I was hoping that the 68s are like the F2, in so far as the default setup is good enough - but from chat last night & here;  maybe that is not the case?  Smiley

I initially found the back-end to get lost under braking,  but less so if I just let the revs get a little lower before changing down.

Does that mean that the "GPL Tire Pressure Bug Fix Patch" is not just for sports cars, or is that something for general deployment?

I also inherited a good spot at one point due to misfortunes elsewhere,  but (un)gracefully gave them all back again.

Apologies Billy, at one point (you probably know the one) I came rushing back from the wilderness into what had looked to be a massive gap on Pribluda,  but just before the impact it dawned on me that you were right there too  (I thought was mainly McLarens that attracted each other)

I also found that my look left/right buttons were not working in the race (had been fine in practice) & had similar at Spa on Sunday.
Worked fine again when I tested afterwards.  Something else for me to look at/check next time.

Anyway, good event.  Would certainly be interested for another 1968 gathering.

Cheers,
Dave.

"GPL Tire Pressure Bug Fix Patch"

There is a tiny mathematical bug in the original gpl.exe,
that bug makes a little difference in tire grip -> the higher pressure is needed, the bigger the difference .
(At 24 PSI the difference is near nothing - but GT67 needs 32 PSI )

Wich mods do have this bug?
-> 67 - 65 - 66 - 69X - 67F2 - GT67 - CanAm71

This Mods have the fix included:
66CanAm - 55 - 67SC - 68E - 67X

When does it make sense to use the patch?

The patch lowers the top speed, because of more rolling resistance of the tires!
The patch heats up the tires more equal over the surface so they behave better in sliding.
So use it at Clermont - but don't use it at Monza 10k

Wich mods gain most by using it?
GT67 + 66 -> GT at Targa but never at LeMans! (GT is the obsolete old mod! SC67 is the new with fixed tires!)

For 67F1+65+69X you must test yourself, it is said the times are the same with or without patch.

Quote
My opinion about the 68E (+67x +CA66) tires:

These tires get suddenly too much grip when getting near their "optimum" temperature, so I tried to keep them lower and succeeded.

The new SC67 + 55s have IMO way better behaving tires, I wonder why nobody ever complained about 55s tires.... Grin

Took your advice and succeeded. I have a stable car on the brakes now. Fantastic! A really great mod.
But doesn't it use his own track.ini ?

Own track.ini's are only made when a mod makes own optical or physical changes at the track.
But they are called track55.ini - e.g. Monza10k for 55s have haybales in Para Shocked  ( If you don't like them, just kill this ini...)

Thanks for your quick response, but I'm not sure... Normally I have a track.ini for every track and mod. For example brands67: track65.ini; track66.ini; track68.ini; track69.ini and trackSC.ini. But Monza67 is missing the track68.ini?

At some tracks there are multiple season files like Mexico or Kyalami, but other tracks have only one track.ini for all mods.

Ah - and be carefull with the GEM+ checkbox "disable AI limpback to pits"
whenever you check it it builds a new trackxx.ini if there is none by the track maker, and this .ini contains only one line!!

This can make lots of troubles!!!!

Can I create a 68 track.ini myself and the mod will use it?

Yes,
rename a track.ini to track68.ini and change the pitstalls for slot 0vs19 to the end of the row and you see if it works Wink

Thanks, everything works fine now.
Another question, will the result of the East London race still be published?

Yes it will be but we've got to update the website importer to recognise the 68 cars.

Thanks for your answer, Phil. I thought so, otherwise we all would've had driven in the Brabham. Wink
