Championship standings HERE

Grid/server capacity: 22

Track: Magny-Cours (Club)

Cars allowed: Alfa Romeo GTA, Ford Falcon, Lotus Cortina, Renault Alpine A110, Shelby GT350

RACE ONE - CUP STAGE A, Round 3

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (10 mins)
Race: 20:30 (16 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: To score points in this series you must complete over 50% of the overall race distance.

I am totally delighted with this three events. They had everything for me - great chases in the first two, and so much fun and laugh in the third one. I decided to drive all three races with the Cortina car as i had some setups for it from my Cup Challenge episodes with the AIs.

Congrats to the race winners and the podium guys.

Nice vid & nice avatar, Dimitar. You are aware that this car does exist for GTL?

Yes Kurt! Thanks! I am a big Ferrari fan boy, not so much the F1 team than the manufacture itself.  Cool

Three intense races for me yesterday.

Race 1 was primarily a mid field battle with Matt, with a few position swaps.

After my mediocre performance in race 1, I didn't have high expectations for the next two, so surprised to find myself in the sharp end of the grid when the dust settled after qualifying.

In race 2, the two über aliens buggered off immediately, and the entire race was then a very close battle with Dimitar.  Gap was no more than ½ a sec for most of the race, so no room for errors.

Race 3 had a bit more variation.  Geoffers ran wide in Parabolica at the end of L1, as did Salesman a few laps later, after slipping through holes I didn't know existed, with that cheeky little Alpine  Smiley  Thus in 2nd when Geoffers caught up again.  Kept him behind longer than extected.  He did get past a couple of times, only to make mistakes allowing me to reclaim the position.  Eventually my car got too squirrely under braking before the tyre barrier, and I ended up clouting it, while Geoffers zipped past.  He stretched the gap, and must have woken up Dan, as he remained in front, but wasn't that far ahead when Geoffers was behind me.  Now I had Daz in his Cortina behind me, snapping at my heels.  Hard work to stay ahead, but had great help from the straight line speed advantage of the Shelby

Grats to Dan & Daz on their wins, and to Geoffers on his string of 2nds, and Dimitar for a 3rd place.

Hats off again to Dimitar for the video and the running commentary - must be hard doing this while racing, and in a foreign language no less!

Really enjoying these short sharp races, you have to drive flat out all the time.

Race 1 was exactly like that, had a big advantage on the straights with the GT350 but it really was a barge in the corners & Dan was able to close the gap at each end of the track. Thought I had done enough to get the victory but an outstanding move on the final esse bend by Dan gave him a narrow win.

Race 2 was just as flat out, spent all of it chasing Daz's Cortina. There was little between us but Daz was ultimately just that fraction faster. Gap grew on the last two laps though as on both laps I lost control over the little crest where the track rejoined the GP track & took a trip across the grass Roll Eyes.

Final race started badly as I slightly overshot T1 & then ran a bit wide at the Parabolica onto the grass & dropped to 5th. Gained a place when Salesman did the same on lap 2 & another when Falcon power got the better of Daz's Cortina. Erling was a little more difficult & I think it took three attempts before I made a pass stick & set off after Dan. Eventually caught up but he seemed to have a little more straight line speed than me (oddly Erling's GT350 didn't) & I could not get close enough to attempt a pass. I did try to avenge Dan's race 1 move at the chicane on the final lap & although we swapped a little paint, Dan held on.

Congrats to Dan & Daz on their victories & to Erling & Dimitar on their podiums.  clap clap clap clap

I have been unable to join these races online because it seems that whatever car I choose I get a “car not present on server “ message or my PC will just lock up when loading  myself into the game. I think I may be able to fix the problem now as I have managed to get my worn out original CD to load the basic game at about the 20th attempt. At least I will be able to identify the original car set so I will know what numbers to load when using my very updated version and if they are no longer installed I can copy and paste them to it. If I try to load from the CD I usually get "Starforce error".

I really like the idea of three shorter races so I am sorry to have missed them. However with a bit of luck I may be able to fix the problem before the next race. smartass no

@ Mike

As this series uses only original GT Legends content you can use the in-game car filter to help you get the right cars. It's on the "Select Track" screen, on the right hand side, above race settings.

I don’t have that option in my version of GT Legends Tony. However I can now identify the original car set and note the car numbers. In my much modified version I may (for example) have 30 skins for one particular car whereas the original version may have 5. I hope I will be able to join in future if I use an original car for this series.

WHAT! You must have, it's part and parcel of GT Legends.

I think Tony we might have been talking to cross purposes and my post may have been a bit misleading. My problem was I could not remember what cars were original to the game. For example if I selected the Jaguar E Type only I have 24 different skins. I have now ascertained that the original game had only 3. Pretty much goes for all the original cars. Of course I have installed lots of mods for cars that were not in the original game. I should have said skins for original cars. I was thinking you meant there was a line to click on to filter out all but the original car skins. Sorry if I mislead you and thanks for the help. Fingers crossed I may be able to join for the next race in this series.
