we have 2 drivers Alex and Miele, which car should they race with?

No specified cars for this championship.
They are both "Works" : no reset allowed

BUR are you sure they don't want to race the Grand Prix championship ?

I agree with David.

Alex and Miele are both very fast drivers. I would expect they would like the extra challenge of the GP race, in which case EvilClive will allocate a chassis. If they want to race here in the Sprint, they are both "Works" drivers and can drive any car for this race (all drivers will have 20 tokens for the first race).

That was a good race.  good clean GPL fun !!

settled in after a decent start behind Billy but he was just a little too quick...  but a lap or so later managed to catch phil.

I managed once to just get past, but over cooked it 2 corners on. after that did my best to keep the pressure on. I was all over him like a cheap Italian suit, but he didnt crack.

was great racing from where i was.

Paul.

Yes it was a good clean pass Paul, pity the adrenaline got the better of you at the next corner. You were driving very well, I doubt I would have been able to take the place back if you hadn't made the error.

Unfortunately, for some reason, I couldn't join the race. Every time when I connected to the server during qualifying I was alone on track/on the server. In addition I was with a Brabham in Trainer mode (only 4 gears) instead of the Cooper I choose for the race.

I will try to find out why and fix it so that I will be there for the next race! Btw, did anyone of you experience this kind of problem before?

Usually have to select the right car and mod etc from the pop up box that comes up when you click to join the server  Roll Eyes

My own race was a classic !
I had a moohasive migrane attack and didnt think I could survive more than a lap or two , so decided the Beast from Bourne would be the my chassis of choice , that way nil points lost from my foreseen early retirement . As it turned out my head cleared during qually and I was able to carry on, ( for what good it did) . Got punted off on Lap 1 T1  rejoined the track and no one in sight , then faced 35 laps of abstract misery driving the worst mobile chicane ever made . lost count of how many times I got lapped.

Grats to the podium and all those who finished !

I selected the Cooper in the pop-up. But unfortunately it did not work.

For my GPL-installation I used the 2004 Demo and copied the Papy-tracks from the CD. I was thinking if the 2004 Demo might cause the trouble? (I updated the demo with the v1.3 patch)

Markus,
Might be worth looking at the Player settings in GPL - have you selected 'Grand Prix' cars, not 'Trainer' cars. Also, have to turned off automatic gears / brakes  - maybe  the reason for 4 gears?
Do you use a different player name for different mods? I always add '65' or '67'. If you don't use the correct one in IGOR the system sometimes uses a different player profile?

Thanks for the hints.
All driving aids are turned off. And currently I am only using the 67 original cars, no mods installed. So I only have one player profile and I remember I selected this profile in the pop up at the igor server list when I tried to join the race.

However, in GPL I never drove any Trainer cars, only the Grand Prix cars. In every mode of single player Grand Prix cars are selected, and in single player everything works fine. I remember when I tried to join via igor GPL started and it went into the multiplayer mode. All settings were taken over from the server, so I could not choose whether to use Trainer or Grand Prix cars.

I was also wondering if GPL needs certain ports to be enabled in the firewall?

It might also be a problem related to Linux. As far as I know Cookie is using Linux as well. So I think I will ask if he has any ideas to solve the problem.
As soon as there is a new UKGPL practice server for the 67 cars I will try to fix it.

Sorry you didn't manage to race with us last night Markus. Please don't lose heart, we will help you get up and running.

Exactly so it is a bit of a mystery why you only had 4 gears. I don't know what input device you use? If you are using a steering wheel (most of us do but some people use joysticks or even keyboards) don't connect it via a USB3 (blue) port. These are known to produce bizarre effects. Always plug your input devices into a USB2 (black) port.

Yes GPL does need some ports to be opened. Unless you are hosting you don't normally have to worry about that. Windows would sense the ports to open and ask the user to confirm. But since you are on Linux, you are better to ask Cookie.

@ Markus,

For port details,  in iGOR:  Help-> HTML Documentation.  Then select iGOR Technical
This lists ports requied for iGOR as well as GPL.

I've put UKGPL_11 online with the next Sprint track (ba55n2).

Cheers,
Dave.
