Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 65s

Pedro looks to the inside of Chunky going into turn 3 and is virtually level when Chunky turns in on him and there is contact. Both drop to the tail of the field before they can rejoin. It was lap 1, and Chunky really should've been aware that Pedro was, or at least could be, alongside, and left room.

Chunky then squeezes Pedro as they go into turn 4; the latter then brakes a bit too late and spins off.

  • Chunkypenalty — contact with Pedro — 3 places lost

Server replay time: 2400s

It's the last lap and Mark Jonzo is about a second behind BigG in 4th place. BigG catches Dan Minton, who is down in 12th and not in a fight with anyone, as they approach turn 1.

Dan should probably have allowed BigG past between T2 and T3 but Gerald is busy spinning off in T3 and BigG very sensibly makes no attempt to pass. This allows Mark Jonzo to catch right up with BigG, who has to be patient as there isn't really much track between T3 and Piscene to allow another driver past.

Dan actually pulls away a little out of Piscene and Mark gets a strong run behind BigG, drafting up and alongside. He flashes his lights at Dan but Dan is still half a dozen car lengths ahead, and has nowhere to go except to block BigG on the right. BigG backs out and yields the line to Mark, but the latter gets his line wrong into Proserpini and hits the tyres on the right, launching himself into the air and collecting BigG in the process.

Dan in the meantime has hit the left hand tyres and also spun off.

Mark retires on the spot.

Whilst Dan did not deliberately block BigG early in this sequence of events, there was no good reason for him not to move over out of turn 2 and make it easy for BigG at the least to pass him. We advise drivers being lapped not to change lines on a straight, but this does not give you carte blanche to stick rigidly to the racing line, particularly when being lapped by a car of the same class which does not have the horsepower to simply blast by on the straight. Dan probably should have stayed or moved right coming out of T2 and allowed BigG past.

Now, given the size of the gap behind Dan as they exiting Piscene, it was not reasonable to expect him to then back off and allow BigG (and Mark) past. By the time Mark got alongside BigG there was no longer any simple, safe course of action open to Dan which would have allowed both BigG and Mark past. The fact that Mark crashed was entirely down to his own mistake.

  • Dan Mintonwarning — unduly holding up BigG whilst being lapped

Mark, I had this kind of conversation with Picnic some other time and finally had to agree, that flame wars that do happen at other leagues are killing the fun. Submitting the incident and waiting for ruling is the only way to avoid it. It feels wrong not to be able to express yourself when you are upset, but it really works fine and GTRUK is great example. This is one of the few great leagues I know that avoids public incident judgement.

Nevertheless - in my opinion, rulings for ignoring blue flag and inability to drive wide if someone attacks inside lane should be penalised more severe and biased towards victims right. Several times I felt that aggressive (in a sporting, positive meaning) driving is penalised and less experienced drivers favored. On the other hand - this makes the league friendly to the newcomers.

So - even if you were victimised, be sure someone will get penalised. Clean rules.

Practice hard for Estoril. Light and "jumpy" Elise will be so much fun at the polish type asphalt they have. It's the only track in GTR that resembles streets of my home city Smiley

Hi Guys what a wiered event I got a double stop and go ? what for I can not say. I was doing quite well up to that point 8th saw stop go message loss concentration and attacked the barriers. Took the stop go but got another , ran wide whilst being lapped and clatterd the barriers car was about a second and a half a lap slower after that. If I was the holder up I am very sorry but when ones car is a pig to drive and one is in a battle with a closing car it is somtimes difficult to let lapping cars through. 11 wasnt bad with 2 stop goes in the end. gerald

Its allways a bit special to lap the cars of the same class and of the same model in particular. The lapped driver loses a giant amount of time. I too was moving outta way to the top three much slower than in GTR Endurance to GT cars. Then again, the lapped guy has to choose a moment when its safe to get outta way or accelerate with less throttle. Bad choises hapen, but I don't think it was a deliberate one, MJ.  Smiley

I hope you cooled down a bit. Have a cold beer on me.  balloon  burp   Grin

Yup, but I have Office 2007 beta now, but it causes a million errors before I get the file, so it takes alot of time to create. So I need to install an older version tomorrow and post them.
