-)

I ran my malware and AV scans after the debacle and it found a bot hiding in the Lut files I had installed in last few days, so recommend you guys do same if you installed any. (Also installed pro tyres latest version so could have been part of that).

not sure sorry as I ran the scans in tired autopilot mode late last night. I had installed several sets of Luts a day ago for various mod car packs (from Tims link) I have in my AC install. Not saying it was definitely the cause of my issues as had suffered similar with my Rift-S mid race a week ago, but something was definitely suspect with my pc last night and the fake 'windows' message I got that froze me out of my keyboard until I re-booted, and that's despite my AV always on.  detective

Elected not to qualify and to start very cautiously at the back to avoid any potential mishaps at first complex (yep I can be as sneaky as my avatar when I need to be  Cheesy). Soon caught up to Syd but I could see no prospect of getting past without being rude so decided on an early stop to give myself some clear track.

Unfortunately that was the last I saw of anyone (except for MJ's stranded Alfa). I eventually convinced myself that I must have discoed so tootled my way round to the end just in case, admiring the beautiful scenery along the way.

Congrats to pody  Cool

Very difficult race, I had to leave the car at a body-shop in Lucca for repairs.

I was in a good bagarre-group, so it was fun race.

Congratulations to the podium, an incredible pace!

PS: nice video and race, Stefan.

I've just checked all my LUT files (2x AC installs and the archive which goes back about 5 years now) nothing here - If you haven't already done so it might be worth a full system scan with Malwarebytes or something equally competent, either a dodgy file was temporarily in the download (unlikely as it's on google drive, the individual files are small and so are scanned server side before download), or something else you have may have infected that file.

Or you're running McAffee or course and there was nothing wrong with that file to start with Cheesy

Another thing I thought I'd mention as I seem to remember one of your crashes being due to a dead battery in the remotes - I only put batteries in my remotes when I'm actually going to use them. If they aren't on to start with then you won't get any warnings splashing up and destroying what you're doing.  Smiley

On to my race:
I don't know where that lap came from in qually - when I was doing my performance check of the Alfa Vs the Escort last weekend I knew the Escort had the better potential lap (it was showing a very high 2:19 but average laps were around 2:20.8 with a best of 20.5 Vs the far more consistent and easier 2:20.3 I got out of the Alfa) but to knock a further half a second out of that time blew me away Cool

Darren was kind enough to leave me plenty of racing room at the start Wink - this removed my biggest worry of getting caught in second place or having to fight for the lead on cold tires. My setup here required pressures that were so low (to handle the heat/pressure generated through excess drifting Grin ) that it takes 3 laps to get up to pressure, and car is even more Evil than normal during this phase - as can be clearly seen in lap 1 on the replay!

After I got up to pressure I was able to steadily pull away from Adam, and then crawl slightly slower away from Darren once he gained 2nd.
I chose to pit just over half race distance and found myself exiting just behind Adam's Alfa - I caught him again just as my tires were coming upto pressure so pounced on the first slight mistake he made, Adam was kind enough to yield the next corner to me (he knew I had fresh rubber and a bucket of pace at that point) rather than risking contact or a mistake.

From then on it was a very enjoyable slide to the flag, with the bonus of 2 high 19's thrown in once on lower fuel near the end Smiley

I'm not aware of any proper incidents from what I've seen in the replay (Not done the pitstops yet, I'm waiting on the code for 3DsimEd3 to create a pitlane cam and save myself some hassle) but don't expect you lot to be naughty anyway.

If there's interest I can upload my Alfa setup from Luccaring - It'll obviously need tweaking for Sugo and Goodwood but might help anyone struggling for pace in the Alfa. Conversely it might make you worse as well Wink
