Hi guys

Our rules are this: If your car is on the start grid at race start then it counts as one drive. However you could drive the Alfa GTV again as a bonus drive.

BTW Micha, can you fill in your Profile/Driver Details/Country then we can put a flag against your name in the results.

A race to forget, as expected.

Didnt like the track, didnt like the car...  Cheesy

The first start was better for me, after the second i was even lower on the standings, and THAT JAGUAR POWER  Grin It was like one of those japanese trains .

The first pit stop was total disaster. I lost maybe 40 seconds there.

At the end it was terrible day at the office for me, but at least the recording is going to be fun to watch as i had so many ups and downs in the standings and few half take-offs.

Tried the various cars I had not used yet for this race. When I got to the Rover SD1, I remembered Clive mentioning that Hristo had uploaded his setup in the previous race.  Decided to try it, as I've been far off the pace with that car before.  Setup turned out to be brilliant, making the car both the most enjoyable and the fastest among my options.  Now I must try to reverse engineer it, to see if I can figure out what makes it so good  Smiley

Didn't expect much from the start, as the Rover won't spin its wheels, even with revs at the limiter, so tends to bog down.  Alfa must be worse though, as I ended up stealing the lead from the two new aliens.  No too happy about the restart, as it dumped me from leading the race, to 14th on the grid!  Roll Eyes   When the restart went, it seemed like most other cars were moving backwards - I went from 14th to 2nd.  That qualifies as my best GTL start ever, with some margin!!  May have to reevaluate my perception about the SD1 and getting it off the line..  Cheesy

Now I was behind Manfred however, but very unlikely that I could have kept him behind me the entire race, had we not had the restart, so in the end, I probably didn't lose out as a result.  On L1, I momentarily slipped into a ditch, letting Manfred stretch the gap and Micha close up behind me.  He was right on my tail at the start of lap 2, but then vanished.  With the unbeatable Manfred already gone, the rest of the race was completely lonely and uneventful.

Grats to Manfred on the win, and Hristo for filling the podium.  Commiserations to those with problems.

Misnoimis, when using a sequential shifter and wanting reverse, you must first put the car in neutral, and then downshift. To go forward again, you again put it in neutral and then upshift.  I have a button assigned for neutral on my wheel - can't remember what the default key for it is, but it's in the setup options.

This evening was an experiment that failed. I didn’t know the track so had no idea when to brake. I had to swap from my ‘H’ shift setup to a sequential one that I wasn’t familiar with because the shifter was playing up.
What shifter do you need, I think I have a couple taking up space in my shed.

Thanks Tony

I have a Logitech G25 with three gear change modes. “H”, Sequential and Pedals on the wheel. The “H” mode is now unreliable. I have a Logitech G27 I boxed up a few years ago. I have now traced it to the bottom of a full room height cupboard. I just need to move a table to fully open a door and about half a dozen boxes on top of it and I can set it up and try it. The shifter just had the “H” mode I’m sure.

I wouldn’t have stopped using it unless there was a problem. I think this was the same problem, the gear selector was failing.

I like to use the selector appropriate for the chosen cars in real life.

I guess any “H” selector that works with a G25/G27 will do. I will see if I can fix it first. If not I will PM you to see if we can work something out.

BTW I’m off to the golf club for my second attempt this year. The first turned out better than I feared. Somewhere between things can only get better or things can only go downhill from here. We will see.

Thanks Erling (aka Coyote),
I should not have tried to race on this track without really practising but at least I have learnt something.  thumbup1

One thingy that will shock Geoff and Daz: After some laps, I started to -wait for it- like the Escort.  Shocked

The Escort is nice! - I liked it a lot in the race where I used it  Smiley

Lost connection at the end of lap one  Sad

I never had disconnection problems in all these years. Changed my provider over a year ago (now Vodafone instead of Telekom)
and today it's not the first time that this happened.

You and Micha both disconnected at the exact same time; 360 secs into the replay.  Seems an unlikely coincidence, so could it be the higher than usual number of drivers, coupled with the track perhaps, causing the server to drop you both ?

Seem to recall that there have been other tracks with problems if a certain number of drivers were exceeded.

Not much to report here. I knew it was probably going to be a lonely race, judging from the lap time gaps in practice and qualifying. As Clive says, the Metro has a decent top speed for its engine, but making it stop was a huge challenge. I spent over an hour trying to figure out the setup so it wouldn't just spin out of control. In the end it was more about just lift and coast, with a slight application of braking, than actually getting any near the limit of the tyres. A lock up and you're gone into the scenery. Which is what I did in the race, twice, losing over 30 seconds in total.

All of that was irrelevant though, because the gap up to Erling ahead and Matt behind were big enough anyway. I kinda began to enjoy throwing the car around in the twisty bits, because it's has very good cornering, but those endless straights made me feel like the race was never going to end. At least I finally had 2 mistake-free pitstops. Only thing that puzzled me was why my 2nd stop was just as long as the 1st one, despite putting 10 liters less in the tank.

Oh, I have to mention the entertaining moment near the end when I first saw Dom discussing his fuel woes and then Dan coming to the rescue, then actually passing both of them as Dan was pushing Dom to try and reach the pitlane. Czech towing service coming to the rescue or pushing service rather!  Grin

Congrats to Manfred for a dominant drive and Erling for 2nd, and to all who survived!

Like most it was a fairly lonely race for me after the first lap. This was probably not helped by having a spin late on lap 1 which put me right at the back & also my pitstop strategy of having the short stint first, although in hindsight this was probably wrong. Lost 7th on the final lap when I rolled the car & then set off in the wrong direction when it righted itself. Must have given Dimitar a fright when I was heading towards him  Shocked.

Congrats to Manfred, Erling & Hristo  clap clap clap & also to Daz winning the 1600s. clap
